How would you rank X among the Ultraman shows?

On a scale of 1 to 5? I rate 3.5
>>
I'll give it a 4 out of 5.

It was comfy.

I expected it was going to turn out like that since the promo material made it look like the show was going to be about as typically Ultraman as they could make it.
>>
>>13754713

3.5

It has so much likeable casts, great and comfy moments.

The reason it lose point is that bloody X-Slugger. That CM scene asides, they dropped the whole monster armor thing until the last episode (or maybe 1 2 episode like the rugby ep?). And we still don't know how do it connect with X.

>needing to rank things and assign a number value
Why? You don't even explain your reasoning.
>>
>>13754713
Why number scale it? Why does anyone still number scale?

X had its flaws (infuriating plot rushes i.e "One For All", the MonsArmor losing significance, Asuna's gymkata in the beginning) but the good really outweighed it. This was really the only toku show I was watching this past year and it managed to stay consistently fun and exciting.

If I had to rank it by series: just above Mebius by a slight margin. In my Top 5 overall overshadowed by Ultraseven.

>>13755385
The X-Slugger wasn't that bad. I'm sure other plot points will either get resolved in the movie or maybe turn into setup for that supposed second season/another Ultra Fight.
>>
>>13755077
After the fiasco of the Ultra N Project, Tsuburaya isn't allowed to experiment with the ultra shows. Bandai having stocks on Tsuburaya doesn't help.

I'd rate it 3.5 as well. Show ignored Hayato and Mamoru compared to other characters, small episode count (no fault), ending wasn't the strongest and was left too open.
I also wish we could have had a Cosmos ep. I lust for more Cosmos.
>>13755980
It's nice seeing Nexus at #6, given his show didn't do so well. Likewise with my nigga Leo.

I'm surprised Hikari is that low though? Also surprised about Powered/Great, but I haven't seen their series or anything.

I don't blame them, since the costumes were too fragile to use for exciting fight scenes. As for Great, maybe they didn't like the use of spandex?

Pretty much. Aside that, you might enjoy seeing Kane Kosugi (of Kakuranger fame) being in an American co-production.

Bad news, Starseeker only subbed one episode of it as an April Fools release. You can watch Ultraman Story since it has him in it, however.

Seems like I only have Seven/Taro/Ace/80 to finish, Showa-wise.

That said, how is 80? I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue my CR premium to start watching it, since 80 is just so ugly and pretty forgotten. I wouldn't really mind skipping 80 to save myself almost 20 hours for something else, to be honest.
>>
>>13757195
It's said to be goofy and uneven at times, but ultimately endearing overall. The payoff in Mebius is worth it.
>>
>>13757222
I guess I'll watch a few eps and see if I want to continue with it/pay CR even more of my money. Thanks bro.

Mebius was the second series I've seen, so I guess I've already spoiled myself on that payoff.

You're welcome. By the way, a few last things:

The Ultra Seven sequel movies (which are set in their own continuity) apparently have subs, but I have no idea if anyone even has them. Also, no one is currently doing Dyna and Gaia, so you should hope CR will move on to those after Nexus. Glad to see you're supporting CR, too.
>Mebius was the second series I've seen, so I guess I've already spoiled myself on that payoff.
It's no big deal. The main appeal of that show is that it gets you to care about casts you never heard of.
>>
>>13757308
>you should hope CR will move on to those after Nexus
I actually cancelled my membership a few days ago, pointed out that my main reason for the several month membership was because of Ultraman X and the current Ultraman series, subtle namedropping of Gaia and Dyna, etc. Not sure if it'll make a difference, but whatever.
>The main appeal of that show is that it gets you to care about casts you never heard of.
Except Leo, of course
>watch Leo after Mebius
>expect Gen to be some hardened asshole, strict with his fellow peer
>end up getting some poor naive and kind dude who gets shit on
>and wears some sweet-ass sweaters, unlike fucking Goh and his shit taste
Not sure how the writers of Mebius goofed his character that badly, though. Can't remember how he was like in the Zero films, since I've watched those well before actually getting into Ultraman properly.
>>
>>13757358
After years of pain, you pretty much become bitter, in fairness.
>I actually cancelled my membership a few days ago, pointed out that my main reason for the several month membership was because of Ultraman X and the current Ultraman series, subtle namedropping of Gaia and Dyna, etc. Not sure if it'll make a difference, but whatever.
I think that'll do.
>>
>>13757373
I guess that's true, though Leo feels more like a guy who would be more depressed and bitter than the asshole flavour of bitter.

I wish we got more of Astra. I genuinelly can't recall if he said anything that wasn't some form of 'help!', 'Leo!' or 'nii-san!'
>>
>>13757412
For what it's worth he did appear in a few more things.

>>
>>13757426
>Astra was intended to appear in Ultraman Zero versus Darklops Zero, but was cut. He was also intended for Ultraman Saga, joining the Ultra Brothers in a battle that was also cut. He would have fought Tyrant and it would have been the first time Astra, Seven and Leo fought together.

It'd give a 3 but it should be a 2 though. The gimmick was seriously stupid even for kids standards (despite no kid watched X) and it's basically everything wrong with Ultraman today. Nevertheless, there was a lot of love and care on the production so it almost compensate the executive meddling. X would be unwatchable on Toei's hands and that should be recognized

Just a couple of years ago, 3.2% was beyond fucked up but now it's OK and it even looks great under Ultraman's standards
>>
Tv rating doesn't mean anything now, though. There are a lot more ways to watch tv series now.

But i found it surprising that Tsuburaya didn't put X any Ultraman on Amazon.
>>
>>13774811
Japan is behind the rest of the first world on streaming. Besides, the top shows on DVR are stuff like Detective Conan and Dragon Ball Super, not Ultraman or toku stuff.

>X had 0.2%

There is no source on this anywhere, ratings for X were never posted beyond the first episode, which got a 1.8%
>>
>>13778146
>>13773459
Is it really that hard to believe? 1.8% is already a terribly low number and toku has reached new lows on recent years. Also, the nip fandom seems to be apathetic toward X. Few fanarts, few views on youtube, the events seems to be full of oldfags. The series had a very open end but X can't carry a movie by himself so there'll be a massive team up leaded by Tiga, Tsuburaya's cashcow for the Heisei generation

I loved X. It felt like a natural progression from Cosmos and Mebius. I wouldn't really give it a number because if I were to give all the series I've seen a number ranking I'd probably give 4's and 5's to a bunch of other series anyways but I'll say it's special to me.

It was also the best toku that aired in 2015 but that's not really an accomplishment when you consider its competition.

Since this is the only Ultraman thread:

Looks like we'll be getting something in October

Ultraseven SHF X Ultra-Act when?
>>
>>13789680

I hope it isn't about this vid - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hlQwV6Jvv4.

I don't like the cgi too much.

>>13789471
>>13790359

And the Ultraman Ace, too. Hope it will come with Vertical Guillotine and Hokuto's head.

>Ultra-act line
man I'd like to get them but the price is bit too much for me

But Ultra Act is actually the cheapest, though. I remember Ace is only 2400+ yen (excluding shipping payment). And the quality is superior to SHF, too. I have bought Ace, Jack and Taro, and I didn't regret any cents paying for them.

>cheapest
Compared to what exactly?
But yeah, most Ultra-acts are inexpensive because some have been released 3-4 times and/or just recently (like Ace, Taro, Jack, Seven in February..)

Only problem is that there is a lot of figures that go for a lot, especially exclusives. I hope you don't want a Noa, Agul, or Dyna because those niggas go for 12,000+ each.

>every major entry is showcased

Pretty neat to go through all this trouble of counting those.

Source?

Compared to Figuarts. They're 2/3 the price.

Ultra-acts have always been around the same price as Figuarts, actually. I think you're just confused by the reissue prices (which aren't adjusted for inflation, and will have the same MSRP as it had even years ago).

I recently saw this cute image on Pixiv (id 9377990 if you want to bother).

Which Ultraman is next to Dyna, that Jack seems to be chatting with? I can't recognize his back.

Pretty sure it's Andro Melos's brother. Cant remember his name right now

It probably won't be the final CGI, it's a proof of concept for the series aimed at adults.
>>
>>13794172
From the back of the head it looks like it could be Xenon
>>
>>13795680

I dont mean the cgi is poorly made, though. It looks really awesome. But i 'd like my Ultraman mainly portrayed with actual suit than 100% cgi.
>>
>>13795680
>>13795765

I wouldn't mind CG that much, but eewww those toes.

Xenon's right next to Max lol

That's incredibly sweet.

>>13795765
>>13795949
Overall, the problem is this Ultraman is simply disturbing, since it's no longer a costume like fans are used to. Plus, an actual moving mouth.

If it were in an anime like Joenius, it'd be a different story.

Where does Zone Fighter and Spectreman fall in?
>>
>>13797129
ZoneFighter is Godzilla canon. Spectreman, we don't speak about.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
