Why the fuck isn't there a thread about this
cloverfield 2 niggers
>Not found footage
I think it's the closest we've actually gotten to an american godzilla.
Not as in, "an american godziilla movie", but as in "An american equivalent to the original godzilla movie".
Eh, that's fair enough. I mean, I thought it was decent as a kid but if they wanted to establish it shouldn't they have struck while the iron was hot? The trailer does seem interesting, but I fear it will be a "person trapped with psychos" movie with the monster at the very end. Like, I don't want the whole central conflict to be against John Goodman and the other guy.
This might not be /m/ at all, other than sharing a part of the title and creator with an /m/ovie.
> Producer J.J. Abrams called the film "a blood relative of ‘Cloverfield’."
>Budget $5 million
John Goodman most likely ate a fair chunk of that budget (pardon the fat joke), so there's not much room left for kaiju. It may not even be in the same universe at Cloverfield given that "blood relative" line.
>set to release March 11, 2016
>we're just now hearing about it
So it's going to be dead on arrival? I can't imagine they can build up any significant hype up for this in just 3 months. Cloverfield had all that ARG shit and keeping the monster hidden for so long going for it. Movie itself may have been average but the whole thing was an experience that for a lot of people was unlike anything they've experienced before.
And what's with that name? How do we know this isn't just some unrelated horror/thriller movie JJ or some other suit thought was not going to sell well on its own, and then decided to stick the Cloverfield name into it to help sells?

That's exactly what this is, it was originally a movie called Valencia or The Cellar.
I'll be honest, Cloverfield was a better trailer than a film.
I really liked that very first trailer.
But the film didn't really live up to it. Well, I guess it sorta did, in that it focused on boring humans more than interesting kaiju, but still...
at least they got lizzy caplan 2.0 to to replace the original
The first one sucked, why should I care about this one?
Will there be MORE dumb looking monster? More people screaming someone else's name over and over while the camera has a seizure?
Pretty much this. I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard this playing during the credits.
That part always disturbed me.
Now if only this song felt like it belonged in this movie at all.
