Does anyone still play Gundam Extreme Versus here on /m/?
>Still no Sandrock EW and Altron EW playable
what the hell?
I just got it. It's got such a weird combo system for me since I'm coming from a more traditional fighting game back ground. Quick question before I dive into dustloop. Are most combos just a series of melee into that rainbow cancel into more melee with a single shot after the target gets downed?
Sorta, but for a B&B you want to try short stuff into BR, otherwise you really risk getting cut, or being caught with no boost. So unless your suit has combos with really good cut resistance (which are not most suits), it's good to get into the habit of just going for the fast knockdown and then getting back in formation.
Thanks. That makes sense. I keep getting my shit kicked in with whiff punishes lol The only suits i can get damage with is Alex because I can super armor through stuff and X1 with those whips into close range. Would you say a beginner like me should focus on movenent/footsies rather than damage?
Well, I think the most important thing to learn is that it's a team game. It's easy to forget because of how it's played, and the fighting game conventions it rests on, but the most important aspect I think is to remain aware of the flow of the match and how to best support your partner, depending on your comp.
As far as how to be yourself a better player, I'd say movement and boost management is the main thing. Damage and health management between you and your partner is really important, and your ability to both prevent damage to yourself and allow your partner to make the best of his own hp and damage opportunities rest on you knowing how to manage your distance, and in knowing not to get caught overboosted all the time while still dealing as much damage as you can.
When I started writing this, I wanted to say that I didn't think the standard idea of footsies applies all that well to this game, but I guess proper boost-management is broad enough to encompass it.
Fair warning since new players tend to do it but you don't want to overextend yourself when you attempt melee since it can leave you vulnerable. What I mean is when you go in for melee and they dodge it you shouldn't just keep chasing since you may end up wasting all of your boost, I'm not saying you will never be able to catch them but you need to know your limits.
>practice my acguy to hell and back
>room is just 4 gold NA (i presume) players
>barely win and switch to gouf
Man, didn't think my Acguy'd suck that much. Practiced all that shit like fuwa and amekyans and all too...
I'll try to get on. Kinda discouraged already though.
If they make Sandrock EW playable I hope they use a Beam machine gun and not shotel throw as its BR.
I know this is a Full Boost thing, but what makes Sandrock as God-tier as it seems to be. it doesn't seem to be like Banshee which does amazing at everything or Talgeese 2 which is impossible to hit with it's thruster bullshit.
interesting. maybe I just haven't seen high-tier play of Sandrock.
I know in Maxi, he's still pretty nuts, but seems to have been beaten out by the Blitz.
and then I looked at the 3000s and expected Norn and Zero to be the S-Gods...
Nightingale and Legilis? I'm guessing it's something along the lines of "Will you just run out of ammo for fuck's sake?!" and general "What is this, Brawl Metaknight?!"
Pretty sure sand was beating blitz and Norn was on top for quite some time but they were nerfed, nightingale and legilis are pretty new suits so they are still very strong but it is possible that this will change although mb-on will be released in a few months
when that mack knife coming out as DLC for Force?
I'm not dead. Also, has the EXVS threads been less busy lately, with less /m/ players around? That's the impression I'm getting. Have /m/ rooms died down?
I still would like to play with you guys including my brother Ibis.
Probably bad timing due to timezone differences. By the time they're made, it's like 3:00-4:00AM for me. I can only stick around that late for them on Fridays and Saturdays because I don't work on the days that come after them
>watch hyperion gameplay
>reloadable 50 ammo beam machine gun with shield
>can activate an active nu-esque shield
>has a mode where it give the machine gun infinite ammo
This thing seems retarded for just having only two ranged weapons.
THIS IS THE GAME THAT COULD'VE BEEN A FATHER TO ME
>EXVS:Force a shit
>MB-On coming march
>FB on life support
when bamco going to release MB PS3
>Finally get to bounce beams back at people
about fucking time.
lobby is up message for invite
entering maximum suffering while I wait for others
I feel TGIII is for super OCD people who like super precise movement, and like making things harder for themselves with medium reward. And they like the feel of sacrificing their ribs for unique movement
>year of the Apocalypse + 4
>be a gundam fan
>still living in the West
>MB console confirmed for never
how does it feel amerifats?
Are they doing this because they dont want gajinns to even play the game? So at the expense of their domestic console gamers, they forsake a console port of a soon to be outdated game, just to prevent us from playing it?
Sounds like chemo.
that really can't be true. thats just bad business. Force fucking failed in their own country and you damn well know hardly anyone in the west will buy force. so they shoot themselves in the foot again by not releasing MB PS3/4?
Bamco doesn't want players abandoning arcades for home consoles. Partly because they want to maintain an active competitive scene and also because they can jew even more money from players.
You get to charge players for every round unlike console ports which are really just one-time payments, don't have to spend resources on porting MB over, get to charge subscriptions for shit like Navis and themes and more. Even if you could gain a quick buck from DLC, that's STILL a one time payment. There's shitloads of players using themes and navis at the arcade
I frequentand you basically purchase a Navi for a limited number of uses before it expires and you have to repurchase them again.
From a business standpoint, it makes perfect sense. You're already being charged to play every round unlike a one time payment
Hence, serious/semi-serious players can get their competitive fix from the cabinets while casuals who want to beat up robots get a watered down port like Force. Wanna play online with other people? MBON has online play already.
If we were really getting an MB port, it should have been announced months ago even prior to TGS. It's not getting ported over, it's time to accept this and move on.
How so? It's not as if there's a rule set in stone. If there was an actual pattern like you're implying, we really should have gotten a port announcement during last year's TGS and have it be slated for release sometime next month.
Well, they might ported those to see whether they would pick up some side sale when the current fuzz is in the arcade. And the margin on those 2 games isn't worth the effort and resource to port them. Hence ditch further port and jewing their arcade players more.
To Bamco it's honestly not a big deal. They can make pretty damn good money on the console version too considering how much fucking DLC we end up buying over the lifetime of the games even if it is one time.
But for the arcade version they need to convince arcades to buy the damn things. And when a console version of a game comes out the arcade operators get absolutely fucked in the ass, since they make nothing from console sales. So promising them they won't port it (I assume the picture is of an industry flier) improves cabinet sales, keeps the arcade version viable while they can hopefully still shit out spinoff games with the same engine and assets, and makes more money for everyone.
>they need to convince arcades to buy the damn things
It is literally the most popular game in arcades, what the fuck are you going on about? It's beating pretty much every game out there, SF included.
Have you even been to the asian arcades? The cabinets are usually always full of players.
Street Fighter does fucking terrible in arcades because it has to be console-centric for its heavily western audience. This is the point.
BlazBlue still targets arcades and does well in arcades and as such consoles are always way the fuck behind and the foreign scene gets fucked. But they still port because story mode is a big deal for them too.
Well, EXVS is the reverse of SF isn't it then? It has no real Western audience to speak of, can easily net players due to how extremely popular it is and does not need a console release to cater to a specific audience. The players who play console EXVS have access to the cabinets anyway, and those looking for a more casual experience will be stuck with Force anyway.
>release Rise of Incarnates
>fail to understand that the genre has a niche appeal and try to simplify it somewhat
>EXVS playerbase condemns it
>casuals who try it half-assedly get floored and drop it, move onto the next F2P game
>shoot themselves in the foot day 1 of early access with the monetization (nevermind that it got fixed later on), staining the game's reputation and giving it a permanent mixed steam rating
>no effective marketing
>game dies about six months after official launch
>bring force to the west
>it's Vita which is one of the worst performing platforms of the generation over here
>majority of the western VS playerbase knows how hard it got panned in japan
>not even 2v2 local
>entire game is basically like those shit missions in FB where you go against like 5 grunts + a 3k
>will probably sell less than 10k copies
just release MBON on PS3 or steam
you can strip out all the music and voice acting if it costs too much
just bring it overrrr
i miss RoI, got like 400 hours out of it it inspired me to buy EXVS which i have an average match score of about 11k and a 30% win rate, but i love the genre so much i still play cuz its fun
I have to agree, it seriously does looks shopped. The Japanese fan base hate Force too and were demanding Maxi Boost console ports on various sites I browsed so I'd say this is some fan's sick joke.
Or it could be a handout given during a corporate presentation or something. Look at the corner, it's stapled together. Fake or no, the clock is ticking. If there's no announcement for a console port when MBON goes live, we can pretty much shelve the idea of it ever happening.
So, has anyone seen this yet? Looks like Epyon is getting the zero system and Strike Freedom is getting something too for MBON.
I heard that his combos were supposedly changed, which suddenly makes me wonder why Allenby doesn't have that crazy dash around attack in berserker system since they seeme to like having those types of moves in maxi.
Does anyone have anything concrete on whether or not we will ever see a Maxi boost console port?
All the time.
Just not online.
V2 is a madcunt in this game.
Of course you aren't. No one here will.
I would have had it not been gimped at launch. The fact that they are just adding in units that were already in Next+ is disgusting. We shouldn't be getting Strike Freedom, Master and shit like that now. Those should have been launch units. We should be getting Zabanya, Infinite Justice and shit like that.
People that was really into Gundam vs already moved on to EXVS, which in some way is a big step up from N+(game mechanic wise). Surely the roaster count for Force isn't something to shine, but the ability to play exvs on the bus has its charms.
I honestly ddin't think they'd support this game much. I was on the fence but now I'll totally buy it.
I would have bought it anyway since I've always wanted an EXVS on vita
>Still has dumbed down moveset and no legit multiplayer.
No thanks, there is no excuse for this not being EXVSfb or even Maxi but with worse graphics.
Its evident that the game can have the gameplay and characters with shitty graphics so why remove things? N+ did this shit way better.
>Made Victory gundam a 2k
>gottrlatan actually got some attention.
now will gottrlatan finally get a new win pose? been 3 games and still that one pose...i want a new one.
also I hope they make CSa and CSb better. especially CSb, never use it cause its hard to connect
I guess I should rephrase it as "sell Full Boost to a friend and stop hoping for future releases + ignore news altogether"
I have local buddies to play with. The framerate drop is shit, but it's easy to get over it after a match or two.
Buying imports digitally has always seemed like too much of a hassle, but maybe I'm just retarded.
30 fps seriously isn't that hard to get used to, though. Maybe I'm just too old to give a shit about frame rates. The difference is noticeable, sure, I just don't give a shit unless it's inconsistent or drops below 30.
I can only imagine. I'm too lazy to import pretty much anything that isn't Gundam. Though if I ever learn Japanese I'll import a shit load of games just to skirt this shitty censorship renaissance in the west.
Come to think of it, porting it to PS4 might be why it's taking long, because that actually takes a bit of time since PS3/4 use different frameworks. Of course, I'm just being optimistic at this point.
