The modern methodology of backgrounds are a plague. So many shows and scenes get described as "beautiful" or "visually impressive" when the actual character artwork and action is standard or even lackluster, just because someone's gone out with a camera to photograph real locations and run them through a few Photoshop filters or slapped a shot of their mom's quilt drawer back there and called it a surrealist masterpiece.

Few people actually both to DRAW backgrounds anymore, and when they do they're still the same static mess.

No idea about the manga, the anime seems like a yuri ecchi-ish moe comedy with ball-jointed cyborg lolis.

All of those words sound great to me so I'm going to be watching it.

Not only because the subject matter is distasteful and cynical, but also because the guy who pitched it used to have FAR better ideas.

As far as I'm concerned even if he only had a minimal input into it, this is worse than horsecocks and oily porn.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
There were bits I could see Shirow in when they talked about the control software and the nice touches on the guns and the geofront business.
The subject material doesn't bother me, and this guy >>13731793 is a raging homosexual for letting that kind of thing bother him.
The problem I had with it was that everything that wasn't a part of the technical explanations was completely dull and unoriginal and beside the doll joints, the visual design is awful.
Basically it seems like every good part of the show is coming from Shirow, but it's still not enough to make it worth watching.

Still it's nice to see some of his old touches after so long.
