Tell me what to watch /m/
/m/ is a vast sea of idk what the fuck to do with. Where do I start? Seen a couple of rec images but eh.
I liked Gunbuster, Ebangerion and Five Star Stories (latter for the designs).
Might give Gasaraki a try but that /k/ lvl turns me off. I also liked Diebuster and Gurren Lagann but don't see them as relevant.

fuck off you try hard faggot

Try Code Geass or Bokurano for more entry level mech.
You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone say anything bad about Neo Ranga. A great mix of comedy and drama that keeps building up the pace and suspense. That's always my default recommendation.

Tried to watch the OG series but couldn't handle it, can I just watch the ovas like that? What about GaoGaiGar, can I just watch the new one without having seen the original? Loved the intro but animation rehash level was so goddamn high.
>>13723918
Code Geass char design looks awful, is it really worth? Bokurano looks good, might give it a shot.
>>13723948
Is this a watch order? Is DYRL stand alone?
>>13723952
Never heard of that. Quick googlefu led me to pic related. Is that it in terms of mech?

Dougram's alright. Lengthy, very political, also the spiritual predecessor of VOTOMs. Combined arms, guerrilla fighting, intrigue, fun stuff.
Video quality for the series is bad though, as all of the master reels were lost. Still discernible, and a fun series at any rate.
>>13724094
>can I just watch the ovas like that?
Yeah, and the manga is good too, unless you're a spic.
>What about GaoGaiGar, can I just watch the new one without having seen the original?
The other entries in the Brave franchise are unrelated. There's only GaoGaiGar and GaoGaiGar FINAL, which is a fun OVA sequel that's pointless to if you haven't seen the show.
>Code Geass char design looks awful, is it really worth?
It's probably the most popular /m/ show after Evangelion for a reason. It's a love-it-or-hate-it type of deal.
>Bokurano looks good, might give it a shot.
It's fantastic.
>Is this a watch order? Is DYRL stand alone?
That's just a list of all Macross-related stuff. Production order is always watch order. DYRL is stand-alone but the original series is just as good.
>Never heard of that. Quick googlefu led me to pic related. Is that it in terms of mech?
Neo Ranga is an underrated gem, definitely watch that, though it's not really essential if you're just starting out with mecha shows. VOTOMs, Gundam, and Macross are the most oft-recommended essential classics.

>Tried to watch the OG series but couldn't handle it
The Getter tv series are all by Toei. They're pretty much kid commercials.
The OVAs on the other hand, are not by Toei, and are actually based on the original manga material, but with massive changes to the plot line.
You should probably read the manga since they offer a coherent chronological storyline, but if you're not into that, then just stick with the OVAs, and each one of them is in their own standalone universe.
Manga read order

As for GGG Final, there is also an expanded TV version called Grand Glorious Gathering. From what I've heard, it's more friendly to viewers who haven't seen the first series, and cuts down on fanservice compared to OVA version. I haven't seen either version yet, so can't tell how true is it. The TV cut isn't as known as the OVA one, anyway, because it wasn't fully English subbed until last year.

>I haven't seen either version yet, so can't tell how true is it.
If you don't have knowledge about something then don't fucking talk about it. The TV version is the same as the OVA, only with pointless recaps and narration spread throughout. There's absolutely no reason to watch it.

Nice! At least worth a look
>>13724140
>Yeah, and the manga is good too, unless you're a spic.
Ovas it is then, if im going to get into mech manga id probably dive into Five Star Stories
>DYRL is stand-alone

Cool, will most likely give it a go, I like the style.

Thank you
Got what I wanted now, thanks for all the info, especially the Macross and Gundam images. So hard to figure out whats a good place to start. Shouldn't there be an essential viewing list out there tho?

When you update it you lazy fuck
I'm surprised the spic hasn't caught on to this thread yet.
I guess you just have to avoid mentioning anything DP related in the OP and you're fine.
He browses the catalog just to find Getta threads for his shitposting habits.
>>13724226
>seriously recommending anything Getter related or even Getter-like
That's almost as bad as recommending something Mazinger related at this point.
>>13726721
>shitposting
Oh yes, every opinion that doesn't agree with yours is shitposting. Nobody is allowed to dislike anything DP related as long as their lovely fanbase is constantly on the prowl, waiting to bitch whenever someone so much as suggests that their series might not be good or even decent. Nice to see you continuing to use that boogeyman, by the way.
Holy shit he's here.
Bye.
