Is it just me, or did the show's budget hit like a goddamn tank at the halfway point. I thought something was weird about the two filler episodes, but I feel like I'm starting to notice more and more obvious cost-cutting? When it started out, I thought the animation was pretty high-tier, if below the "late 90s Sunrise" tier; but after the recap episode, I'd put it well below Evangelion.

yeah that happened with a lot shows around that time
At least it wasn't Lost Universe, which had a QUALITY episode so bad that it had to be reanimated for home releases.

Wasn't the japanese recession somewhere around then?
Xebec is such a weird history. They started out making great interesting shows, and nowadays they are just Production IG's secondary site, in addition to making boobie anime now and then.

What are you talking about? They still make great shows.

Still angry about the lack of eyecandy in Argevollen

Wasn't the studio destroyed by a fire during production?

it was certainly the end of the animation boom if nothing else
