Mazinkaiser is the only good Mazinger anime. If Shin Mazinger had Hiroya Ishimaru as Kouji it might've been better, as one of the major problems with it was his new VA sounding fucking annoying.

It's not annoying, it's overtly aggressive; but that's just the performance. When I read the manga, the voice I imagined was more similar to Shin's that the original's. That said, the original Kouji has grown on me as the lighthearted, goofy bastard he is. He's just not good at calling the attacks.

Dub Kouji would be perfect if it weren't for the fact that he couldn't pronounce anyone's name. Actually, Mazinkaiser had a pretty good dub all around barring pronounciation and Tetsuya. Manga and ADV were pretty damn good at dubs. How did Funimation end up monopolizing everything? Was it the DBZ?

Dr. Hell's and both of Baron Ashura's VAs were were all fantastic. They got the Saturday morning cartoon villain thing down pat. The performance on the Yumi's birthday episode was top-tier.

ADV's biggest stumbling block was that they were founded on the rule of 'get a bunch of stuff cheap and use the profits to splurge on a couple of high end titles where we can'.

This was all well and good back in the day when watching anime on the internet was more niche. Then the fansub boom happened.

Suddenly, people were able to see these shows for themselvs before the disc releases.
Which, unfortunately, sort of fucked a lot of ADV's system - since now people had seen these shows in advance, and so a lot of the 'got it on the cheap' stuff didn't sell like it used to.

The whole system broke down from there.
