I like it now, but I abhor its alternate forms.
I see a pattern this season in that I hate alterations to the base suits and straight powerup suits.

Ghost, Boost, Grateful (from what I can see), Specter, and Necrom all look good. Only Specter's alternate Eyecons are anything close to okay.

Too bad boost is marred by the Sunglasslasher, though. No rhyme or reason for its existence on top of forgoing any spooky motif and looking dumb. At least the Saber had a chandelier thing going for it. Granted it got fucked whenever you attached something to it, bu that just confirms my dislike for the alternate form who make that happen.

I was going for the fact that Haiku was an Oni who died and came back as an Orphenoch, though I'm not sure which Orphenoch would work best for someone who was already a demon.

Also there was going to be this whole thing about combining his Onkaku with a Faiz Belt due to something about him not being able to access the Pure Sound because he's now an Orphenoch (Think of it like running a hevily corrupted music file through a defrag progam just to get the song out of it.)

I feel Sanjo was more clever about the movie suits and power ups this time around than most have been in previous post decade seasons. Of all the suits spawn from Drive, I can only fault him for type Fruits which probably wasn't his idea anyway.

Fourze had to befriend everything that ever existed throughout all of time and space and then fucking die and come back to life for his power ups.

Gaim just had to cooperate with an alien forest god.
Drive had Rinna techmagic him some upgrades.

Fourze and Wizard's are bland.
Gaim was.....particular. There was some originality there but the execution didnt always go along. For example, Sagara giving him Jinba Lemon was great to even out the fact that Kouta was too retarded against Kaito and Micchy's superior intelligence. The problem is that then he gave him Kachidoki and Kiwami which pretty much cemented Sagara wanted Kouta to win instead of the battle royale he proposed. I always say that it should have been Sagara who gave yomotsuheguri to Micchy which would explain why it can use Overlord's weapons, and why its customized for Micchy's forms. Add some foreshadowing of Lord Baron and it would sorta patch everything up.
Drive was, as I said too safe.
Ghost was kinda particular. Then again, given his motif, him being acknowledged by musashi, Beethoven and so on makes some sense.

My favourite upgrade hadling is definitely Survive, I liked that it made sense within the flow of the story (Kanzaki wanted Raia and Ryuki to get their shit together) and how it was supposed to be for a Rider that wasnt the main nor the secondary(the first card I mean)

The worst is, of course, Kiva's Tatsulot, even though we all know the reason for that.

However they came about, Drive got it pretty good with Rider suits, even down to the kitbashes. At least in the story department, say what you will about how they look. The problem I have with Sagara is that when the Sigurd arc started and Kaito and Kouta were trying to figure out how to get to Helheim he makes a joke about not being sure which one of them to choose, and if it was even going to be one of them at all, and then he goes to Yggdrasil and says it wouldn't be fair for him to just help one side and not the other, but all he does for Yggdrasil is confirm Ryoma's suspicions. After that he clearly favors Kouta and forgets that anyone else in the show even exists. You're right that it should have been Sagara who gave Micchy his final form. It's not like Sagara himself had any say in who Mai chose so why would it matter to him if Micchy killed Kouta? Sagara should have been more snake-like, going around behind everyone's backs and playing them all against each other.

Shin's suffering was around using the forms themselves. Like he can't use Deadheat for long since he is using the Drive system and Formula being an older Shift Car made it more dnagerous to use while being more powerful.

Don't forget that Shin had to pretty much die for Tridoron and his friends had to get him back WITHOUT the help of friendship space magic.

I think Drive was better because it was less wishy-washy. Shin's friends had to actually do something to save him with no seemingly unlimited in power friendship space magic to do the work for them. They all had to make and follow through with a plan or not get Shin back at all. On top of that, the plan was one that could easily be threatened by Roidmudes (and was).

It may not be as heartwarming as Fourze, but I felt it had better tension which made the small journey and reward much more satisfying.
