>lives in durka durka land
>doesn't wear a hijab/niqab/burka
>somehow doesn't ending getting stoned to death or brutally raped
The rebels were desperate to throw off their ZAFT overlords they chose not to enforce dress regulation.
Hell, they didn't force the Archangel crew to dress like sand dwellers either while temporarily aiding them.
Cagalli is actually kind of mannish looking. They called her their 'Princess' because they thought she was actually just an effeminate boy who they took turns anally raping.
Well not really rape because she didn't say no. And because she liked it.
A doujin told me this and they're definitely canon.
Her bodyguard also happens to be a high-ranking member of the rebels as well as a high-ranking Orb officer who also happens to have special forces training.
The dude is the Desert Snake equivalent of Solid and Naked Snake, with all the espionage missions and bodyguard duties he does.
You just can't stuff his young ward with your cocks unless you want to find yourself forcefully eating your own cock faster than you realize it was sliced off.
Doujins told me Cagalli has major incestuous tendencies and that the child of a SEED-capable Ultimate Coordinator and a SEED-capable Natural would guarantee the birth of a God.
>Doujins told me Cagalli has major incestuous tendencies and that the child of a SEED-capable Ultimate Coordinator and a SEED-capable Natural would guarantee the birth of a God.
Considering what Dr. Hibiki wanted to accomplish, I think this is exactly what he wanted. He wanted his children to be the new Adam and Eve. He probably knew that George Glenn gave humanity only part of the procedure that made him a Coordinator and figured out independently that Coordinators needed to breed with Humans to overcome the eventual genetic degeneration should a Coordinator not breed with a Natural.
This is like 8000 years in the future. In CE, the "anno domini" bullshit has been over for far longer than it's been practiced irl. The last vestiges of religion were seen back in Origin (ZZD's church funeral), Unicorn (the church in Palau), and 00 (the wedding chapel). All that shit got blasted to bits in AWGX and was never rebuilt in Wing, AGE, G, etc so by the time of SEED it's just one of those curiosities of ancient civilizations, like cave paintings or legends about the earth floating on a turtle's back.
>This is like 8000 years in the future. In CE, the "anno domini" bullshit has been over for far longer than it's been practiced irl
SEED and Destiny take place between 70 and 74CE, 'anno domini bullshit' was dropped in CE 9. That's 65 years by the end of the series, whilst AD has been used IRL for roughly 1500 years.
>She's really from HawaiiNipponTechLand
ORB's full name is the United Emirates of ORB. An Emirate is an Islamic principality, which resulted in the nation being renamed in the English release to avoid controversy.
And if you actually read the CE timeline, there was religious opposition to making people into Coordinators a generation prior to the events of the show, especially after a fatal disease broke out and religious leaders said it was because God was angry people were tampering with His creation.
Also, in 8000 years we go back to flipphones and having mags about High and Mighty Colour?
ORB also happened to be started by a number of influential and extremely wealthy families.
And was rich enough to manage their own space program, including building their own colony, and starting construction on an orbital elevator (which was halted due to war; with the Sahaku family claiming the elevator station as their base of operations).
So if anything ORB was more HawaiiUAETechLand.
Also there's no reason a modern group couldn't just use an archaic word for whatever reason. League Militaire or Legion Of Doom, for example.
Also let's not forget that Londo Bell is only "Londo Bell" because Tomino thought the Liberty Bell was in London. Just because it has the word "Emirate" in it doesn't necessarily mean the writers intended for it to be an islamic state.
So a bunch of wealthy families team up and buy some Polynesian islands. Some of them are emirs, or they just model their oligarchy after an emirate. Then they adopt the worship of Polynesian gods, even if it's just a sentimental thing. Then Orb becomes heavily Japanized due to immigration.
It's a little wacky, but I like it.
Tying the CE into the Dark History is optional. But even if we do place it in the far future, the world of year 1 CE is a world which heavily resembles a near-future of ours. George Glenn was an American, and I remember a White House still being a seat of power for the Atlantic Federation.
Still, if a Polynesian island can become a Japanese emirate in the near future, prudish Muslims can get used to a little skin.
>George Glenn was an American, and I remember a White House still being a seat of power for the Atlantic Federation.
This is why you just ignore the Black history concept all the time. There are at least 4 AD's, and 4 United States of America in existance in Gundam Timelines. UC (US flag in Unicorn ep 1), G gundam ( I don't need to explain this), SEED (Glenn went to MIT played American Football, and the White house was the AF top house), 00 (I don't need to explain this). The idea of history looping and recreating the same country 4 times is more than hilarious.
>G gundam ( I don't need to explain this)
Technically that was Neo America... but yeah.
>The idea of history looping and recreating the same country 4 times is more than hilarious.
It's patriotic. America is such a wonderful concept that, throughout the eons, disparate leaders will cultivate the very same nation, either inspired by ancient legends, or through a sort of convergent evolution.
But seriously, ignoring the Dark History might be the best choice 99% of the time, but if a fan, or even a showrunner wants to go down that rabbit hole, let them. Turn A already tore that particular hymen, and there's no surgery to repair it. Then there's the timeline-melding interpretation.
> Then Orb becomes heavily Japanized due to immigration.
Not really. See, the royal families came from Japan. They bailed on the homeland when war and natural disasters tore the place up. When they set up their emirate, they opened up their boarders to all immigrants who agreed to follow two things: Orb's laws and customs.
Which includes worship of at least one Hawaiian fertility goddess.
That's Fukuda's ideal Japan. A Japan where the general populace has no meaningful power politically and it's answer to racism is to make people give up their cultural identity.
>America is such a wonderful concept that, throughout the eons, disparate leaders will cultivate the very same nation, either inspired by ancient legends, or through a sort of convergent evolution.
I like you anon.
>Not really. See, the royal families came from Japan.
I thought ORB's ruling families were from around the world, who got sick and tired of the EA's shit and thus formed a nation where everyone is almost considered equal; doesn't matter if you're a coordinator or a natural, or if you where black or white or any skin color between. All that mattered was following the rules and probably converting to worshipping any gods or goddesses besides a christian god.
>who got sick and tired of the EA's shit and thus formed a nation where everyone is almost considered equa
EA only formed a few months before SEED began in CE 70, ORB first emerged following the Reconstruction War in CE 09.
I see I mixed up my SEED history lesson. It's been so long since I last read up on SEED's world setting.
Backstage drama aside, I thought it was pretty cool how Arthrun and Cagalli didn't end up together. I like it when you get couples you never could've seen coming, like Arthrun and Lunamaria's little sister, or Setsuna and Feldt. (Even if the latter was unrequited. It meant something.)
>The last vestiges of religion were seen back in Origin (ZZD's church funeral), Unicorn (the church in Palau), and 00 (the wedding chapel)
You forgot that Islam is still a thing in ZZ, since when they're in the desert they come across muslims doing one of their daily prayers.
>Also there's no reason a modern group couldn't just use an archaic word for whatever reason. League Militaire or Legion Of Doom, for example.
I'm pretty sure people don't use Legion of Doom because it makes people think you have a secret base in the form of a giant darth vader head in a swamp and you frequently meet with other evildoers on how to destroy the Superfriends.
Let me see what I have.
Got about 5 gigs worth of GS/GSD images to dig through.
90% of them from /m/ way back when.
>There is no justice in this world
What do you mean, it's right here
Fuck it, just going to post what I run across.
I got to sort this folder.
Hrm. Plenty of Cagalli in various dresses, but few in that dress Waltfeld let her keep.
I give. Too many Lunamaria and Lacus/Meer. /m/ REALLY loved those 3.
>which resulted in the nation being renamed in the English release to avoid controversy
Whoa. You murkans really, really hate arabs so much that they can't even be portrayed positively in fiction anymore without producing a riot?
>Whoa. You murkans really, really hate arabs so much that they can't even be portrayed positively in fiction anymore without producing a riot?
They went edit-crazy after parents complained about them marketing toys called Deathscythe Hell. Don't you remember Burning Gundam and the Dark Gundam?
Would Athrun share Cagalli with Kira if they didn't know they were related?
I mean, given how close Athrun and Kira were, after all.
I think that's true,I used to come across the rare ShinnXCagalii image years ago when SEED was more relevent.
I guess from the first episodes where Shinn was always mad at her they saw that and made it into a "sexual tension" type of situation
There's also a few fanfics where it was hatesex, with some of it turning to some sort of bizarre comfortsex.
Yes, I went there long ago and read it all, just to see what possible reasons did they pair some characters with another.
But anon you do realize that durka durka land used to be one of the most advanced civilization out there? And it slowly coming back if you look at the right places.
I just like fan art that puts characters in normal situations (i.e. sitting near the ocean/beach and just talking).
It's just nice. Especially since it looks like they're supposed to be in Orb since that looks like the south Pacific.
Well I have like at least 100 KxC images that I have been collecting over the years, some good, some...odd, and others...revealing.
I'm gonna post some more before I hit the sack.
Pic: This is my favorite.
You know what was the funniest? All those Kira/Caga pairings, before the writers realized they were indeed siblings. Some of them straight-up dropped their works; even deleted them, as they couldn't handle incest at all.
Others charged in and wrote some hot, steamy cheating stories where they live lies married to someone else, while meeting up for some vile incestuous action. Kind of like some hentai involving cheating and incest.
Not the KxC poster, but I do share what I have every now and then.
Last one for tonight, gentlemen.
If the thread is still alive tomorrow, I'll throw in some more pictures.
I always liked KxC, before and afer the truth.
To me, they fucked the entire show up with the incest (I still ship them to the bitter end).
I just wish I lived in a world where they aren't siblings.
Imagine the SIZE and scope of that KxC community....
>And it slowly coming back if you look at the right places.
Not Dubai though. It's just a huge ass supermarket for rich from Africa and Middle East + jobs for expats. The only really advanced Allahu akbar country is Turkey.
That attire is based on official art too, I think. But probably too bold for a tomboy princess to wear now that her father is dead and she had to take over.
Serious question; does Cagalli ever wear a bra?
I mean almost every official and unofficial bit of art has her wearing none, unless it's for an intimate scene.
I'm with you on this one. Her relationship with Kira was the only one that never felt parasitic. With Flay it was constant manipulation, and with Lacus it's jump into the freedom and be my white knight. Cagalli's relationship in contrast just felt natural.
Yes, in destiny before she goes into the hot-spring.
which ones? For research purposes of course.
I cant find the vanilla image for it. I made an earlier one that had "almost" in it, but I later changed it to the one above.
But then again...maybe they did
Sure, its just a TV show with a popular culture surrounding it.
Woops, forgot image.
If you dipshits have bothered to read the backstory for the CE, you'd learned that, in the aftermath of Evidence 01's arrival, religion barely has any influence in the Cosmic Era.
>The world's religious authorities gather at the Palestine Conference, but are unable to reach any conclusions, and their influence begins to wane.
Did you bother to read after that point?
> C.E. 55
> Religious authorities claim that the Type S2 outbreak is a divine punishment, and public opinion again turns against genetic modification. The Torino Protocol is adopted, and genetic modification is once again prohibited anywhere on Earth. Anti-Coordinator sentiments increase among the Naturals.
I've heard that making tomboys more feminine is a way to show they've matured and grown up in Japan. Was Destiny Cagalli an attempt to follow that cliche that didn't translate well to the Western audience (like the plight of the Orb soldiers)?
When I was younger I introduced a friend to Gundam SEED. I didn't like it much but it was accessible and available, so I thought it would be a good way to introduce her to Gundam. She really got into it, and Cagalli was her favourite character. I advised her against watching Destiny, but she watched it anyway, reasoning that I described SEED as bad too, and she liked it anyway.
Later I got a text message that read something along the lines of 'why does the director hate Cagalli so much now?'
I tend to think that SEED is not really all that much better than Destiny, but what happened to some of the characters must have driven some fans up the wall. Like imagine your favourite character was Assram, and then you start watching Destiny.
It wasn't popular in Nipland either, and hell until she gets kidnapped by Kira literally all anyone says about her is she's too immature to handle being the leader of Orb as she continually makes fucking retarded decisions.
That's one of the best compliments since Kira is one of the prettiest girls ever.
Pretty much everyone does, its just Hisashi Hirai's lazy character designs.
>I tend to think that SEED is not really all that much better than Destiny, but what happened to some of the characters must have driven some fans up the wall. Like imagine your favourite character was Assram, and then you start watching Destiny.
Athrun was my favorite surviving character after Yzak. Then Destiny ended with him sucking on Kira's balls. There's a reason I like to pretend Destiny is non-canon to the broadcast version of SEED.
>"Shinn, why are you carrying a machine gun?"
>"I'll protect you, Stella."
>"...but it's a wed-"
>"I SAID, I'LL PROTECT YOU, STELLA."
>Stella notices the Freedom figurine sitting on top of the wedding cake and freaks out.
>Shinn guns down the entire wedding cake.
>"See? I'll protect you."
>Rey and Luna facepalm.
>Kira gets an upgraded wedding cake from Lacus.
>what i expected: CE hate thread iteration # God-knows-what
>what i got: delicious Cagalli artwork
i've always fapped to her, from way back during SEED's original broadcast. dat toned, tomboyish princess body, man.
While I disagree with Fllay first; on the grounds that I have a strong long hair and pink hair fetish, I do agree with you on the second.
We should consider a Fllay or Lacus/Meer (or just a pink hair general) thread after this one dies off. Just like old times.
Londo Bell is called Londo bell because it's based in Londinium the colony. It might have been a world play on Rondo too because it works in Japanese. Reference to Big ben is of course there as well.
I am pretty sure they call ORB emirates just to be modern instead of calling it the United Shogunate of Orb
Given what happened to most of Destiny's cast, I'd argue she was one of many victims of character massacre.
Given that Coordinators went from 'genetically altered superhumans' to 'slightly better than average people who live in space', I'd argue outright character genocide.
Anyone have pictures/art of her in her SEED pilot suit?
>Also, I just wanted to point out that the timeline lists Lacus giving Kira the Freedom 3 freaking days before the attack on Alaska
I've been arguing about that for a while now. It's a massive inconsistency...
...on the series' part. If ZAFT is on L5, then, effectively, it would've taken him about three days to arrive to Earth. Orbital dynamics still apply.
>...on the series' part. If ZAFT is on L5, then, effectively, it would've taken him about three days to arrive to Earth. Orbital dynamics still apply.
See, this is why it's not a bad idea for a MS to have a toilet.
Weren't they talking about how the attack was going on at just that minute before Kira got the Freedom?
Yes and no they did get people from all over the world but a large percentage were Japanese due to Japan getting pounded harder than a Loli in a Party Van by nature then stomped by the east asian republic or whatever it was called.
With being smaller than Hawaii yet being a huge economic/industrial powerhouse with extensive political connections a top tier military with superior tech and numbers sufficient to take on superpowers etc etc. The country is basicaly Galt's Gulch: Island edition.
It goes like this refugee's from all over move onto shitty tiny volcanic islands to avoid constant wars/rebellions. Japan asplodes and the Rich fuck off to new island leaving the poor Japs to burn/drown. Rich fucks from other nations see Rich japs taking over and decide they want in on this plan. Bake it in the oven for 45mins and presto one overpower mary sue nation filled with bullshit.
