Are you going to watch this, /m/?
A less ugly Akane meets platabor with metal heroe?
Of course. So I can shitpost positively or negatively and know what I'm actually shitposting about unlike 90% of /m/ who shitposts what they never watched.
Actually, I don't think I'll even bother to shitpost; but I will definitely watch it.
Yeah, on account that it's /m/ and there isn't much else I'm watching this season.
Seriously, Winter 2016's lineup is pretty meh. I'm only checking Sekko Boys and Ojii-san to Marshmallow on the non /m/ side of things due to their silly sounding plots. The only other one that looks kinda cool is Prince of Stride, but that is probably nothing more than fujobait. Good season to get through backlog at any rate.
Probably not when it airs and gonna wait for blurays. Watchings things at your own pace possibly with friends or family is much better than watching with strangers in the net trying to fit in some mold of dumbed down discussion. Especially as this shares staff person with Code Geass so you will have people going"its a trainwreck ^D"
Akane isn't ugly
She looks better the more I AM THE LAAAAAAAAAW she becomes.
Expecting a lot of QUALITY after the 3rd episode since it's done by IMS.
ANN keeps writing their news about this anime by stating it's directed by the one who did Code Geass, it's gonna be an another A/Z with all the normalfags watching this anime and praising it even if it ends up to be shit.
>trying to fit in some mold of dumbed down discussion
Thank goodness I've largely stopped discussing airing anime on 4chan. I usually manage ~20 shows per season, but god knows I'll only just lurk in a thread for one, sometimes two, of them for a bit one week. I couldn't give a fuck what /a/ thinks about anime, since you're never going to get anything worthwhile going there except maybe news.
I think it's interesting enough to have a police meets tokusatsu show in this day and age, so yes. I will be watching Active Raid myself. The Orange 3DCG will also make the fights decent, which is a bonus. The rest of the 2D animation is only "meh" but that's never been a priority for me (there have been many bad shows with great animation).
The only things it has in common with Code Geass are the chief director and the composer. None of the writers are working on this. Anyone who calls this a "trainwreck" might as well say the same about Tiger and Bunny.
Eh, I don't think this is being hyped up even a quarter as much as A/Z so I don't expect too many normalfags to be watching. The vague Code Geass connection won't be enough for people who expect a show with a different premise (teens rebelling or saving the world) and not "heroic police" for instance.
There will be some QUALITY but even Sunrise has been giving us some of that with Gundam IBO lately, so it's business as usual for the anime industry.
I think she'll be like Blue Rose from Tiger and Bunny, in that we'll see some in-universe commercials plus bits of T&A but won't be the main focus of the story.,She's a lot less visible in the newer key visual with the rest of the crew.
She's cute in both.
While she was already going full hard boiled near the end of s1, my only regret about s1 would that they should have showed more of it. I don't feel like watching s2 for this sole reason, as s1 was perfectly fine stand alone, and s2 feels like milking as the original writer Urobuchi didn't write it.
I think most of the cast is already out of high school at this point, so I don't think it will be too anime. On the other hand, I do expect some slice of life/sitcom sequences, just like with T&B and Patlabor to provide comedy, since it can't be all action all the time.
There was a bit where it showed kids in highschool uniforms.
Tiger and Bunny did it well so it isn't impossible but just looking at it T&B looks less generic. Like the cast wasn't largely made up of a lot of generic looking anime girls who could be swapped out with any number of other ones. I know book by it's cover and that's just the common style but the air about this show with images like this >>13703543 just doesn't give me a huge amount of faith
There are literally only two (2) secondary/tertiary characters in high school.
One is the twin sister of the girl with the pony tail, and the other is a school council president dude. Everyone else isn't attending, so my view standards.
Keep in mind that plenty of people also called T&B generic....even in this very thread, but also outside of it.
I will give you that this show is using a more normal anime art style rather than a Marvel/DC comics derivative or something, but it's not like we kill ourselves every time a character isn't drawn differently in our /m/ shows.
As for the "air about this show"...again, have you looked at the PVs as well as the rest of the art? If you're just focusing on one picture, it's silly. Even Majestic Prince had promotional pictures in magazines showing all the girls in bikinis or whatever and that didn't take over the show.
I don't see that as a bad thing as long as it isn't a primary setting. Supposedly
that school gets destroyed in the second episode.so you'll probably breathe safely when that happens.
The PV focuses on showing us about seven or eight members of the cast, of which only about half are girls. It's not one guy surrounded by a harem.
Furthermor, there's nothing wrong with having a cute idol/mascot or similar character. It's a selling point for Macross as well as many other shows. It's how the industry works, but that doesn't make a show bad.
That assistant inspector main girl doesn't look like a clueless moeblob to me. In fact, she is going to be pushing the other characters to act more mindful of justice and duty, etc.
It's pushing the same thing most anime do, both mecha and otherwise. Or do you think Blue Rose wasn't cute or didn't get a few close-ups of her ass back in T&B?
>half are girls. It's not one guy surrounded by a harem.
I mean you are just kind of making my point for me here
>there's nothing wrong with having a cute idol/mascot or similar character.
saturation and following trend for sales
Which ties it in well, similar to how Blue Rose added to the point of what super heroes in that world were like and she wasn't just there to be cute. This looks like she'll be an app or something, could this be tied in well to the themes and ideas of the show? Maybe, maybe not. Observing that it may just be forced in there is a valid point
>pushing the other characters to act more mindful of justice and duty, etc.
Being bossy doesn't stop the character design being incredibly generic and add to that this show may be trying to sell on that. In fact I really don't get where you got this bossy means she isn't a generic moeblob characters. What most shows do these days is give a selection of girls with each handed a trope. You'll have the angry one, shy one, goofy one etc
You can say well maybe it will be different but nothing is really pointing that way and the best we have is hopefully these elements won't be as over blown as it is in the marketing. There is so little of the toku in there it feels like a side note
>>half are girls. It's not one guy surrounded by a harem.
>I mean you are just kind of making my point for me here
Not him, but what does this mean?
He's saying there's a balanced cast, not a cliche harem situation.
>There is so little of the toku in there it feels like a side note
Oh...you're a tokushitter. I guess that explains some of your denseness.
>There is so little of the toku in there it feels like a side note
Would you prefer something that's like 70 percent toku jokes?
>Not him, but what does this mean?
He point out that half the cast (looks like more really) is modeblobs, and then saying there isn't going to be any of that shit. Then again harem anime has got so bad they have to take out any other males and add 40 girls as it may offend the delicate otaku sensibilities otherwise
>Oh...you're a tokushitter.
Gee it's like someone on /m/ would be interested in this cause the toku bit which is why it is being posted here.
It's what made Akibaranger good
Something something Blaze of Disaster
But seriously she just happens to have some magic weapon from Ireland they dug up, like how a couple of Japanese girls have stuff from Norse mythology.
So you think it would be better to have ten men and one girl or ten girls and one guy?
Then we should kill ourselves since trends all over anime. They always have been and always will be.
At this point there's less observation and more speculation to be honest.
You're just calling the character generic because you don't like her gender and/or design, regardless of what role she will play within the narrative. I was using that to illustrate that having such a personality can in fact be a good starting point for a character. If you prefer some other kind of personality then so be it, but I think it's a decent one.
It's already pretty different from the rest of the shows airing this season (and the last) so I think it's fair to assume the show will be interesting and entertaining enough for those who don't immediately fall over as soon as something seems "generic" .
For that matter, you remind me that toku has plenty of female and/or girl characters these days, for which they also choose cute actresses. Ergo, that's not something that can be avoided in that genre either. You going to dismiss all those shows as generic too?
The main characters are four girls and four guys. A larger look at the cast suggests something like six girls and six guys. I don't see any predominance of females at all.
For the record, the writer for this anime is the same guy who wrote Akibaranger (Arakawa).
>What most shows do these days is give a selection of girls with each handed a trope. You'll have the angry one, shy one, goofy one etc
Do you realize this applies to almost every mecha show and most toku productions as well?
From SDF Macross to 7 and Frontier to Delta, or from Zeta Gunadm to ZZ and G Gundam to Wing or SEED to 00.
Characters who are physically attractive and have some easily identifiable traits is nothing strange. However, they can still be decent characters even if they have such elements.
It's really only in harem situations that one trait dominates a character in a terrible way because there is little need to tie them to a story and the status quo must be protected at all costs. Which isn't necessarily the case since there is no harem involve here and Active Raid isn't adapting a light novel or some such where circular situations are normal.
I think this show might be a a bit like Majestic Prince in that it won't look all that new and unusual at first glance but may actually turn out to be a pretty fun experience in the long run. Certainly more than shows like Valvrave that tried to go all insane but had nothing of value to show for it.
A few more songs from the soundtrack were playing during the preview event and I think it sounds pretty great.
I'm going to argue people over simplify Valvrave to disingenuous effect as well as excessively praise MJP, also to disingenuous effect.
And that anyone who puts the two shows in the same post with even the slightest intent to relate the two is more than likely a shitposter out to revive 2013posting.
Mostly, that namedropping both shows in the same post is a shitpost red flag.
Not that guy, but I actually agree with most everything you just wrote. MJP is an enjoyable show, but has been overrated for shit posting purposes. Forced fanbase wars are as stupid now as they were in 2009. There are earlier examples, but it's hard to beat the forced fanbase wars between Shin Mazinger and Basquash in terms of stupidity.
The nationality is stronger on Airgetlam than the other suits, since you can see something that vaguely points to the country of origin.
In terms of the fangirls and their shipping practices, absolutely yes.
But the actual show seems potentially different Look at the picture at top of the page. I think it's quite possible the male and female leads are going to be treated as either real and/or perceived love interests.
At least the dancing isn't supposed to look organic here, since the power suits are going to be chunks of metal and plastic that should inherently restrict a lot of purely human movements. Think Iron Man, in other words.
Above average, even slightly or moderately so, would be a fair bet. I don't see much to worry about. This isn't a very strong /m/ season, but it should be a nice change of pace from Okada Gundam IBO.
