I'm still sort of annoyed that it took until, like, Episode 9 for Nova's elephant mech to transform into Human mode. If it weren't for the opening, you might have been tricked into thinking that mode was purely for the combination in Nova until that point.

If I watched mecha expecting literary masterpieces, I would have left the genre behind long ago. Haven't even seen one so far that I'd consider as such unless Metal Gear Solid 3 counts.

The more important concern here is whether the action scenes look pretty and whether the characters are enjoyable.

I do think they did it one time too many though, specifically with pic related. That might be me being sad that the only time we'll ever see Final Dancouga's combination sequence is in a video game that is nigh impossible to play outside of Japan, and difficult to obtain even there. And it's in SD as far as I know.

Plus it actually did a lot of subtle nods to the original series, things like the Dankuuken not working that one time because they used too much energy before pulling it out (which never happened, unless it did in BE, but was something that could have happened due to how the Dankuuken is formed), or, hell, the time limit combination and the reason for that (yeah, it's partly because Gravion Drei, but it's also a BURN reference.)

Feel free to shit on Dancougar all goddamn day. If it takes throwing Dancougar under the bus to make Nova sound better, then I think that's saying something if you can't even bring up it's own merits other than "well, Dancougar sucks too!"

Dancougar Nova is just a level above Great Dangaioh as far as I'm concerned.
And, no, I don't mean that in a disappointing sequel way, I mean in a boring, trite, we're not going to do anything with these characters, and we're certainly not going to do anything with the plotandthenpretendwehaveaplotgoinginthelasttwoepisodes, and even that wasn't any goddamn good.

And it's not like it even had to be DEEP, or shit, even have much of a plot going, as long as it did something interesting. Some amusing episodes would have helped. But instead, make way for "hey! homless guy gets an episode! He's homeless...just because he wants to be! What a noble cause!" You guys remember that fun island romp that amounted to nothing, right? You know, the one with the kingdom that you don't remember the name of?

I mean, I'll use Dancougar Nova if it's in SRW, but this show wasn't good, even for popcorn entertainment.

I like how you ignore that the previous anons here have brought up things they liked about the show and instead insist that we can't come up with positive elements about it

I mean, the problem is that you absolutely hated it and assume that your judgment of the show is the only acceptable opinion of the show. Some of us liked the characters and some of us were amused by some of the episodes! I personally enjoyed Seimi shenanigans, Sakuya being such a gigantic nerd that he asks for a rocket punch installed on his mech just so he could scream all he want, everything about Aoi and Kurara, and Johnny's running gag about reading everything from magazines. Hell, Eida's inoffensive too. The plot isn't all that amazing but it was just window dressing for the main mech kicking all kinds of ass and it delivered so as far as I'm concerned at least it did its job.

We also don't deny that the show had problems, such as building up plots that don't really go nowhere, or subpar animation considering it's an Obari show or whatever, but hell, the people in this thread enjoyed it for what it was nonetheless. So maybe take the stick out of your ass and accept that some of us actually found the things you found reprehensible actually ok, all things considered?
