Next show is Makai Retsuden, which doesn't seem like it'll have a central protagonist, and after that is the new Zero show. The Raiga movie will likely start filming once those two are finished
>Watching Gold Storm movie making of
>Scene where Nakayama and Ishibashi make a cameo
>Nakayama touching Kuriyama's arm and asking him to stop gaining so much muscle
I laughed so hard. Also, Raiga movie never.
>Guren no Tsuki OP
I still dig it, especially with everyone together.
It's still baffling that the Garo that takes place in way back old school Japan has the spicy Spanish/Tex-Mex flavored soundtrack while the one that actually took place in kind of Spain only has little hints of it.
I kind of think cowboy Garo would be cool
At least all those big trenchcoats wouldn't look completely out of place, for once
Also there's bound to be all kinds of terrible bad mojo around the American west what with all the dead natives
YamiTera sometimes felt like somebody wanted to do cowboy Garo.
As long as they don't pull a "there's a Garo in every region/country" I'm okay with it.
I would like an American Knight that is revered as much as Garo is in Japan, without being another Garo.
Yeah, that was a little weird. It had a certain vibe to it what with the twangy country-rock first ED, the cow brand eyecatch, and the prevalence of an American-style steakhouse as a location.
Got my Makaikado Garo figure today...and then one of the capes joint broke off in it's hole while I was connecting them...
It kind of makes me want a gunner Knight. Some other places might cling to swords and bow and shit but this is America we're talking about. They would have ditched all that for shooty stuff as soon as they could.
>Blunt objects, like bullets and hammers
But Makai Alchemists use fancy-ass Makai guns all the time. What's to say there can't be soul metal bullets in a big old elaborate Amemiya gun?
He could even have a gun-twirling transformation.
>Soul Metal bullets
>they have to look for the bullets after every kill
Actually, what were Aguri's arrows made of? Would be kind of strange if they just let the Kusugami knights lose so much Soul Metal.
>they have to look for the bullets after every kill
>assistant priest has to put sigils on all twelve of his bullets s othat after he shoots a Horror, they reappear in the chamber
Masa and Amiri are together a lot I notice
Are they fucking?
He's also laughing at you outside your window.
It always kinda makes me laugh going back to the first season. I know he was only 17 but he is so baby faced compared to his later appearances
That shirt is also way shittier than the one he has in Beast and Makai Senki
This is probably my favourite suit for Garo in the entire franchise. Excluding Garo On as it's a different design
>Let me see you get serious
Go watch Faiz now, dude was probably 15 when he played the Dragon Orphenoch
Cry because nothing else is as good
I've seen it before, hated the show but Ray was great in it.
>tfw the only Garo thing you actually didn't like was Yamitera
Maybe I'm a blind fanboy or whatever but damn it feels good to follow this series
They should rope in Endoh to play a Makai Knight in Retsuden, I don't care which one
>the one used in Yamitera and MnH
Were those the same suit? The Yamitera one looked less shiny and didn't have the fishnet-looking undersuit.
>tfw you like Yamitera and think the anime was just ok.
It's a weird feel. The anime isn't bad at all, just for some reason it couldn't entirely hold my interest. I can't really say why.
Now when you say "all of Garo," do you mean just the first season or everything released so far?
Because if it's the former, get on that shit and watch Beast of the White Knight, Red Requiem, and Makai Senki. If it's the latter then, yeah, cry. Or spend ludicrous amounts of money starting a Makai Kado collection.
I remember the first time we saw the Knight's faces move in HnK. It was a little jarring, but damn if it doesn't look awesome when it happens.
I'm not sure how much my (relatively) positive opinion of Honoo no Kokuin is due to the disappointment from YamiTera and Hana.
Leon's arm guards for his original Garo were fucking huge
I watched through all of Garo in about a month before catching up on HnK and watching it as it came out. I loved it for it's great and memorable cast, interesting setting, kickass fights and god tier soundtrack. I think my only major issue with it is that the Alfonso-Garo episodes are really fucking boring, that's about it.
Alfonso's episodes gave is medieval robot Garo and allowed me to make this joke. That is good enough.
I really liked 17. it was just the three before it that annoyed because of how much every single character couldn't stop talking about how wonderful Alfonso is. Even the Robot Garo episode turned into that in the end
Leon's "teen angst" form is kind of weird all around. It has these bizarre cartoony proportions and is really small and lanky compared to normal Garo.
Also, more Alfonso using Garo means less Alfonso using Gaia.
We need more Gaia.
Seriously I think Amemiya is having headaches at night on how to continue the story with Nakayama. Not that Nakayama can't act, but he is the wrong pick for the character.
He is supposed to be the balanced type of MC between Kouga and Ryuga, yet he couldn't deliver the impact at all times. He knew when to copy Konishi's spirit when dealing with foes, but he was unable to go beyond that to make a statement in every battle. He is also physically unfit to do the stunts properly like Kuriyama when needed. Raiga supposed to be strongest, but he is more like half-assed at the end.
I also blame Amemiya for bringing in all the big names as guest of the week. They literally stole the show from Nakayama. People (in japan) remembers them in MnH more when mentioned.
I hope Amemiya could get things done quick before Nakayama gets too old. Nakayama also has a lot to work on, or I don't think he will look good in his movie when it happens.
The head, buckle and little chest jewel are pretty much the only parts that resemble what's on other versions of Garo.
Sorry for your loss. I hope you can ask for a replacement for it at least.
I got mine too recently and I nearly lost the hand when I took it out of the box. The thing's rather loose for some reason and I may have to thicken up the ball peg on the wrist.
For now I guess I'll try to just use sticky tack instead of gluing them to the wrist to make them like the SHF one where it's stationary.
Still a good figure, but fiddly as fuck in some parts.
Always good to see more Leon/Ema art
although Leon looks ripped as fuck in that art for some reason
So I'm rewatching HnK (I originally started with it and watched the live action stuff afterwards), and I've noticed that "Makai hoshi" was translated to "Makai alchemist". Is there supposed to be a difference or are my subs just shitty?
I think I've found my favourite piece of fan art
>Jabi and Kaoru docking
I didn't realize I needed this
Whenever I see that OP, I alwas think he looks mad as fuck.
I am somewhat impressed by this but the cheeful grin on the helmet is making me crack up
What are your favourite visuals in the OPs? I've always liked this bit from MnH's OP just because it's fun to see them going crazy with their attacks in time to the music
I could see that happen, but on the other hand Honoo no Kokuin's OST sold really well as a standard release. Though that does tip me towards using the set up the Toku series does to push more box sales.
This shot left quite an impression on me when I first started Garo nearly a decade ago, and I still think it's pretty creepy.
Funnily enough, Yamitera's and Goldstorm's have great OP aesthetics. The black armor/crystals thing and the literal gold storm in the latter are pretty damn good.
Also, shoutouts to the first one's silhouette sparring and the splatters.
No but they don't seem that hard to follow.
First one is Alfonso's delusion diary. Second one is Ema dragging Cherry Boy Leon on a date through town
I haven't actually finished listening to the second one
I really like the foreshadowing for the finale power up in the Goldstorm OP. Fuck, that finale was radical
After thinking it over for a bit I've decided I want to dedicate myself to becoming a good artist. If you guys could come up with ideas for art to work on for practice/fun that would be massively appreciated. Pic related is what I am currently at quality wise
I know it's shit bear with me
It's just kinda resting at okay for me to be honest. I don't think it's bad and it's had a couple pretty good episodes but it's done nothing to really distinguish itself. The action scenes being significantly worse than Honoo no Kokuin is the final hit that makes it incredibly hard to recomend
YamiTera is probably my favourite, if you're only going by visual quality.
Nothing beats Makai Senki OP2 though.
>that perfectly timed clip montage with Kouga doing Garo things
>that slow fucking walk towards the camera
>the OP in general
>get to the final Goldstorm episode
>"Well shit, why is this called Goldstorm anyway? How come there wasn't anything related to that name, at all?"
>found an encode of the GnT ED PV
>decides to translate it
>sees the encoder also hardsub the lyrics onto the video
Which leads to this: overlay or no overlay?
Remember what Kaoru and dad calls Garo?
Gold Wind or Wind of Gold. Storm is a powered up version of Wind, and that is Sho.
I can't stop listening to track 14 of the Goldstorm series OST.
That one is incredible. I really love 22, 23 and 32 as well
Does the Biku movie have a DVD release date?
This is gonna sound dumb and asking like I'm looking to be spoonfed, but here it is:
Does anyone have/care to upload MEGA links of O-T's subs of the original GARO series?
I have the Gomenrider subs for the original series but want to see what O-T have brought to the table
Behind a firewall and it doesn't like it when I torrent shit. Also tends to drive my anti-virus software up a wall, too, insisting that I scan everything after it's finished torrenting,
More trouble than I'm willing to put up with, really.
Probably ties into what Zinga said.
Then again it was weird how he stabs Zinga after turning back into Sho, even though that didn't work earlier. >>13705958
The gist of it was
>Mirror attacks all of Ryuga's weaknesses and low points to try and bring him down
>Ryuga accepts these as a part of him rather than falling
>Through this he is able to use the power of Garo Shou to absorb the darkness of the mirror into him, achieving a balance that dramatically heightens his power.
>Also BatCape Wings because fuck you it's cool
Leon is a little different I think. His whole deal was letting go of his anger and desires for revenge. Losing Lara and her family made him realize that his selfish feelings got in the way of his sworn duties as a Makai Knight. By casting off that anger, he cast of the one thing that was actually holding him back and making him weaker.
So what Knights have introduced themselves properly then?
Am I missing anyone?
There was this guy in the Zagi episode of Makai Senki.
So Crow's teacher in Makai No Hana..
Is he played by that loan shark in Yakuza 5 who helps out Shinada? I know they model the face of characters after the actors voicing them, and the similarities with appearance and voice is strike.
Looks like Konishi's recovered
so this guy, he tried to get a garo cosplay group going by paying for alllllll the costumes, and apparently the rest of the group bailed on him once the armor in your photo arrived.
lmk if you guys want more pics/deets
He definitely looks a lot better there than he did in the picture from the mook
So who else is gonna be getting this then?
Uuuuuuugh. I dunno. If it gets cheap later on, sure, but we all know how Garo merch usually ends up.
I feel like I missed an announcement where they were doing Makai Kados of all the remaining Knights bar Gaia and Dan. Did I make that up or is that happening?
I don't remember anything about Makai Kado Zanga, Giga, Zx and Zoro either.
In order, Taiga, Zero, Gai, Zen, Dan, Kouga, Crow, Baron, Raiga, Kiba, Giga, Sho (which apparently also covers Lost Shine), Bado, Giru, Leon, Zoro, Lord, and Raikou.
Missing from that list are Gaia, Alfonso Garo, Zex, Zanga, and Samurai Garo.
>focus more on band stuff
>focus more on stage shows
>starts new fan club
I guess not this year so keep waiting people
>Watching Garo with small children
I think Goldstorm is okay in that regard except for episode 12 or 13 which has a nude horror on screen in a couple scenes. The camera doesn't linger on her though
Yeah, this horror in episode 13. But pic related is pretty much the closest shot you get of her. She's mostly so bright and shiny you can barely see her nipples.
Really? I quite liked that one actually, the action scenes were pretty nice and the horror at the end of it looked fucking sick. My only problem with it really was the misunderstanding plot in the first half.
Can't hate on Acoustic Savior in the Dark and pre-Amiri Saori Hara at least.
As mentioned by that other dude just watch out for nude horror in that one episode and I guess you should be fine. Although even now I still don't think Garo's meant to be watched with kids. Could be a fun idea still.
That Hobby Japan book is pretty cheap on Ebay right now, around $25 USD.
Listening to the Honoo no Kokuin soundtrack again just makes me want MONACA to just be Garo's official soundtrack people from here on just like how JAM Project has always been the official OP group.
I love Monaca but I kinda like the niche they have of being the anime OST guys. The live action seasons have a fairly distinct feel to their soundtrack that I wouldn't want to lose
Yeah, I can see your point there. MONACA has this weird sort of Spanish/Western spice to it that is really neat, but I think would feel really out of place in live-action Garo's modern Tokyo setting.
>That Zero figure mostly always has the swords on the ground.
>Because the swords are made of diecast and too fucking heavy for it to hold upwards
Boy I can't wait for the new one.
The CG when he was jumping around had me cracking up.
Episode was pretty good, but fuck did they have an intern animate the CG in this episode?
At least the model's changing next ep. Hopefully we'll get HnK-tier animation, or at least short but decently animated scenes, like Zanga's.
They're probably saving budget for the new armor, the CG in itself was pretty bad but at least there's more action now.
On a somewhat related note Douman looks a lot like Barago with his scars and his love for darkness.
Ultimate Soul Dan is $40 on Amazon if anyone's interested.
>its like 3 or 4 inches tiny
No thanks. I'll make do with my Equip and Prop and wait until a new Makai Kadou comes out in like 30 years.
Speaking of, I just bought that Wicked Bone Knight Gill figure. 2 OR 3 MORE WEEKS AND I'LL HAVE EVERYTHING BESIDES BADO AND KIBA.
Seimei is clearly terrified of losing Raikou in the same she lost her parents, so she's using the seal as a way to keep him close to her. It's pretty clear that the whole seal plotline will probably be resolved next week considering the end of this weeks episode
Mmyeah. I guess I reacted too soon, I really did need to see the scene at the end.
She probably should've known that it was the best way to do so, but terrified people don't tend to think clearly.
