I watched through all of Garo in about a month before catching up on HnK and watching it as it came out. I loved it for it's great and memorable cast, interesting setting, kickass fights and god tier soundtrack. I think my only major issue with it is that the Alfonso-Garo episodes are really fucking boring, that's about it.

Seriously I think Amemiya is having headaches at night on how to continue the story with Nakayama. Not that Nakayama can't act, but he is the wrong pick for the character.
He is supposed to be the balanced type of MC between Kouga and Ryuga, yet he couldn't deliver the impact at all times. He knew when to copy Konishi's spirit when dealing with foes, but he was unable to go beyond that to make a statement in every battle. He is also physically unfit to do the stunts properly like Kuriyama when needed. Raiga supposed to be strongest, but he is more like half-assed at the end.
I also blame Amemiya for bringing in all the big names as guest of the week. They literally stole the show from Nakayama. People (in japan) remembers them in MnH more when mentioned.
I hope Amemiya could get things done quick before Nakayama gets too old. Nakayama also has a lot to work on, or I don't think he will look good in his movie when it happens.

Leon is a little different I think. His whole deal was letting go of his anger and desires for revenge. Losing Lara and her family made him realize that his selfish feelings got in the way of his sworn duties as a Makai Knight.
