>>13693910
>Spincamera works
It really doesn't
>>13693853
It's literally the filename.
>>13693873
Or he could use 4chanX which will display the metadata in browser. Incidentally it's not in the webm in question, he's still a stupid fuck.
>>13693918
Not him, but I say it does, but it needs to be further from the action. A lot of MJP is too close for my liking.
>>13693956
Spincamera can be a recipe for disaster, but I absolutely dig it in Akito where it's perfectly in-sync with the action on-screen, and there's a predictable fluidity to each movement more or less.
>>13694888
See, I'm of the opinion that (in most cases) the camera should be a placid observer, but if it needs to accentuate a scene it needs to be influenced by the action, rather than influence it.
In Akito, in particular, the camera moves too "soon", or rather to "exactly" and it almost telegraphs the way the shot is gonna play out, and it ruins the illusion of spontaneity--it feels too choreographed (which of course, it is), but I feel that, and I don't like it so much.
There's some examples where I do like it because the director is more in tune with what they're trying to pull off, but Akito's direction really falls flat for me. Heck, despite my issue with MJP's camera being too damn close, its way more reactive than it is proactive. In the first 5 seconds of the webm that spawned this chain, Blue 2 just pops in from the right and then the camera moves to accommodate it into the shot. My bet is that if we were watching Akito's director do the same scene, the camera would snap to catch Blue 2 perfectly as it's entering the frame which would ruin the dynamism of the fight. That said, at least we'd get a little more distance between the objects.
It's not that I dislike CG or Orange either. Take a look at this one from Fafner. As opposed to the metronomic "hits" in Akito, the camera feels more like it's being pulled along the action.
Yeah there's that snap zoom at about 2.5s, but if you look a little closer the Trooper winds up slowly for the hit before the zoom.
I feel like if Akito had explicit cuts in between each new angle, instead of trying to pull off these longer takes it would evoke the stylization they seem, to me, to be gunning for.
Of course, that's just me.

Instead of "dark" I should have said "tense". The 00 movie was one of the few moments where all of humanity was at stake, and it really felt like it was upping the ante. "Horrors of war" is it's own, different kind of thematic terror which we've all probably become desensitized to at this point given how many movies, shows, etc. are made about it. That, and there's something less terrifying when the enemies are human and not all-consuming alien hordes that will kill everyone by erupting spikes out of peoples' faces. It's a visceral kind of horror more than anything.

The reason the ELS actually felt like a terrifying enemy is because there wasn't any way to defeat them at all, that data book talked about how the Qant could but that was only if the pilot was some sort of robot, I actually like shit like this in fiction, finding some truly alien creature that is so superior to our own species that the only way to survive is making the agree with you because trying the usual humanity fuck yeah will only result in death
>>13697548
It's a take on the "gray goo" end-of-the-world scenario where self-replicating nanites consume and assimilate everything in an unstoppable swarm that resembles its namesake. I've always found that to be one of the more terrifying "we're fucked" sci-fi scenarios since it's so effective - you can't defend against nanites since they'll just assimilate any traditional weaponry and shit it back at you. It's also a force of nature that can't be reasoned with, so the protagonists have pretty much zero options for survival.
Also liked how the ELS were a legitimate alien entity and not some blue-skinned humanoid with antennae or just man-made nanomachines out of control.

Why do you care? No seriously, why do you care, this isn't harming anyone, /m/ isn't /b/ or /v/ or /a/. /m/ has always been a helpful place, there is a big difference between spoon feeding and handing out sources, to spoonfeed I would have given out the links or sources to find and download the anime, Giving the name of an anime doesn't harm anyone you twit. You shouldn't let this bother you at all, you should enjoy the fact that people are interested in your mecha shows and want to know more about them.
There are worse things on /m/ being posted daily that do more harm to the board, than me handing out names of mecha animes. Now calm yourself and enjoy this thread.

So, ARISE isn't really a prequel as there are several differences between it and S.A.C. and even '95.
Like in that scene in The New Movie, the Major isn't yet part of Section 09 officially, she is in '95 and S.A.C.
Her origin in S.A.C. is different too, plane crash and cyberization after that vs. full cyberization at birth. It's supposed to evoke those sequences, and with some gymnastics it can be a prequel to either story, but it really fits safely in it's own timeline.

>The new movie has that as the aftercredits, with the major looking older
That scene was aped from SSS, the end of 2nd GiG is slightly different and doesn't have the whole crew.

I posted it just because you hate it.

It isn't me this time.
You could afford to post a wider variety though.

I only have like 120 postable web/m/s out of the total 218 I have saved at the moment and I never feel like really sitting down and making more since reposting other people's work is easier.

Usso must be like "Wow it's a good thing that the people who tied up my giant robot have never seen it in battle".

The Black Knight Rebellion at the end of season 1. Cornelia meets Lelouch at the top of the government building (in the garden replica of Lelouch's old home) and she proceeds to wreck his shit even with her inferior knightmare. But she gets impaled from behind by one of her own mind-controlled subordinates.

Why is Nipponese CGI so shit anyway?
>>13720727
Imanishi really should direct CGI in Gundam games instead if he likes it so much.

I heard an explanation that the more talented specialists go to the (video-)games industry where they are better paid.

Actually on a technical level a lot of their cgi is amazing.
Especially when you look at vidya moneyshot fmvs.
Problem has been settling on what role it will play in anime, ranging from "just don't" to "emulate 2d" to "make it visually unique" to "make it all cgi."
Also there's just the ingrained stigma towards the tech, which has been a thing since Gonzo's heyday.
And then there's the trainwreck that is cgi effects in tokusatsu but then again tv budget cgi always looks bad, even western shit routinely looks off in the texture department.

Yeah it's that uncanny valley thing. CGI looks really good in Unicorn and 00 where they use it for ships and other non-organic effects. The problem arises is when you see humanoid or insect-like mechs having the whole uncanny valley affect, it just doesn't look right since it's based off an organic design.
>>13721506
Unicorn uses CG on the mecha frequently enough actually.
00 did in the movie.

In that movie it was for the whole human race. Certainly a bit more bleak.
love these threads

>Actually on a technical level a lot of their cgi is amazing.
But it looks worse than 2D of the same budget
