ayy /m/ anyone wanna play? i'll host a room
just like the good ol' days
Strike and particularly all the other SEED RDs that followed it isn't that old. I know the Hyaku Shiki that came out just before it is actually 1/144 scale while Freedom is definitely significantly bigger. It's not a big deal though.
>finally buy EXVS
I just wanted to play video games
>Bought it last year
>Spaced out got it used
>No online pass
I need to buy that shit finally, playing offline off and on is fun but time for me to shit nup online. I'd be too embarrassed to play with /m/ though. I'd just shit up random games more off than not.
when's loran going to get his militia outfit as an alternate outfit?
what is that, $40? The game came out 2 days ago
>isn't it a bad idea for me to be trying to front
With that attitude, you will be a deadweight in no time!
I'm saying that you shouldn't constantly back, a lot of players on /m/ don't know how to agress properly due to being way to comfortable playing a back suit, and not reading the wiki.
In any case, the gitting gud aspect killed a lot of the casual players who only looked to have fun, due to the salty tryhards.
Unfortunately, much of the EXVS community get hilariously mad extremely fast if they have a new person as a partner, (certain /m/ players as well but not as much) so even if you don't mind getting wrecked, pub players will. If /m/ lobbies were still up, it might be easier to ease you into things, but you'll most likely have to practice by yourself/receive pointless hatemail if you choose to play in shuffles. You could always try that one discord chat for advice, but I dunno.
Yeah but I don't want to be the guy who fucks the team over for it, unless you guys have a high tollerance for noobs. I mean playing offline for a year or so only does so much I'd imagine.
I dunno odds are I'll take the plunge and get the online pass when I get some DLC for christmas and play with ya guys.
Especially since Force seems to be shit already anyways. Might as well.
I played through the entire roster (give or take a few) then I just decided from there. If you wanna try a mech, just mess around with it in free mode to learn it's basics, then take it online. It's not like you're restricted from using other suits, so if you ever wanna play something else, go for it.
Makes sense, and for the DLC, I noticed there was a big pack for all of the mechs, and a bunch of smaller ones. I only have 3,000 yen, should I get more or can you get most of the unique suits with that much?
If you like it, go ahead. Freedom and Kshatriya also a bit basic.
Strike, Exia, Gaia, Cherudim, and Arios all have odd nuances, so it's understandable why you would have trouble using them.
I liked the Kshatriya, but I felt like my funnels weren't doing anything and it was impossible to land my AC on anyone. There are some other suits I like but the more expensive ones seem to be the most complicated,
These are the best suits in their cost for newcomers to learn.
3000: Double X
1000: Do not seriously attempt these suits until you've mastered the fundamentals.
One more thing. is this the complete set of DLCs or do i need to purchase them all separately?
It's not like we still didn't try to get lobbies going. Hell we even had a few last thread, though they were pretty underpopulated.
I firmly believe that /exvs/ will rise again someday.
/m/ lobbies are late night in america.
EU players cant really play with them so we usually just join the regular western lobbies that show up, not too dead but definitely not like how it was on release, the lack of a new console port hurts.
>Want to play now but PSN is down due to hacker kids just like the year before.
faggot with a shitty name and shitty abilities ready to go
I still don't remember any of this which is weird.
essentially when I got horrifically slammed in the exvs general that existed I cobbled together some other text from posts in that thread and made an image detailing how accurately I got my anus pushed in
>japs come into EU or US rooms everytime and the host never fucking kicks them
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE KICK ALL JAPS, RED BAR IS FUCKING AWFUL, I WAKEUP AND GET DOWNED INSTANTLY BECAUSE IT WONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE SHIT FAST ENOUGH.
it's fucking christmas no one has anything to do
I'm building gunpla if that counts.
>mfw panel lining and get paint on fingers, then smear it on Wing Zero's face
>considering whether to masturbate or play with /m/
so i've never stopped in lobbies or anything but i've done the arcade on stream a couple times before. I planned on streaming sometime tonight and only playing as bernie, would you guys want a lobby?
I've returned, I am finally done with classes as of wednesday. Let us revive the weekly scheduled lobbies and rekindle the Age of EXVS.
Who remains here. I saw a few names of old up in the thread.
It'll come to you. I usually block and just stand there like an idiot because I blocked something for once. back dashing after a block is a decent defensive tactic I've found.
Freedom is simple and so good for newbies but in general it's just not really a good suit at all in FB. It has main ammo issues which the csa doesn't really alleviate because it's basically worthless as far as tracking/startup go and doesn't even have the decency to fastfall you like Zeydra's does. All its tools vernier unless you use the barrel roll, and you'll want to because it increases damage, which adds more ammo stipulations on top. It has overall fairly poor self defence with a crutch 6b which isn't a good thing, exacerbated by a shitty health pool for what its cost and role are which just make the problem worse. Of course learning to play around all these flaws will make you a way better player since it gives you ammo management, spacing, boost management because its movement options are all linear, emphasizes landing punishment and positioning and that's why it's recommended but the suit itself is really just training wheels and even then I'd still say play Injustice instead.
Rejoice, freedom is overall buffed in MB
It's one of the favorites for silver plates in 1v1 where ammo management is even less of an issue (everyone's favorite is still Legilis of course)
>500 matches and I'm still trash
Should I just end it all lads.
I don't even feel bad getting beaten; I love the genre so much I find even the most brutal stomps fun, but I just feel really bad for my partner.
>Did you expect to be instantly good or something?
Not at all.
It's just I expected to be a little better at actually hitting people and defending myself.
Still can't deal with movement vectors at all.
I purchased EXVSFB a month a go or so, I have been enjoying local co-op with my friend and a japanese guy on exchange. But I want to move onto online mode soon.
My friend doesn't watch gundam but RX-78 is his favourite machine to pick everytime because he loves the javelin. The japanese guy tends to either pick deathscythe, gundam, red frame or a seed suit.
Both are pretty competent at arcade when co-oping, if that means anything. But I think I need to learn some combos if I want to start playing online and be at least a bit competent. How much effort does it take to learn how to combo in this game? Is it similar to 2D fighting games with quarter circle inputs?
I am mainly competent (about as competent without any real combo knowledge) with Gyan, Sazabi, Nu Gundam, Gundam, Red Frame and Tallgeese III.
There is more to it than just combos, arcade usually can't compare to fighting real players. Chances are you will lose a ton of matches but you really shouldn't let that bother you as that is how everyone starts. Comboing in this game is rather simple and involve pressing a direction and melee so an example would be 8bbbb. You can sidestep mid combo to keep it going until you knock them down.
Hey noon questions, about to get the dlc, and I have two questions, is that one thing worth 5400 yen and pictures of a shit load of MS on it a bundle with most/all of the suits?
Also where and which one is the online pass?
Hopefully my experience fighting others in free battle counts, I rarely if ever lose to my friends. But thats nothing in the face of another player who knows their shit. I actually won't have time to play until february actually, as I'll be in japan for a month. I may give maxi boost a go actually.
DLC guy from earlier, first time using play Asia for psn cards usually use Japan codes, and I'm confused, it took me to a page and it has Serial number/license information thing and it looks like PSN codes but I'm putting them in and its saying they're invalid/used or some shit, did I get gypt or am I stupid and they aren't here yet and they'll come via email?
Well I got the 5000 yeah one to work my 1000 won't, I'm putting them into the site and adding them into my wallent via the Sony network site.
The play Asia screen where my codes are the 5k looks obviously like a screen from a card the other looks like some receipt print off, if that makes sense.
Well the top also isn't high lighted green maybe it isn't ready yet? I'll email them find it off I got one and it doesn't work while the other is fine and dandy, thanks for the help anon.
>the 1k should look like the 5k
Different anon here who literally made this exact same purchase like two days ago, the 5k is clearly from some kind of card, while the 1k seems to be from a receipt of some sorts.
However, in my case I was able to get both working not sure what's up on the other anon's end.
Maybe try entering it on the Japanese PS Store?
Just scroll down the list until you see the number 12 on the right; it should be second from the bottom or something.
I have the asian version of force preordered and Im getting vs full boost on wednesday. Does anyone still play vs full boost online? Is force bad or do people just hate it cause its on the vita?
2. Force is bad for a number of reasons; it is a shift in genre, it has a watered down roster, and it has little modes outside of the main mission mode (you can only access the other modes through 1v1 adhoc play)
1.Oh ok thats good hopefully by the time I become decent I can get some online matches.
2.How is force a shift in genre? It seems pretty similar to full boost. https://youtu.be/9oDitTXd0hQ
At least from this gameplay it seems similar. If the rosters watered down then I agree that sucks The video I posted said it has 2 v 2 modes and the force command thing seems kinda cool.
>5 million views
>Force has less than quarter of Full Boosts roster
>Camera controls are ass
>Movesets for units have been reduced dramatically (ReGz can only be played in its fucking MS form seriously)
>THERE ARE NO MODES, seriously theres only force mode and online multiplayer which is adhoc only and good luck finding someone locally to play with and with a shitty bot partner.
>THERE ARE NO MODES, I have to mention this again because how terrible it is, I am serious, there is not even a free battle mode, nothing, if you want to try out a unit or just have fun you have to replay a fucking Force mission.
Free battle mode would have made this game passable but it doesn't have even that.
I wonder how fucking hard it was for them to just make a port of full boost with worse graphics, they clearly can have the gameplay in and the movesets as it plays the same, is it really space limitations or something?
Maxi Boost port with a Force minigame would have been neat too.
>worse than next plus in every way except graphics
>mfw they localize this shit instead of literally anything else
I fucking see this shit everywhere, friends will link me images with discord in the name and from looking online its something akin to xfire? Why does shit like this still exist in this day and age when there's shit like skype and steam and how did it get popular.
Because Steam is broke and Skype is shit. Discord supports multiple servers for free, allowing for a plethora of differing groups and great discussions regarding various things, all at the same time. I'm sure Steam works, but all the bullshit necessary to actually add friends is retarded. On discord, you can ignore all the fucks you hate and still discuss shit with them. It's great. So, does anyone have the link?
just ignore it really. From time to time there will be salty assholes who will bitch at you for being cheap or picking cheap suits even though you are using a mediocre suit while they use top tier stuff like Norn. It has happened believe me.
I want to git gud at acguy just for this, teach me your secrets
Hello, someone brought this thread to my attention and afaik, I have the primary EXVS server for NA. All are welcome provided you do not go out of the way to be offensive. Below is a link annotated for public posting. It will only work for the next 30 minutes.
Fair enough. The offer is always open because I can always make more invites and word gets around. We're 50 or so right now and I don't feel like posting a permanent invite for some bot to hop in on easily.
BLOCK. Down+Up. the sign of a bad Vs player is the brazen LACK of blocking. ever. if you see a fast Gerobi, don't dash. block.
also, don't Zunda Pressure just because you're not in melee range. bait them into waisting THEIR shots so you can approach.
I wish I could say so. When I was making it, I though of it as a direct reference to the model number for Code Geass' Lancelot, Z-01. It also plays off the name for the villain, Z, in Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-Ohki OVA 3.
So if Mack Knife is becoming playable in force/mbon I wonder what Klim unit will be playable? Montero or Jahannam? I don't think Dehack will be his first playable unit.
Finally got my code situation sorted out, it was a duplicate.
Also miscalculated gonna need to buy another for the online pass but enjoying the new ms so fast. Strike rouge, Penelope and Nobel especially.
imo montero would be the funner unit to add compared to the Jahannam. with montero's javelins and those heat rod things that come out of it. plus maybe it'll have a terminator-exia thing going on where it doesn't have a head or fingers running around shouting "I'm a genius!"
>those SEA/JP players that join NA/EU rooms and almost exclusively play some faggoty rushdown melee suit
>anyone with a red bar joining an NA/EU room
JUST FUCKING PUT A PING LIMIT LIKE THE JAPS DO
>Oh neat a western room is up ill join it
>its full of japs with red bars and host probably doesn't know how to kick them or is afk
>30% win rate
>enjoy every match no matter how hard I'm stomped
>tfw only thing i don't enjoy is letting down my partner
how do these people catch me every time i land
how do i get somebody spamming boost dashes in my face away from me
even blocking the latter its like they have an entire half gauge
how is it that their attacks seem to have perfect vertical guidance wheras mine give up about halfway to the target
i just wanna be useful
always do your best to conserve your boost because the less you have the slower you react on landing. blocking is great but you must always consider the situation and everyones relative position otherwise they might end up catching you anyway.
blocking melee won't stop your opponents attempts at advancing since even if they run out of boost they can still try to go in for last ditch melee. I haven't completely got down melee evasion myself but I usually fuwastep, or whatever it is called, away from them while shooting since I can face them and move away at the same time. Someone boost spamming in your face isn't too hard to avoid except certain suits that are really good at it, most of the difficulty can come from dealing with the hop approaches.
some of this is suit specific since some suits have garbage tracking while others have incredible tracking but for the most part you want to have your shoot fired at a good angle, when you jump with you can turn your suits body to give yourself a better angle.
Gotta boost less mane, stay closer to the ground, the longer and higher you are in the air, the longer you don't have a full bar of boost. And that means the enemy can push you; pressuring you, forcing you to use your boost to avoid any oncoming damage, and that leads to you falling into the vectors, and ultimately, eating a beam or whatever they have in store for you.
Staying close to the ground and not over boosting, 2 boosts can get you in good positioning, but that's if you boost meaningfully. In other words, pushing to keep position with your partner, boosting to fall back, boost to push forward and create offense....There are a lot of cases where just boosting in the right direction at the right time does you and your partner good.
Double lock with your partner. Any front suit that focuses on playing out the neutral will greatly appreciate you more if you help them down their targets, as that means they can in a way, focus on each targets in a much more simplistic manner, since they are going down faster with your extra support.
I also find that playing more aggressively if my partner bursts to help, might as well get in there while they are more powerful and help out too.
Someone is in your face? you can boost away, use tools that have good muzzle correction, or fast start up, or high priority, things of that nature to get them off of you. Like say your playing RX78, and you got like FAUnicorn barrel rolling your ass down, your backshot into bazooka and (It's a stretch but I've done it) catch the unicorn with an early 6B or a dash attack or even a 5B, since they have either good range and priority(6B and dash attach respectively), or deceptively high start up(5B) and you even have a counter, albeit a more finicky.
It takes time man, while I haven't touched it in awhile(since lamodedgamu) I can guarantee you that I'd get swept hard, and I had like more than a couple thousand matches under my belt, and I was still ass. Grind it out homie.
> Shining gundam in MB is basically one chance gundam
I wish he were better than he ended up. I like how awesome super mode is but he is not that good outside of it...
>staying close to the ground
Thanks a bunch.
I was under the assumption that you had to boost jump more often than not.
I was actually in a shuffle lobby when I wrote that, and I noticed I was getting hit a little less (although there were still PLENTY more losses than wins).
I still need to learn how to keep an eye on the partner lock and danger indicators. But this seemed to help a little as well.
Yeah boost jumping is still the best way to cover larger distances in a short amount of time and it gives you a good angle of fire over grounded opposition. I think like two boost dashes use as about as much boost as a boost jump does.
If anything, I sometimes think of boost dashes as small step ins or dashes and jump ins as huge jump ins like in say street fighter, they are something you have to commit to, and using it in a situation where the enemy can counter attack usually gets you hit, but otherwise it's a powerful option for start offense, self defense even if you think of jump back air to airs, and so on. Trust me, I still have issues with the lock on indicators, they just sort of fade into the screen. I kinda just feel out when Im targeted, if Im engaging someone, or doing a melee combo, Im being locked on. If My partner is being melee'd or somethin, I'm being locked on. I always feel locked on. But sometimes I think people lock on to you so that they just see your positioning and maybe to scare you.
As you play more matches you'll get a sense of when you are in someone's sights.
>people caring about other people in games
>people caring about shuffle
>people caring about player matches
>people caring about video games in general
It's just a fucking video game, why do these niggas care about how good or bad you or even about losing.
There's more important shit to get mad about.
Nah I see 930 there once in a while. There're several TF people who are cool, patient, skilled dudes unlike him so it won't matter when he and his partner get smoked because he's clown shoes. Getting irritated is one thing, I'll succumb to that and just not even give customary end-game thanks because I'm flawed like that. But 930 will explode on you and send multiple pieces of hatemail like >>13725281 showed. He's got three or four different accounts, I assume to confuse some people into thinking it's not him because he's always acted so obnoxious.
>tfw too spaghetti for anything but public player shuffle
I got a "wtf" message from him when I kept dying first as the 2k in a 2/3k setup.
Distinguishing between front/back is hard yo. Best back I think I've seen was some guy playing Char's Gelgoog.
Epyon has an instance in which he can block projectiles with his whip just so you know. I've heard that you should be applying pressure with epyons presence since he can do so much damage it should scare them and force focus on you to get your partner to get hits in. Epyon can't do long range so working with your teammate can help you alot. You have to be patient with epyon especially since having no ranged weapons makes it feel like you aren't doing anything.
Thanks id probably have to work on the timing of whipping projectiles, is the block hitbox the area of the whip (ex 4/6ab blocks that direction of projectiles, using 8ab to block incoming forward ones). I found mostly that shuffle partners arent too reliable at keeping up with backup fire, but its the nature of shuffle
not really sure if it matters which input you use but you could practice it in free battle as long as you have another remote I guess. I don't really know too much on epyon especially since he is kind of the black sheep of the game.
>go to arcade in kyoto
>get my ass kicked by a 00 Raiser and Providence (Looked similar but had red backpack)
>keep playing to try and get used to arcade controls
>get mocked to hell and back as they stand there and block as I frantically chase after them
I stg I would have owned them if I was using a PS3 controller.
Haha no I couldn't who am I kidding, anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the updated graphics and new rosters, port when pls.
