been looking at the new RPG maker MV that just came out.
Its interesting, but I doubt we could utilize it for this game very well. The artstyle and spritework is just too radically different to work with what we got so far

Nah, no way I'm changing the programs mid-development. VX Ace is good enough and it would be too much work for too little payoff.
As I've said before: If I ever vanish for more than a whole week, I died, got into a coma, was kidnapped or something else. I'll never stay away from the internet for a whole week without a good reason, beyond my power. And if I'm in the internet, going to this thread is the first thing I'll do.
I won't abandon this project. I may give it up, or cancel it if you/someone else doesn't feel like continuing it, but I won't simply vanish.
Only watched the first two episodes so far, but I hated it. Extremely weak start to the series IMO.
But I've downloaded 3 and 4 and will try to force myself to watch it. I also still have Drive to finish.
I won't give estimatives, really, because any I give will be a false promise.
There isn't much left, the majority is done already I think. But I haven't found neither time nor inspiration to work lately.

We do have development - Episode 4 is ready, by WizardPrince. But I need to get out of my ass and finish Episode 3 first, and this is proving to be a problem.

But seriously, I've been feeling bad about this. I'm letting people down, yet I don't find the motivation to work on this anymore. But I don't want to quit yet, either.

While I'm posting, how feasible would it be to make a notebook type item, so that players could just check that if they haven't played in a while and forgotten where they were?
Maaaaybe I could do some Codec shit with Kengo, but it seems a bit too late to implement that.
But honestly, almost anything in this game can be solved with "Wander around and explore everything"

Oh well. Good news, my interest in Toku is returning, which in turn makes me more inclined to get out of my ass and work on the game. However I'm approaching finals, so I don't really have the time to work right now. But soon, hopefully.
The core idea for Fourze's episode is "A friend of Gentaro was kidnapped and is being held hostage to prevent him from becoming Fourze again. You must rescue the friend".
The joke is that said friend is a random student from Gentaro's class who barely remembers him, but you know how Gentaro is.
It's going to be a very lighthearted episode.
But we could do a "befriend X people" sidequest for the Fourze Card for example, or just as a regular sidequest.
And talking about ideas, I need some. Accel's sidequest is "Accel dopant is on the lose, Terui wants to fight him to get his memory back and become KR Accel once again".
I don't know what to do to develop this story though. Anyone have any idea on how to connect "Accel is on the loose" to "Fighting Accel"? I'm having a "go to spot x to find a new clue and continue the chase", but I feel it's weak.

With a little upgrade or twist for each form.
A little bonus that can be found on hidden sidequests or hidden in the scenarios.
Collecting a certain number of them (I'm still deciding if I'll require all of them or a lessen number) will unlock a secret epilogue

Man, the card on Episode 1 is extremely easy to get. What kind of RPG player don't talk with every NPC he finds?
The second one is a bit more hidden. When the background music changes, look in the park to the north of the city for someone who wasn't there.
Hey LegacyGuy, the combo input script in battles got me wanting to test it on another game I'm working on and I was wondering. How did you manage to get the attack skill to overwrite the default attack skill in battle?
Man, that was like an year ago.
But what I think I did is this: There is a script called "CANUSE" in the script manager. That script enables the normal Attack comand only for the party members you specify.
So I only let the human characters have the default Attack command. The others are actually using a 0 TP, 0 SP skill called "Attack".
You need to make a character's Attack skill the first skill he has on his skill list, so it will appear first in the list.
I don't feel like finishing Kuuga right now, so ultimate and rising forms will be on hold for a while.
Our pastebin in the OP has ideas for stories for episodes, but most aren't really set in stone yet.
Just give any ideas you've got for a rider episode and we'll put it into consideration
I guess we need a stronger premisse for Hibiki right now.
We have a base we need to keep: A new Rider will debut on this episde (Current, an upbeat, optimistic, "carpe diem" kind of guy who is just an human with a suit, no super-powers, but still manages to keep up with the monsters, like Taki-Rider). We still don't have a story besides this, however.
My idea was "Current wants to train with Hibiki and Hibiki refuses. Legacy arrives in the city, some trouble happens, Hibiki still shoves Current off, Hibiki and Legacy team up, they still fail to contain the problem, Current reveals himself and solves the situation (Probably using the Eletrical powers of his suit. Mayba a water-based monster?)
As you see, we have an skeleton, but it's extremely poor. And I've never watched hibiki. So if you want to enrich it, be my guest, or even make a diferent premise. It just needs to have some focus on Current.
We still don't have any ideas set in stone for Agito, Faix, Kiva, Skyrider, X, Super-1, V3 + Riderman, J + ZO, Gaim (I haven't finished the Gaim x Drive movie yet), and some others. I haven't watched any of these yet, so if you put forth any ideas, explain everything as if you' wee speaking to a toddler.
Hibiki should refuse since he already has a student, and the Makamou only appear in rural areas, so there's no city to arrive in.
What time of year does this occur? If it's summer, there are more Makamou, so Hibiki could be dismissive of Current because he has his hands full.
As for water-based monsters, there are a few to choose from. Would be cool to see the octopus Makamou from the novel.
Yeah, the idea is that Hibiki would dismiss Current the whole episode. And in the ending we could do some "I have nothing to teach you, you are already a hero and must travel your own path" after Current saves the day.
Hell, this could be the reason Hibiki refuses him. Maybe he sees the guy is already decent and should do his own stuff, but he only says this outright in the end. Maybe Hibiki wanted him to see this with his own eyes.
This is also a cool idea though.

This is a possibility, but I don't know. The idea always was to have some sort of "general" for the people who want to contribute to the game.
And it's not like /m/ is a hyper-active board full of threads that we are taking the spot of.

That's the idea. You beat the Dopant three (Or maybe two. I've made it three but now that I'll add Trial I might change to two battles against Accel normal and one against trial) and recover the Accel memory. When everyone thinks it's over, he re-appears and transforms into Trial, and Legacy fights alongside Accel (Because, the way the sidequest was originally, you would only use Terui, not Accel)
I know that Bro should have one, I touched it up when he posted it...
and he's probably already gone until january...

I feel like I've been fooling you guys lately, so I've been planning to say this when the year turned.
I'll be pretty honest, I don't really feel like working on the game anymore. It may be a phase, it may not, but I doubt it. I simply would rather do other things with my free time, which is become more and more precious moving foward. The game has become a much lesser priority to me, to the point development has been halted.
First, there is a decision that it's not mine to make. WizardPrince has shown some real dedication to the project. He is the only person fit to take this foward, in my opinion, if he wants to.
IF WizardPrince wants to take the project into his hands, we have the following options:
- I try to finish Episode 3 and hand everything to him. He keeps going from this point on. I can't, however, promise that I'll finish it in any specific timeframe, as it depends heavily on motivation.
- If he wishes for something more certain, he can decide that he'd rather finish Episode 3 himself. I'd hand him over what I have so far, and he keeps development going on from this point foward.
Is both cases I'd be handing Prince total creative control over the project. He decides if he wants to keep this thread in 4chan, move to a development blog, move to a forum, or just retreat to develop the game alone.
In both cases I'm also going to stick around as "creative advisor" so to speak - mostly, idea guy. And, if my motivation returns, I can try to become the "secondary developer" of the team - as in, me and Wizard would switch roles. But I don't want to make promises on that.
IF Wizard doesn't want to take the project, I see two options: (continued next post)
- We can try to keep going for a little longer as it is - me developing episodes together with Wizard, and see if my inspiration returns. Meanwhile we keep this thread alive. Or maybe things organically grow into a situation where Prince is effectively the lead developer, and I'm the guy stringing the episodes together and uploading the game, doing the marketing, etc, I dunno. Like, keep going and see what happens, but with you guys knowing better how I feel and that I may very well not deliver. But also, who knows, things could change - more developers could appear, or my inspiration going back.
- Two, we put the project into "technical cancellation". I'd release on the rest of the internet - RPG maker forums and other Toku communities, mostly - the game and it's assets, so other people can make more Kamen Rider games and such, which I think it's one of the most positive aspects of this project. Then, I'd put the game in a "eh, when I feel like it I'll work on it", without the pressure of people actually expecting me to deliver. Maybe I'll release more episodes in the future, maybe not. Of course, in this scenario Wizard is also welcome to keep developing episodes and sending me then if he feels like it, but I think I'd kill the 4chan thread if this was the case - maybe we can exchange e-mails, or use an RPG Maker forum for coordination and discussion, but in general it would become a more personal, less community-driven project.
So... Yeah. Just wanted to discuss this with you guys, because I don't want to disappoint anyone any further. It's a huge mix of not really caring that much for Toku anymore, not having time to watch or work on the game, and just... I dunno, being tired in general.
I'd like to hear what you guys think - and, specially, what Wizard has to say.
And Wizard, please, don't feel pressured to accept. Unless you're 100% sure to go on w/ this thing,I think one of the two outcomes of this post might be more desirable. Your call.
This is quite an honor you're bestowing upon me. I've tried to make my Shin episode to the best of my abilities, and offered my ideas to this project.
It's sad to see your motivation for this project to wane so much after all these months, but you should do what is necessary for your life. I'll be glad to take over as the lead developer until you decide you can take over again. In the meantime, if you can you'd might as well continue with what you have left of the W episode and I'll do my best to continue on where you left off.

As I said, this is more a "listen guys, don't expect anything else from me", taking pressure off, than me seriously leaving the project.
I grabbed this like 2 weeks ago or so and enjoyed playing a bit. I like the idea of the project itself quite a bit since we never get Kamen Rider games localized.
I don't know shit about RPG Maker and learning seems like a real headache but I'd like to help in any way I could that maybe doesn't include that.
Will the Accel Dopant have different powers for each form?

It'll be just regular (Red) and Trial, no Booster.
I like the idea of him attacking multiple times in the Trial form. I might implement this.
Red fights 1 and 2 would probably be similar. Maybe he can gain some new moves between each other, but I think I have a better idea: The same fight, but you don't recover HP between them, so the damage of one carries into the other. This could make it interesting.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but eventually the Foundaiton managed to make Artificial Dopants that didn't depend on a memory user, right?
I remember something like that in the Megamax movie. Or am I confusing things?
Because I'm thinking on making the Accel dopant just a monster, not a monster with a user.

Also, managed to put some work on the game. Nothing major, but the sidequest is finished. Time to start making the characters, battles and populating Fuuto with some NPCs to make it more lively.

As I was trying to finish that Caucasus sprite, I've began to wonder how exactly I should implement the movie beetle riders. considering the movie is mostly AU I was thinking on making them sort of be prototypes for better Zector enforcers for the city maybe?
It's your call, really.
I'd use them as a side-quest, if you feel like they must be used.
But if you want to implement them on the main quest yeah, the prototype idea sounds like the best idea.
Use them like they were in the movies.
Different factions of ZECT soldiers vying for supremacy.
This time they all agree Foundation X has to be stopped, but each movie rider think he's the one who should lead.
Only thing they respect is strength of arms, so Legacy has to pimp slap these mofos who's in charge.
This is actually an interesting idea.
I think however the plot Prince made for the episode was different, that the Foundation got a hold of the Zecters and was using them as enforcers in the city (Which, btw, was Tokyo right? If yes, you can make it Central Tokyo or something like that, Prince, so it happens in a different region from Wizard's Southern Tokyo)
I want ideas for W and Accel's moves and attacks.
Right now I'm going for W being an all-around fighter which can assume different forms that allow him to adapt to many situations. Like, HeatMetal makes him stronger but slower, LunaTrigger the opposite, while CycloneJoker is the base all-around form. Still debating if I put all combinations or stick to those main three. Anyone have good ideas for the other forms?
Accel meanwhile is a bulky and fast fighter but with little special attack power - he relies mainly on basic attacks.
You could have FangJoker be like a berserker form, giving Phillip high strength but be unable to control him.
As for Xtreme, I'd say maybe a high special based form, maybe not that good in physical, but uses a lot of different special attacks.
Forgt about FangJoker and Xtreme, lol.
FangJoker will probably be a strenght boost and XTreme a general boost to all starts.
What I meant with other forms is like, you think I should do Luna/Joker, Cyclone/Metal, Heat/Joker, these sub-forms, or just stick to the main three + the upgrades?
Yeah, that's my fear, and why I feel like doing that.
Unfortunately I fear many Riders will end similar to W too, in a "Base form is all-around, each form specializes in something" kind of gameplay. OOO for example.
But oh well, when you have 30 Riders you can't make them all original.
