Dumping Battletech to piss off the weeboos
Its very nice and I wish the Land-Air Mech art was more like that in the official releases. Unfortunately I can't find that fanmade TRO to pull more images
and I'm done for a while. I will return when my people need me most.
David "Mechazone" White sure one of the few genuinely good mecha designers working on Battletech/Mechwarrior stuff.
David White is my favorite Battletech artist, followed by Matt Plog, though that seems to be an unpopular opinion for some reason.
Even Chaffee is pretty great if you don't llet him design the mech.
Damn you guys sure stopped the thread in its tracks
anyways ill post what I got
Art that was a WIP from Shim - ill post the finished next
I forget who did this - but who I work for did an art contest and this won. ShadowHawk.
aw yeah Battletech up in the /m/. Have some Shimmy.
It's cool, I don't know where to search (is there even a mecha booru?) and google doesn't yield a lot of results.
Found this though.
Man all it takes it some stylin artwork to make me really like Battletech-style mecha. It's a shame that it's always wasted on crappy games.
Best Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars faction reporting in.
Fuck forgot to select picture.
You even selected best Titan
Remember when FO3 was new and everyone thought this was awesome as hell?
>implying the devs have any weight on what gets posted on here
If its not /m/ the mods would delete it, right?
You do trust /m/'s mods don't you, anon? This isn't like other certain boards you know?
You guys did protect Liberty Prime, right?
It DOES have a COD level story, though.
>There are these corporate guys and these scrappy rebels, and they're fighting
>Black guy and Irish guy are old friends on opposite sides of the conflict
>Irish guy blows himself up and convinces black guy to join the scrappy rebels
>THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES
Was honestly hoping for a slight bit of complexity but Respawn literally had files related to the IMC named 'bad guys'.
Did anyone actually like the Mantis?
Wish it'd been bulkier.
What was with devs putting in a token mech in each game for a while
how could anyone for get the Iron Giant
The fact that the little you can do to help his rebuilding is actually a repeatable fetch quest with no in-game closure at all is sadder than most depressing mecha anime endings.
While created by a Japanese, the design, inspiration, function, form, and all else are clearly and thoroughly "western."
Ray, however, like MGS2, is when the weaboo-ness was shifted into maximum overdrive.
I dunno if I would call the dread power armor, since the guy inside is essentially a torso and head, he can't get out of it in any reasonably normal fashion, he essentially IS the machine. Dread's are more like... cyborgs? lol I dunno maybe I'm reading into it to much, it happens when I'm smoking. They are cool regardless, especially Venerable Dreads due to all dat bling.
They also have some of my favorite voice quotes from the video games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZLlBZry8bs
one thing I don't understand is why do some of them have fists.
some designs have a gun for a hand, some doesn't even have a hand, and then there's mechwarrior designs that have arms that do nothing other than pointing forward.
> then there's mechwarrior designs that have arms that do nothing other than pointing forward
Those arms are supposed to move.
The Mechwarrior franchise is usually pretty great gameplay wise, but as an adaptation it lacking in places.
In the fluff there is plenty of instances of mechs throwing punches or using melee weapons. I dunno why it's never been in any of the games, sure it's more rare than them shooting, but still... I know I'd like to hit some bitches with my giant axe.
I'm legitimately disappointed in you /m/.
It's still in the game, but the way it works means that it's an ambush gun against anything other than grunts. You are FUCKED if your prey is a player and sees you, because they will kill you before you can get enough locks to kill 'em.
To piss off the weebos with... what? Shoddy illustrations? Lax production ethics? Expensive porches? Terrible, shapeless blob miniatures? A complete inability to reform or reinvent itself? The yeastiest, groggiest fandom of all mecha? The worst-handled gaming franchise on this side of Sonic the Hedgehog? Throngs of furry players?
C'mon. It's okay to like BattleTech. I play it avidly. But you really shouldn't assume any form of superiority with that track record. You can't afford to be arrogant.
Not to mention they mostly use designs from anime. BattleTech fags can't even come up with their own designs so they have to buy them from japanese designers lol
Case in point. It's not an exact match but the form is there.
You'll also have to note that BattleTech was largely based on Battle of Kalnock/Stanrey, Japanese board games produced for the anime show Fang of the Sun Dougram. After all that imitation is stripped away, what are we left with?
A fandom perfectly willing to throw rocks in a glass house for one. What else?
Thought this was pretty cool, there's a Santa Claus Atlas around somewhere too
I'm honestly glad that the original designs of BT are kind of terrible across the bank. Means that all the fan-redesings usually turn out nicely.
Best Thor picture I could find
Your king has arrived
I actually really like the design of this mecha.
It's kind of like a more sensible zeek.
However, I must ask what the fuck is up with the perspective of the rifle.
Does it twist in the middle or some shit?
It might just be the flat coloring that throws it off. The blank line art might look better to you
They may be weeaboo space communists but they're designed by British people making them western.
On PC its considered more overpowered, since you can bounce around to avoid being hit by other guns while still keeping the enemy in your lock on sight Mich more easily; you can also aim down sight and pop them if you need.
On console the scene is a bit slower so its not as OP.
It's a literal scrub gun; good for scrubs, to kill scrubs, and not much else, on console anyhoe.
don't talk shit bout mah catapult
>Third one in the top row is called Cataphract
Not nearly retarded enough. Come back when you can transform into a giant fist.
>But aren't robotech mechs straight from Macross?
HG owns the rights to the Macross IP worldwide except in Japan.
You gotta remember that the acquired the rights at a point when the US had just accepted that Non-US citizens could theoretically hold IP rights.
where my Protomech bros at?
Yes it did greatly improve. It's no longer a steaming pile of horseshit. It's now a steaming pile of horseshit that's been painted a pretty color and has some daisies stuck in it.
I like the Dark Crow.
Ive always kinda hated ShimeringSwords art when it comes to mechs. Everything in his pictures, except the mechs themselves look great.
He tends to take a good design, and then uglify it by making it be this big mass of straight blocks and hard edges, losing any of the crazy angles or curves a design had.
Like he'll take a mech with "curvy" legs, where they legs are thinner at the joints, and the leg tapers down thinner at the ankles, and make it super beefy and blocky, basically giving all his mechs cankles.
I hate it.
Davide White, PLOG, and Flying Debris are at the top of my list though.
I think they're pretty dull to be honest. I'll take the 80s originals any day.
That thing always makes me laugh. Clan Snow Raven can't even afford to give it arms after they evacuated the Homeworlds.
After being kicked out of the Homeworlds by the Snakes, losing a shit ton of materiel, Warriors and civilians in the process, taking further losses from WoB sabotage in the Inner Sphere, and having to build new industry up nearly from scratch in a Periphery backwater, the Ravens weren't very well off. It took them time to get their shit up and functioning at all.
The Ghost Bears, Diamond Sharks and Jade Falcons all had established industry and infrastructure. The Hells Horses had to start in the IS almost from scratch but they left the Homeworlds in much better order than the Ravens. The Wolves were fucked because all their mech production had been in the Homeworlds and then they were completely cut off from it, so they were as badly off as the Ravens for a time, though the Wolves had a bigger touman.
I'm not so much worried about that as I am the arms running right through the missile launch systems. Granted a bit of over engineering could have the reloads pass above or below the arms before entering the launcher
Does Prawnmech count as western?
