ZZ is, effectively, the Anti-Zeta. It stays pretty light despite the fact that shit went from bad to worse throughout Zeta. Also, you need to push through if only to see a fully animated colony-drop.

I understand that you don't want to, because I went through the exact same thing. Overall, no, it's not necessary, but I think it's good to do for UC completion. I wouldn't bother watching if I was extremely limited on time though.

Even in the early episodes of Shangri-La, I knew I liked ZZ Gundam, and there was something special about it. People hated it cause of the humor, but this was the first time we got in-depth look at colony life in the series. Then the Puru arc began, and it was solidified as my favorite Gundam series. {I'm not even a lolicon.}

If you don't want to watch it, don't watch it. And maybe you'll have that burning itch inside you to come back to it later.

I'll tell you this, anon. As silly as the early episodes are, which I felt similarly about when I watched them, it gets more serious later on. IIRC there aren't a lot of times that are devoid of the kids antics until towards the end.

However, around halfway through it hooked me in, even more than Zeta. Unlike Zeta I was not too pissed off at all these cyber newtypes and Katz's to enjoy the show, and that cemented ZZ as my favorite series.

Plus I fuggen love the ZZ itself.

You don't need to watch ZZ unless you're a UC enthusiast, in which case it's relevant to the overall plot.

However, you can still be a Gundamfag by watching G, Wing, X, 08th, 0080, 0083 and F91. You won't get Goofy, Jesus, Space Autism, UNDERSTANDING or kill all Purus, but it'll still be a pretty enjoyable ride.

The only thing you'll miss out on is space aztecs and shitty writing.

One of my main problems with ZZ is that I didn't like ANY of the main characters.. Beecha and Mondo? GOD the two of them are so annoying without contributing anything, even Judau is just.. well he's lame.. Felt like the character just sorta happened.. never cared for him and only ever rooted against him. I literally watched the show for Haman of which there wasn't enough of her and to see her get killed by Judau.. ugh
