If by "Zaku II" you mean "Gundam" than I agree completely. Zakus aren't the problem, Gundams are. There are too many Gundams these days not enough of any other suit design.

0079 had 1 Gundam suit design in it (maybe two if you want to be really liberal with the definition and include the GM).

SEED had five different Gundams in the first three episodes. The heroes have Gundams, the villains have Gundams, even the druggies have Gundams.
