Hey Heretics,
My name is High Princep Gallovan of the Adeptus Mechanicus Collegia Titanica, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, warp-tainted, tau sympathizers who spend every second of their day looking at heretical false-machines. You are everything bad in the galaxy. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten to know a machine spirit? I mean, I guess it’s fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than oiling off to pictures on mechbook.
Don’t be a heretic. Just hit me with your best bolter. I’m pretty much holy. I was lord of the mechanicus repair team, and the wisest on my worshipping group. What virtues do you revel in, other than “jack off to terribly designed Tau ramshackle toys”? I also have my own machine spirit, and have a banging cybernetic body (It just got built into me, shit was SO cash). You are all heretics who should just dismantle yourselves. Thanks for listening.

To be honest I don't really like that Titan design.

I actually like the Tau too.

the titans are mecha , its also really really huge and have to use entire world to support them

so MS is easier as a military asset, I mean there is "I kill planets" series from FSS and its still smaller than a comparable titan

Actually, your average Mobile Suit is only a about four meters shorter than a Reaver Titan and four meters taller than an Warhound Titan, so they're right between the smallest Battle and Scout Titan classes.

In fact m'lord, the Warhammer 40k Equivalent to an MS, the Knight Titan, is smaller than all of them!
>>
>>11796681

40k Titans by far are more unfeasible.

Titans have shields to protect them, but these shields are the only thing that keeps them from getting cut to ribbons by all of the heavy fire that they naturally attract by right of being such a huge and obvious target. Worse yet, these shields can be overwhelmed and shit down for minutes at a time until they can be brought back online.

Titans usually have multiple banks of shields so that when one set goes down they still have backups, but the fact remains that for the shields to get brought back up it has to be manually fixed and rebooted by a team of guys who think that candles and incense are hardware tools.

Even in their own setting, Titans are huge and scary when fighting against other titans and armies and stuff, but the moment they go up against an enemy that isnt stupid they drop like flies. The Tau don't build titans even though they love mechs, they just deal with the problem using orbital dropships instead. the Titans pop like balloons and the AdMech cry foul, but the Titan as a military unit depends on being the biggest and scariest thing on the battlefield.

Think of it like a light tank in world war one. Against most enemies, a single tank is going to be imperious to their weapons and is just going to go wherever it wants and kill whatever it wants. But the moment it has to fight something with a gun that can actually harm it, it almost instantly loses its strategic value.

I like my Reals as much as the next guy, but only the bigger Titans start heading into impracticality, and that's because they are unreliably HUGE for coolness factor alone.

You're arguing that a Rock sucks because Paper covers Rock.

Titans don't operate alone - they are backed up by plenty of ground based AA and fighter cover from above. The Imperial fleet is also numerically and qualitatively superior to the Tau fleet, and whoever wins the fight in space will completely dominate the skies below.

>>11805249

But the moment it has to fight something with a gun that can actually harm it, it almost instantly loses its strategic value.

So an antitank gun can kill a tank, and a plane, infantry, or artillery can kill the antitank gun. So what? WWI tanks weren't supposed to operate alone either.

>trips

>>11814278
Even so these men are either endorsed and supported by Inquisitors and the like or else they're doing it illegally. I'm also sure it isn't only AdMech guys who do this, there are Xenobiologists, more Inquisitors, etc. dedicated to the task.
>>
>>11814500
What research the admech does is up to them. Its the Ad Mech that decides whats tech heresy not the inquisition. The way the imperium is the mechanicus as a whole can basically tell the inquisition to shove it. Because they're not technically part of it just a closely linked allied empire.
>>
>>11805274

The difference is that Titans, even the smaller ones, are so rare that even SPACE MARINES can go their entire lives without seeing one.

The Titans are meant to be the be-all end-all superweapon. The only thing more powerful than deploying a Titan to deal with a planet's problems is saying "fuck this world and everything on it" and declaring exterminatus.

In a 1v1 fight, a Titan will beat a mobile suit. But Char Aznable has personally piloted more mobile suits than most sectors of space have Titans. Mobile Suits can be spammed in large numbers, Titans cannot. So while the Titan may hold the advantage on a per-unit basis (on the ground at least, Titans are worthless in a space fight) a team of mobile suits will cut them to ribbons unless they are armed like mk1 Zakus.
>>
>>11811652

They would identify that it is made out of a superior material that they cannot replicate. Upon doing so, they would scrap the Turn-X for parts and break it down to use it to make a very limited number of superior Space Marine armors. Anything left over would end up in an AdMech or Inquistors Vault never to be touched.

40k isn't allowed to make non-stupid decisions. Non-stupid decisions might lead to less grimdark.

Largely becuase GW hypes it up more. In reality, sanctioning Exterminatus is an absolute last resort for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the weapons that can achieve it are pretty rare and not always available to use, and even in 40k, slagging an otherwise potentially usable planet is not a decision to be made lightly.

/tg/ already had the argument, and finally admitted that even one TA Commander or SC Commander can pretty much make 40k bend over and take a full and fatal Disintegrator load.
>>
>>11815284
>Finally admitted
Nigga, there's no finally.
If they don't get to the ACU within 30 minutes, or exterminatus the planet before three or so hours, they are straight-up dead.
>>
>>11815349
I'm not sure even 30 minutes will save them. In 15 at least one, maybe two, production facilities are up and running (maybe one of them already upgrading to level 2 or 3), churning out construction units and defense units, with the construction units building the defenses and assisting the ACU with further securing the resource production.

By 30 minutes, almost everything is at or near level 2 and moving on to level 3, and depending on the Commander, may even already be building their first experimental (preferably underwater for the underwater-capable ones; since unlike TA, SC sorely lacks serious underwater threats).
>>
>>11815408
Depends how badly the imperium want to keep the planet intact. If they get desperate supcom forces simply have no feasible way of stopping the imperium from just demolishing everything from orbit.
>>
>>11814500
>taller than a Warhound
>I think that's stretching it a bit.
It's true, Warhoud Titan: 14 meters tall
00 Quan[T]: 18.3 meters tall.

>>11814779
Well it depends on the SIZE of the Titan as well.
The reason you don't see smaller models like the Knight, Warhound, or Reaver despite them being far more numinous is because they're usually attached to the Titan Legions, who usually form their fighting units entirely around at least a single Warlord or better.

And even a Reaver needs an ENTIRE TANK Battalion to be taken down, and while one can argue the ARMOR of 40k tanks, they are often running their weapons off the same kind of micro reactors that POWER Mobile suits.

>>11814790
>>11814812
Yeah, it also helps that Macross-class ships have a Macross cannon, the Daedalus Attack is a technique perfect for defeating Void Shields.

Depends on the access level of the ACU. Black Sun is the biggest BFG that could possibly be constructed by the AEU (and maybe the Aeon given that the Aeon end is the canon one), and with gate access, could easily blow up entire worlds.

However, they all have advanced space technology as well; it's just never focused on due to the convenience of Quantum Gates. They still use major orbital militaries as well to help secure their frontlines (they were discussing the loss of planets and space forces), and we've seen from the early years of the war (the cutscenes) that they've even orbital bombarded planets they couldn't take.

In addition, the super-weapons of all sides are likely capable of hitting targets in space, from the massive Mavor superheavy artillery to the Scarab and Czar being space capable (not to mention the fact that the aircraft are also capable, if going by the fact that we see a few Cybran ones escorting one of their Cybran ships in the opening cutscene).

Same could apply to nuclear missiles as well. And those can be built as long as there's sufficient resources.

Sure the Imperium could sterilize a planet, but they only have so many super weapons they can use, and they'll be hard-pressed to take out the ACU when it can gate out with or without a built Quantum Gate only to appear again on another nearby world and begin again.
>>
>>11818049
Standard imperial warship weapons are sufficiently powerful too perform exterminatus on they're own. Its the Navys preferred method.
Odly imperial space assests are about as more powerful than supcom ones as supcom ground assets are better than imperial ones.
Even the super wepaon nuke in a supcom is maybe megaton yeild (and that's being generous considering its in game effect is low end kiloton) while imperial warship ordnance is gigaton pushing terraton yield equivilents. An ACU won't have time to port away if a navy warship points its main guns in its direction. The imperium can win a war of annihilation but likely at such a cost in planets it'd be a phyrric victory.
