I just finished the orguss, and let me tell you, what a piece of shit this was, no budget, and that goddamn ending.

I saw it coming as soon as the scene started and I hoped I was wrong, oh but I wasn't.

Half the battles in the show are stock footage or almost no animation, they introduce a good amount of side characters like they want to build them up but never do anything with them, not to mention all of the super retarded things that happen and the time paradox non-ending.

So yeah, this happens a week after I finally decide to watch my QTS rip of Orguss02 after waiting for months for someone to re-time the subs for it.
I did a rather poor but watchable job of time-shifting (because I'm not a timer) some .srt subs OCR'ed from the E-D release I found on the web, subs that, as destiny would have it, didn't include the parts when they're talking that other language, so i'd have to switch to the E-D release and read those parts to later re-watch them in the QTS rip.

I don't know to feel about this.
But thanks for doing it, anyway.

It was fucking worth it, though, because I freaking loved Orguss02, unlike the series, which was an absolute pain to watch and I honestly hated it.

Okay i'll just share the spiffed subs, since no one wants to privately look at them. Here's work in progress subs for episode 1. If you can look them over and quality check it for me, that will be great. I've left comments in there, for the parts I got a problem with. If we can get some really good subs out of these, i'll merge it into an mkv with the english dub too. The raw for episode should be in this thread somewhere.

At the 7 minute mark, I don't know about the "pretty pennies" remark but the
rest seems ok.

At 8:14 the translation of the second line "Moving fast" is not correct.
The line is 'kyori ni hyaku", kyori is distance, ni hyaku is two hundred.
So it's "distance two hundred", not "moving fast".

I mean, I only watched it a couple of months ago, but if there was something that was really lost in translation (I know the subs are pretty liberal, but if there's something really huge that was changed), it might be worth the try.

More from episode 1: the line at 4:39 "would you still like me to dump it back in the ocean" is "mimi wa jishin aru des" which is actually something like "i have self-confidence (jishin) in my ears (mimi)" literally. Put more smoothly, it's something like "Ah, I have confidence in my ears."

The line at 3:05 "Great, I can't wait!" is "ee, wagata" (my romanization of that may be faulty) which is not "Great, I can't wait" but more like a happy "yes, I understand". More smoothly, perhaps it's "ok, gotcha."

The Manga Entertainment translation sucks. This is the second time I've watched ep 1 and I'm finding badness all over the place. More to come!

As promised, still more from episode 1:
the 7:02 line "the enemy is getting close huh?" includes the word 'isogu', which is 'hurry' but there's no 'enemy' which is 'teki', so I have little
faith in its translation. It seems to be more like "something something is in a hurry, huh" but I can't get that first word "eraku". I'm actually

Also, I had another go at the pretty pennies line. It's "iki demo oku hoshin desu ne, sadou kamou no armor ga" 'Iki' is many things but in this case 'going' makes sense. 'Hoshin' is 'self-protection', 'demo' is 'but', 'oku' is 'put' or 'place' so the first part is maybe something like "but
leaving is for self protection". The second part, about the armor, makes a bit more sense.

Looking at it from a character point of view, Manning is rather good at looking after himself so running at the first sign of trouble makes sense.

No offense, but I'd rather take a localization than your attempt at translation, since it's clear no one in this thread is a native Japanese speaker.

The romanization of "????" is really Japanese 101, for starters, so from that point I took everything else you wrote with a grain of salt. Almost positive what you wrote as "hoshin desu" is a contraction of "hoshii no de", as in "you'd want that". And it isn't "kamou no Armor" but "kanouna (???) Armor".

OP, I love all the work you want to put into this, but it's been almost two days since you started this thread but it doesn't seem like anyone who actually knows Japanese wants to put their time or effort in this...

I do not suggest watching Manga's dub tracks with the subtitles. Although I use some of Manga's lines, these modifed subs were for the Japanese track only.

I'll still take sub suggestions and reupload them here. I'll stop bumping, so if it falls off the board so be it. When it does, I'll post this on QTS's Orguss BD nyaa page.

So in the end, all of the possible endings happened. In different universes. You get every possible ending that could ever happen. This sequel? This is one of those universes. It ain't the best possible scenario, but just think of the fact that, in another parallel universe, everyone in Orguss lived happily ever after.
