So some anon told me I should watch Ambassador Magma based on the kind of toku I enjoy. The quality is awful but its pretty enjoyable. What are some non Kamen Rider and Sentai shows you've seen or enjoy?
>>
Spectreman
Monster Prince
Redman
>>
LionMaru G is pretty recent (2006) but not many people have watched it. It's pretty enjoyable, only 13 eps long.

I've always wanted to watch Spectreman, I fond a torrent but it was seedless.

Sazer X is a good one, entirely subbed, really tight story with on the spot comedic writing and great drama.

Dinosaur Exhibition Born Free

Dinosaur Sentai Koseidon.

I just got this in the mail, seems to work fine. Quality is what you'd expect from THIS kind of a release. Subs are fine. And the people I ordered it from gave me a free DVD of Rosario + Vampire for some reason...
>>
>>11152904
Well they lied to you, you know that right? Ultraman isn't even IN Jumborg Ace.
>>
>>11152904

Why do all of Tsuburaya's heroes look like some type of Ultraman? That whole...rubber body suit and alien face mask thing is cool, but I'd like to see some variation.
>>
>>11152904
Would you be able to rip these for us? Finding downloads for any of the non-Ultra Tsuburaya shows is a pain in the ass. Heck, finding downloads for most Ultraman shows is a pain in the ass.

The program I use is handbreak and makemkv for transformer files. Use makemkv to rip that feature from the dvd. The file might be a bit bloated and if you don't mind the quality decrease handbreak can make the file size smaller. But you might not need that for what your doing.

>>
>>11192639

I have absolutely no ideia why toku-fans hate the Ishinomori characters being revamped in Rider movies so much. It's not like they will ever be reboot in their own movie/franchise. They tried with Arashi, and it was dropped. They tried again with Kikaider and it was a box office failure.

Why? I like those characters and most of them could not live up to their potential in their old TV shows. Inazuman comes to mind, its concept was so bizarre that manga and toku came out completely different from each other. Also, toku Kikaider does not even look like a robot.

That said, I would assume that the Jumborg A subs stay in sync better than the Mill creek reissues, because it was subbed with three DVD-9's in mind, and wasn't a condensed version of an already existing set. Can anyone who has downloaded the discs comment on if the subs stay in sync?

People really need to let go of this whole "tape trader" mentality. This is not 1996 anymore. This is the internet, anything that's up for grabs, can and will be uploaded to other source sites.

It's the natural lay of the land at this point. But I do understand that it's "more valuable" if left restricted to that one site, but how do you know if it's there then?

If you're looking for cool unused pilots that HAVE been subbed, Skaro Hunting Society and Hi no Tori subbed two P Productions pilots, "Jaguar-Man", and "Leopard-Man". They look pretty cool.
>>
I know a lot of people here love it, but I would say that Zubat all in all is fairly obscure.

I'd also say it's one of the best toku in regards to its intentional campiness.

>>11192907

I don't....sometimes.

I know a lot of people didn't like The First, but I did. It was trying to do something different and a little more, for lack of a better word, "modern" with the character, and I honestly liked the outcome.

The Next however is fucking garbage.
>>

Believe it or not, there's only been 12 Gamera movies. Godzilla is the one that has 28 japanese films (and 2 american ones)
>>
So while we're on the subject of rips, did anyone ever download the Godzilla collection boxser that was released japan-only a few years back? I heard it has Toho's official english subs.
>>
>>11251581

I have it, and the quality varies from film to film. I don't mean the video and audio quality, that's consistently fantastic.

I mean that in some of the movies the subs are mistimed. And in Final Wars Gordon is dubbed over (I suppose so that the Japanese can tell what he's saying)

The actual translation of the subs is fine. It's the only subtitles I've seen where King Shiisa's name is correct and isn't written as Caesar.
>>
>>11251549
Up until MFC subbed it, Zubat was obscure here in the west. In terms of overall rareness, I would think that the shows by Hiromi productions would be the rarest, as none of them have come out on DVD to my knowledge(Thunder Mask, UFO War: Fight Red Tiger, Bouken Rockbat, etc.)

>>
>>11260271
I agree. Max deserves way better treatment than this. Some other group should just finish the remaining episodes of Max and the final episode of Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle. That's a grand total of eight episodes to complete 2 series, so I'm shocked noone else has stepped in to to finish it. I'm a timer in a fansub group, so I'll ask my groupmates if they'd be interested in finishing Max and the finale of Galaxy if the anon on here has problems scrubbing it. If they are, we'll make an announcement about it, because people have waited long enough for these shows to be finished.

I got the VHSes back around 05 or so. I was at DragonCon and there was somebody unloading their collection about a buck a tape, so I got Zyu, Dai, the KR 90s movies, Kaku, tons of stuff, few things subbed but mostly raw.
>>
>>11262361
Deadfish subbed at least the first episode eons ago, and he might have subbed the second episode as well, but good luck finding them, as they haven't been seen in a few years. Japasubs has Portuguese subtitles for episodes 1 and 2 which I'm guessing were translated from the Deadfish English translations, so someone could translate them back into English if they wanted to.
>>

didn't tokuzilla or one of those DDL sites have both Lion Maru series?

>>
>>11262486
man, Zaborger. I wish somenody subbed it, the new movie is my favourite thing ever

>>
>>11158612
It's in three parts on nicovideo in slightly better quality but the interlacing is pretty bad.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7035643
>>
>>11265567
The thing with Zaborga is, the DVD's are supposed to look like shit because they just used the LD masters and didn't do anything to improve their quality, so nobody is willing to buy the discs and rip them, so there aren't any raws. Those clips of the series in the end credits of the movie look way better than the DVD/LD's because they actually cleaned them up a little. That said, I have episodes 1-4, so if I could find a tl, I'd be willing to at least time those 4 episodes, as the slow-motion fight scenes need to be seen by the world.

Once in a while, Ultraseven would use the Eyeslugger and bisect his opponent or decapitate them, which is pretty awesome for a sixties toku show. I think once he also chopped off a monster's tail and then started beating him with his own tail. Fuck Ultraman Nice, we want Ultraman Nasty.

Fair enough, but I sincerely hope you end up buying the set, because it's one of the few legit releases we've ever gotten here in the US, and it's not particularly expensive either. And before anybody chimes in with "Chaiyo had no right to license it to Shout!", I say buy the set, and let the Japanese courts sort that shit out. If they do eventually rule in favor of Tsubaraya, they will be awarded damages for whatever lost profits Chaiyo made from licensing their properties to Shout Factory, so using that as a reason to not pay for the set is just bullshit.

Tsuburaya already lost the case and has to pay over 10,000,000,000 yen in damages.

That's right. This fucker won the rights of Ultra Q, UltraMan, UltraSeven, Return of Ultraman, Ultraman Ace, Ultraman Taro and Ultraman Leo.
And Jumborg Ace.

Or as they call it. Ultraman 1: Ultra Q, Ultraman the Original, Ultraman 2: UltraSeven, The Third Ultraman, Ultraman 4: Ace, Ultraman 5: Taro, and Ultraman the Leo.

>>
>>11272480
So they lose the case in a court of law, and you make me out to be an asshole? If Tsubaraya doesn't file their own suit with the Japanese courts, that's their fault. The bottom line is, you want something for nothing, and this is just a proxy for you to hide behind. Regardless of whether Chaiyo or Tsubaraya has the rights, Shout Factory's release is legit here in the US, so by buying it you are showing to the world that their is a market for these shows in America. It's through this practice that enough of a market has been proven that we're getting a legit release of Zyuranger, and hopefully this will lead to many more in the future. Personally, I don't like what Chaiyo did either, but that doesn't mean you should get it for free. If you feel so strongly about this, don't support any of the releases that Shout licensed through Chaiyo, and either wait for a future release that is licensed by Tsuburaya, or buy the Japanese releases. Why you think that entitles you to a free subtitled release of any of these shows is a mystery to me. That said, the English subtitles are entirely the property of Shout Factory, so you should at least be ethically bound to watch the show raw. Right?

>>
>>11273153
Why does Godman need subs? It's just
>Monster shows up
>Kids call for hero.
>Hero fights monster
>>
>>11273153
Thanks
>>11273183
Well where do I download the raws then?
>>
>>11273182
It's weird because when he said they weren't up, I went to MBE's site and all of the release posts for Godman were gone, there was no trace left of it, but the Greenman and Ando Melos release posts are still there. If they decided to part ways with HNT on their joint releases of Godman, why are their joint releases of Greenman, Andro Melos, and Robot Detective still up?
>>
>>11273242
it's almost like this is some ad hoc reference guide by amateurs or something
>>
>>11273242
Because they only did the last complete episode (and the 2008 special) of Godman, they just put them in with the same release post for one of the Greenman episodes
>>
>>11273228
The DVD Godman/Greenman box set only contained various episodes from each series and the direct to video movies for each show, so if there are complete raws out there, they are going to Laserdisc or TV broadcast quality. I searched nyaa for both ????? and ??????
and came up with nothing for each of them, but that said, I have raws of the Godman/Greenman Boxset, so if the HNT/MBE subs ever vanish, I could always re-upload them. Also, I know of a site that has cable tv rips for sale if you really want the complete runs of these shows, so I'll post a link if you want me to.

If you could post the link to that cable tv rip show, that'd be awesome.

Alright guys, the Ultra Galaxy Finale is done:

>>11273448

It took some time cause the timing of the HK was a nightmare, everything went out of sync halfway through. I pretty much had to do this from scratch.
>>
>>11272432
yeah, it seems to be a lot of fun, I'm really enjoying it so far this is my first toku show i've ever seen besides mmpr so if the rest of the episodes (assuming the anon rips them all) are good I will gladly buy the DVD

I thought that was Monkey's job
>>
>>11273067
Because they fucked up the subs which are out of sync and I don't want to have to ship a DVD from another country where it won't work on my machine.

They're a ninja squad at the service of the japanese government, using ninja techniques and modern (well, for the time) weapons. They fought against evil ninjas, yakuza and evil magicians.

The show was based on a manga by Tetsuo Yoshida, the creator of Gatchaman. Many of its themes were later used on that anime.

>Tetsuo
Tatsuo, dammit

Maybe Redman is an evil being in a world inhabited by humanoid reptiles. He goes around murdering random innocents. Redman is the villain, not the hero. Hell, there's times where the monster sees him and just ignores him.

jesus christ how old is that website

He's been around since the VHS days of fansubbing, and his site has been around for at least 10 years(I remember getting VHS tapes from him of stuff like Mesupai and Bankaku Rock a decade ago). Because he's been around so long he has some pretty rare stuff, like English dubbed episodes of Cybercop, and the English subbed episodes of Zone Fighter that have Godzilla in them.

In other news, I'm going to order DVD-R's for the rest of Redman, encode them, and then have someone upload them for me. When they're up, I'll make a thread on here so we can all enjoy our favorite criminally insane Kyodai hero. Just a note, there are 138 4-minute episodes of Redman, but on the discs they are edited together in 10-minute "episodes" that contain an entire "story", so thankfully noone will have to download 138 separate episodes.

Holy crap Henshin Ninja Arashi DVDs in this thread?

Camping.

Well then, I hope you succeed. Looking forward to it.
