So some anon told me I should watch Ambassador Magma based on the kind of toku I enjoy. The quality is awful but its pretty enjoyable. What are some non Kamen Rider and Sentai shows you've seen or enjoy?
I just got this in the mail, seems to work fine. Quality is what you'd expect from THIS kind of a release. Subs are fine. And the people I ordered it from gave me a free DVD of Rosario + Vampire for some reason...
Would you be able to rip these for us? Finding downloads for any of the non-Ultra Tsuburaya shows is a pain in the ass. Heck, finding downloads for most Ultraman shows is a pain in the ass.
You know if I knew how I probably would. This is some bootleg thing so it's not like I'd feel guilt like if someone asked for the Shout Factory stuff (in before you know what). Also it was only $30 including shipping.
I'm gonna watch the whole thing first to see if the subs shit the bed. And before I order this too.
A fucking toy on the cover Jesus Christ.
Oh shit, is that the RAH Ultraman Ace?
At least they got a picture of one of the more expensive toys.
Nothing but the best from Speedy.
After Ultra Seven they tried to mix it up a bit more with their toku shows. Then ratings would slip and they'd basically turn it into another Ultra show. EVERY SINGLE TIME. After a while they just gave up.
I seem to remember Hi no Tori were working on Robot Keiji, I'm not sure how far they got with it or if there are any DDLs still floating around the internet though. Anyone know?
Okay, I'm uploading the iso files on Mega but it's slow as shit, so it'll probably take all day.
Hey as long as I'm doing this I might as well ask, does anyone have this in a non shit RAW? Having it or not will not effect me uploading this Toku.
Are the DVDs that expensive now or something?
Also I personally liked Iron King better. It had way more comedy.
Okay here is disk one. Don't expect disk two for awhile, sorry but work comes first.
And yeah I fucked up sorry.
GLORIOUS HERO OF THE PEOPLE
No problem. And sorry again about fucking up and not being able to deliver disk two. I feel really bad about that.
I need the better part of a day to upload these things onto Mega, so I won't be able to do it until my next day off on Tuesday.
>I feel really bad about that.
don't sweat it
I'm heading towards a year since I was going to find that Gold Lightan disc
Do you mind telling me how to rip certain scenes off of a iso file? There's a special feature I've always wanted to rip and post somewhere from a Doctor Who DVD.
Hey before I buy these can someone with a twitter ask Shout Factory if they're gonna be releasing more Ultraman shows? And like, bring these up. "Some Malaysian company has released these two Ultraman shows (link goes here) on DVD with English subtitles, should I just buy them or were you planning on releasing more?" Something like that?
Shout Factory's Ultra Q subtitles aren't really known for being good but I'm sure they're better then the ones for Jumborg Ace.
The program I use is handbreak and makemkv for transformer files. Use makemkv to rip that feature from the dvd. The file might be a bit bloated and if you don't mind the quality decrease handbreak can make the file size smaller. But you might not need that for what your doing.
All three of these got nice DVD releases in Italy. Italian or Japanese audio, ITA subs.
There is also the great Message From Space:Ginga Taisen TV series DVD release in France. (It was titled San Ku Kai there)
Its been over a year since they've said anything about Ultra. And it looks like their next Toku things are going to be sentai. Honestly at this point I don't think Shout will even be an option.
Which is a shame cause flaws and all I liked their releases fine.
Ernie 'Turtle Man' Brown
Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat
and other people know of Ultraman. He used to be a thing in the west. It was on TNT for ages, then Tiga was on Fox Kids.
>The Dragon is from Hawaii, no? That's probably it.
I meant more "where did this knowledge come from?"
Like, a polite version of . I believe it, I was just curious where it came from.
>watching Total Divas
not even once
Gamera is the only Tokusatsu kaiju to not be /m/ related. There's not weird machines or mecha he fights.
Missing out on the best toku cat.
Upload keeps failing, not sure why Mega is being an asshole. What's the space allowed for free accounts again? I might have to delete one of the files to upload disk two.
Okay here you go. The long nightmare is over.
Yeah, but they're kinda rough. Plus you need to download the avi raws to watch them with. I can upload the subs at least, if you want?
Man, I don't see why P Productions don't get more recognition. The hero designs may have been lacking sometimes, but the monster designs usually made up for that in spades
There's the subs. And yeah, those are the raws. Kinda low bitrate, but better than nothing. Though these subs were done by someone on D-Addicts ages ago. Skewed Studios were just going over them/some added translations for signs & dropped lines/slightly better encodes
Hell even I don't like watching iso files.
I still have Gutsy Frog just sitting on my desktop unwatched.
I have Henshin Ninja Arashi complete in DVD. Anyone interested? I think it's a pretty cool series. Not that much popular because it shared a timeslot with Ultraman Ace.
And they're worst of the bunch. Fourze looks more like a revamped Skyzel than that. I really want figures for Inazuman and Akumaizer.
Well, I'm new to this. I know how to create a iso file out of the DVD, but what's the best way to share it with people?
Ugh, I was seriously waiting on the new Inazuman figuarts.
As you said I think Inazuman would push a lot more sales. On top of being a cooler redesign, it actually serves as being closer to the original manga design than the toku version, unlike the Kyodains.
I have absolutely no ideia why toku-fans hate the Ishinomori characters being revamped in Rider movies so much. It's not like they will ever be reboot in their own movie/franchise. They tried with Arashi, and it was dropped. They tried again with Kikaider and it was a box office failure.
Why? I like those characters and most of them could not live up to their potential in their old TV shows. Inazuman comes to mind, its concept was so bizarre that manga and toku came out completely different from each other. Also, toku Kikaider does not even look like a robot.
lol Ultraman logo on Jumborg
From what I've heard, the subtitles go out of sync(although to what degree I'm not sure), and the video quality suffers a little because they crammed a six disc set onto four discs. transfh
I was just answering the dude's question about the Mill Creek reissues of Red Baron and Iron King, I wasn't talking about the Jumborg Ace subs. That said, I would assume that the Jumborg A subs stay in sync better than the Mill creek reissues, because it was subbed with three DVD-9's in mind, and wasn't a condensed version of an already existing set. Can anyone who has downloaded the discs comment on if the subs stay in sync?
They do, but ever since they lost Dark Angel it just feels like something's missing.
>Can anyone who has downloaded the discs comment on if the subs stay in sync?
I didn't notice any problems in the disc I checked. I was gonna watch a bunch tonight after Raw. I'll check back about anything out of the ordinary.
Iron King: At best, the subs show up halfway through the line they're intended for.
Red Baron: Usually pretty snappy at the start of an episode, but somewhat out of sync at the end
I think I speak for everyone when I say we are intensely interested in Arashi iso's. Once the iso's are up, I'm pretty sure one of the top toku encoders is interested in encoding it, so please let us know when the iso's up.
The Golden Bat (1966) - eng subs
699Mb | 72:55mins | 640×272 | avi
Here's the iso for Henshin Ninja Arashi disc 1. Someone please download it and tell me if it's working properly so I can upload the rest.
He said in broken grammar. As someone whose native language is American English, I don't remember any problems with the grammar, but that's just the opinion of someone fluent in American English.
>Someone uploads the 2014 Saru no Gundan boxset
>it's the "Do not use my rip to make raws or uploaded to the other websites, please respect uploader!" dipshit
Like what's the point of uploading it then? That'd be like if a chef cooked food but forbid anyone to actually eat it
>I would also like to point out that the traffic generated by the Foolz Archive usually covers the server expenses most of the time with ads.
let's hope somebody picks it up
it's creepy when foolz is down, like I try to remember something but it's gone
first ep of Star Wolf (Fugitive Alien) with Chinese subs. Hard I think.
the main file comes through, the extra txts and stuff not so much
I'm pretty sure I've got Ace raws from that ????????(??) torrent if those don't work. I've got that Ace dub that was on UltraRiderGorizard too.
Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle
https://mega.co.nz/#F!cVYVAQ4B!jxid7rLq1fFrYqV1aCuz1g is this what you're trying to get? I know there were a few Ultra Galaxies.
well if you google that moonrune string and "torrent" it'll bring up a link for that. Dunno if there's seeds atm, but I'll seed (or other wise hook you up) at some point. I'm working late as hell tonight so it definitely won't be for a day or two.
email me at chair at instituteforspacepolitics.org when I eventually forget
People really need to let go of this whole "tape trader" mentality. This is not 1996 anymore. This is the internet, anything that's up for grabs, can and will be uploaded to other source sites.
It's the natural lay of the land at this point. But I do understand that it's "more valuable" if left restricted to that one site, but how do you know if it's there then?
Saru no Gundan is the name I see people using more often. But okay, Army of the Apes
Well I doubt this go will let go of that mentality. Like seriously: http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=544997
What a douche. I'm tempted to learn how to encode just to make raws of his stuff
Been wondering if any eps of the original show for this were on the web or not.
Though it'd be weird watching it after being so used to the dub they ran on MST3k
"Ha ha ha...--YOU'RE STUCK HERE!"
I have a rip of it, but has a "Japan imports" watermark on it. I'm on dial-up so I can't upload it myself, but I am in a fansub group, and I would like to sub it someday. If you're looking for cool unused pilots that HAVE been subbed, Skaro Hunting Society and Hi no Tori subbed two P Productions pilots, "Jaguar-Man", and "Leopard-Man". They look pretty cool.
I know a lot of people here love it, but I would say that Zubat all in all is fairly obscure.
I'd also say it's one of the best toku in regards to its intentional campiness.
I know a lot of people didn't like The First, but I did. It was trying to do something different and a little more, for lack of a better word, "modern" with the character, and I honestly liked the outcome.
The Next however is fucking garbage.
I have it, and the quality varies from film to film. I don't mean the video and audio quality, that's consistently fantastic.
I mean that in some of the movies the subs are mistimed. And in Final Wars Gordon is dubbed over (I suppose so that the Japanese can tell what he's saying)
The actual translation of the subs is fine. It's the only subtitles I've seen where King Shiisa's name is correct and isn't written as Caesar.
Up until MFC subbed it, Zubat was obscure here in the west. In terms of overall rareness, I would think that the shows by Hiromi productions would be the rarest, as none of them have come out on DVD to my knowledge(Thunder Mask, UFO War: Fight Red Tiger, Bouken Rockbat, etc.)
Nope. If you look at the forum topic on it a GUIS, they say they are going to finish it for like two years. It's actually pretty funny. I can only assume that once they sub it, they'll finish the Ultraman Max joint with Tokuplex.
I agree. Max deserves way better treatment than this. Some other group should just finish the remaining episodes of Max and the final episode of Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle. That's a grand total of eight episodes to complete 2 series, so I'm shocked noone else has stepped in to to finish it. I'm a timer in a fansub group, so I'll ask my groupmates if they'd be interested in finishing Max and the finale of Galaxy if the anon on here has problems scrubbing it. If they are, we'll make an announcement about it, because people have waited long enough for these shows to be finished.
I got the VHSes back around 05 or so. I was at DragonCon and there was somebody unloading their collection about a buck a tape, so I got Zyu, Dai, the KR 90s movies, Kaku, tons of stuff, few things subbed but mostly raw.
Deadfish subbed at least the first episode eons ago, and he might have subbed the second episode as well, but good luck finding them, as they haven't been seen in a few years. Japasubs has Portuguese subtitles for episodes 1 and 2 which I'm guessing were translated from the Deadfish English translations, so someone could translate them back into English if they wanted to.
I think at one time they did, because Deadfish must have gotten his raws from somehwere. But like the Film Machine Robo subs for eps 1 and 2 of Denjin Zaborga, I'm guessing they're long gone.
It's in three parts on nicovideo in slightly better quality but the interlacing is pretty bad.
The thing with Zaborga is, the DVD's are supposed to look like shit because they just used the LD masters and didn't do anything to improve their quality, so nobody is willing to buy the discs and rip them, so there aren't any raws. Those clips of the series in the end credits of the movie look way better than the DVD/LD's because they actually cleaned them up a little. That said, I have episodes 1-4, so if I could find a tl, I'd be willing to at least time those 4 episodes, as the slow-motion fight scenes need to be seen by the world.
Someone should ask Fortmax to encode Zaborga, because they need to be cleaned up a bit(see picture).
They should have called him "Sadistman". If the Ultramen would be a little more like him, the Ultra shows would have more fans here in the west. Who wouldn't want to see Cosmos get medieval on Pigmon?
In fairness, him staying around on Earth's surface too long results in him being
stone dead, Flashman-style. So, he can afford to end fights as brutally and efficiently as possible.
That's not Redman.
Redman snaps a monster's neck after impaling them on spears, stabs them in the face repeatedly, and throws them off a cliff for good measure.
And the fucker doesn't even have a time limit. Hell, most of the monsters he fights are just wandering around doing nothing, he shows up and murders them.
Once in a while, Ultraseven would use the Eyeslugger and bisect his opponent or decapitate them, which is pretty awesome for a sixties toku show. I think once he also chopped off a monster's tail and then started beating him with his own tail. Fuck Ultraman Nice, we want Ultraman Nasty.
Try searching ????? it should help filter out all of the rap bullshit. That said, I have the first disc of the show, and it looks about the same quality-wise as the youtube clips I linked to, so I'm guessing they don't waste their time restoring these short "daily" shows as they would more marketable half-hour weekly toku shows.
Fair enough, but I sincerely hope you end up buying the set, because it's one of the few legit releases we've ever gotten here in the US, and it's not particularly expensive either. And before anybody chimes in with "Chaiyo had no right to license it to Shout!", I say buy the set, and let the Japanese courts sort that shit out. If they do eventually rule in favor of Tsubaraya, they will be awarded damages for whatever lost profits Chaiyo made from licensing their properties to Shout Factory, so using that as a reason to not pay for the set is just bullshit.
>let the Japanese courts sort that shit out
>implying Japanese courts are involved
>If they do eventually rule in favor of Tsubaraya, they will be awarded damages for whatever lost profits Chaiyo made from licensing their properties to Shout Factory
Tsuburaya already lost the case and has to pay over 10,000,000,000 yen in damages.
That's right. This fucker won the rights of Ultra Q, UltraMan, UltraSeven, Return of Ultraman, Ultraman Ace, Ultraman Taro and Ultraman Leo.
And Jumborg Ace.
Or as they call it. Ultraman 1: Ultra Q, Ultraman the Original, Ultraman 2: UltraSeven, The Third Ultraman, Ultraman 4: Ace, Ultraman 5: Taro, and Ultraman the Leo.
>Chaiyo got away with using Kamen Rider footage illegally and tried to pull the same shit with Toei.
>Chaiyo said they were there when Tsuburaya made Ultraman. Chaiyo said Eiji Tsuburaya took their advice to make him a giant
>Chaiyo said they made the monster suits.
>Chaiyo said they made Ultraman a biblical figure.
So they lose the case in a court of law, and you make me out to be an asshole? If Tsubaraya doesn't file their own suit with the Japanese courts, that's their fault. The bottom line is, you want something for nothing, and this is just a proxy for you to hide behind. Regardless of whether Chaiyo or Tsubaraya has the rights, Shout Factory's release is legit here in the US, so by buying it you are showing to the world that their is a market for these shows in America. It's through this practice that enough of a market has been proven that we're getting a legit release of Zyuranger, and hopefully this will lead to many more in the future. Personally, I don't like what Chaiyo did either, but that doesn't mean you should get it for free. If you feel so strongly about this, don't support any of the releases that Shout licensed through Chaiyo, and either wait for a future release that is licensed by Tsuburaya, or buy the Japanese releases. Why you think that entitles you to a free subtitled release of any of these shows is a mystery to me. That said, the English subtitles are entirely the property of Shout Factory, so you should at least be ethically bound to watch the show raw. Right?
Why not just buy the legit releases? They are all under $10 each which is a steal. It also might convince Mill Creek to put out Silver Kamen. Also, their release of Fight! Dragon is worth picking up as well, as it's under $10 as well.
>Tsuburaya was going to give a behind the scenes featurette, how they made some of the effects, the story behind UltraSeven and the plot of Ultra Q and the Birth of Ultraman live stage show.
>Chaiyo, who didn't have access to the vault where Tsuburaya keeps these, just releases half assed subs for Shout to give out.
>THE MONSTER, GOMESSUS
>Tsuburaya's offical copyright of the monster
>GOMESSUS IS FIGHTING THE BIRD, RITORIAS
>the monster's fucking name is Litra.
Why MBE took down their Godman releases I have no clue, but their Greenman releases are still up, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Anyway, here is photographic evidence that HNT's Godman subs are still up.
It's weird because when he said they weren't up, I went to MBE's site and all of the release posts for Godman were gone, there was no trace left of it, but the Greenman and Ando Melos release posts are still there. If they decided to part ways with HNT on their joint releases of Godman, why are their joint releases of Greenman, Andro Melos, and Robot Detective still up?
The DVD Godman/Greenman box set only contained various episodes from each series and the direct to video movies for each show, so if there are complete raws out there, they are going to Laserdisc or TV broadcast quality. I searched nyaa for both ????? and ??????
and came up with nothing for each of them, but that said, I have raws of the Godman/Greenman Boxset, so if the HNT/MBE subs ever vanish, I could always re-upload them. Also, I know of a site that has cable tv rips for sale if you really want the complete runs of these shows, so I'll post a link if you want me to.
Toei Channel recently aired the Ninja Butai Gekko movie (aka Phantom Agents) with captions.
For any nostalgic aussies out there
He charges like 12 bones a disc, but I'v bought from him before and he's reliable.
Alright guys, the Ultra Galaxy Finale is done:
It took some time cause the timing of the HK was a nightmare, everything went out of sync halfway through. I pretty much had to do this from scratch.
yeah, it seems to be a lot of fun, I'm really enjoying it so far
this is my first toku show i've ever seen besides mmprso if the rest of the episodes (assuming the anon rips them all) are good I will gladly buy the DVD
They're a ninja squad at the service of the japanese government, using ninja techniques and modern (well, for the time) weapons. They fought against evil ninjas, yakuza and evil magicians.
The show was based on a manga by Tetsuo Yoshida, the creator of Gatchaman. Many of its themes were later used on that anime.
Maybe Redman is an evil being in a world inhabited by humanoid reptiles. He goes around murdering random innocents. Redman is the villain, not the hero. Hell, there's times where the monster sees him and just ignores him.
He's been around since the VHS days of fansubbing, and his site has been around for at least 10 years(I remember getting VHS tapes from him of stuff like Mesupai and Bankaku Rock a decade ago). Because he's been around so long he has some pretty rare stuff, like English dubbed episodes of Cybercop, and the English subbed episodes of Zone Fighter that have Godzilla in them.
In other news, I'm going to order DVD-R's for the rest of Redman, encode them, and then have someone upload them for me. When they're up, I'll make a thread on here so we can all enjoy our favorite criminally insane Kyodai hero. Just a note, there are 138 4-minute episodes of Redman, but on the discs they are edited together in 10-minute "episodes" that contain an entire "story", so thankfully noone will have to download 138 separate episodes.
Daigoro vs. Goliath ever get subbed? I always wanted to watch that.
Yeah, Hi no Tori subbed a while back. They also did the Tekkouki Mikazuki films, Skull Soldier, and Agon the Atomic Dragon.
