Alright /m/,

/jp/ janny deletrd my last tokusatsu thread on my beloved /jp/.

I'm looking for obscure tokusatsu. I've seen Kamen rider and the general of the mill stuff. I once made a similar thread before like this one. Looking for vintage stuff with a lot of creatures and special effects. Please enjoy and contribute.

>1973 12 episode series Majin Hunter Mitsurugi

Can you or anyone else please tell me the name of the Tokusatsu from the 80's where the creators (director, writer, producer, qnd special effects expert) were all inspired by Jim Henson to create tokusatsu with puppetry after they watched The Dark Crystal?

Anyone watch the full series or even the movie from last year?
pandora tv has a bunch, like this ep of Ryusei Ningen Zone

as for your query, I dunno any story like that behind it, but X-Bomber (Star Fleet in British-y places) was rod puppets.

there's also those flying sword kung fu whatever puppet shows
> you will never be a soldier in the space
Fucking hell...
here man I remember you. thanks for your reply now and in the past. I remember you posting that before. I just saw you on archive reply to me from like a year ago. I'll watch that series.

Here though, this was the post I was looking for.
What do you know, I found my old thread.

I need to find some Akakage raws again.

It was fucking insane. Magic ninjas anachronistically armed to the point of hilarity fight giant monsters.
I always wanted to know where that gif was from.
The part where she knocks that truck off a cliff is new to me.
How about Tetsujin Tiger Seven
The monsters on Hikari Sentai Maskman are REALLY Henson-esque, so that may be the show your thinking of, as it aired in 1987. GUIS subbed the entire showif you want to check it out. Also, the villains on the Metal Hero shows up to the rescue trilogy are pretty bizarre and from the eighties. From the seventies, the monsters on the 13-episode show Shirojishi Kamen(White Lion Mask) are all based on Yokai, so if you like Kara-Kasa's hopping around with their tongues hanging out, check that one out also.
If any of you ever come across any episodes of ???? (Mesupai or Mespy) let me know. It's about a spy with super cyborg tits who fights monsters with them. And it's not JAV. Naoko Takeuchi actually was partially inspired by it for Sailor Moon. Somehow.

The Fushigi Comedy Series are pretty obscure. Everyone knows Poitrine now, but very few people know about Magical Chinese Girls Ipanema, PaiPai, and Great Ryugujo.

Nemurin is another really obscure one, I think made to ride the Gremlins wave of popularity.
>Magical Chinese Girl PaiPa
The one with MC went missing during filming, and ended up becoming a porn actress some 10 years ago.
I fucking love the ED for Kaiju Booska
>Silent Hill by Platinum Games
*OP, not sure why I wrote ED
wait, fucking what?
that is hilarious.
All true. It happened, even the JAV part. She also was doing photobooks shortly afterwards.
There was a rumor she was banging her agent and got pregnant. She wouldn't have been able to finish out the show.
Actually, with the exception of Ipanema, Poitrine and Paipai both had names that meant "boobs". Kind of amusing.

Why are so Many Words Capitalized like that?
Any images of the show? Google not helping.
English is hard, apparently. I'm amazed how many native speakers survive long enough to be able to drink, vote and fight in wars, but somehow never learn to make words good write.

Does Godman count? That gets pretty retarded.

Also anyone have a download for Godman? I had the raws on my old harddrive but haven't been able to find them on the net since.

Megabestempire did it, along with Greenman.

here's another rare toku: Neblua Mask machineman. No subbed version yet.
Mespai came out in 1997, though, wasn't Sailor Moon already over?

According to wikipedia, it's Miss Spy.
I looked up what you're talking about. The 97 one is a v-cinema based on the TV show, loosely I think.
Here's a screenshot from Chukana PaiPai. I have a few episodes of it, so if you want a screenshot of her as her nerdy alter-ego, let me know and I'll post one.
And here she is nerded-up:
I like this look more.
>look up prices of dvds
>$130 bucks for each volume (of two)
Dang dude, that's some price tag
>smile and enthusiasm: gone
her 'for science research' video list (not work save)
> Japanese prices
It's Metal Heroes. Mainstream.

Kikaider, episode 24.

I loved this show. There's a full series torrent...with absolutely no seeds, so it'll be difficult to find downloads of it. A lot of these more obscure shows do get full uploads, but in a world of torrents, they tend to die very fast.
One day I would love to see more of the Fushigi Comedy shows. There's a point in where the franchise becomes live action magical girl shows and the only one I've managed to see in full is the one used in Wizard.
Are there any decent raws of this?
>Ryukendo is 8 years old
>Still no sequel

Oh my god hahahaha
For a bit I thought she's Hououranger.
So what's happen when she missing, they replace the actress or ended the show?
Sporadic remainder that if you know spanish you can watch Jiban up to episode 43
She does look a lot like Lin doesn't she.
They wrapped it up and rushed with Ipanema production. Basically a sequel of Paipai in the same universe.

All of them are Ishinomori Heroines, have the chance of showing up in future Mega Max movies (if there will be any).
Ultra Q came out on dvd in america last year. I might buy it. Just bought ultra man complete first series for $6

Why hasn't more ultraman come to us?

Also all of South and Central America televised Lion Maru in the 1980's
all that heroine caught up to her.....gee....
Because fans are apathetic towards Ultraman.
So why Shousoutrian can teaming up with the original Ultraman?
Awesome list, do you have a source or did you write it yourself?
I think that was around the time that they made Ultraman vs Kamen Rider, so Toei and Tsubaraya were probably on good enough terms that they would be okay with Ultraman appearing in an episode of ShuShuTorian. Or, Toei could have just changed a suit enough to look like Ultraman, but be just different enough to avoid getting sued. For anyone interested, the clip we are discussing is this one:
I have seen episodes of all of them except Chukana Ipanema and Utau DaiRyuguujou, and definitely the best of them are Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine and Yugenjikko San-Shimai Shushutorian. The rest are okay, but as a guy I just couldn't get into them as much as Shushutorian and Poitrine. In a way, Kakuranger is considered a quasi-sequel to Shushutorian, as one of the three sisters(Satomi Hirose) played Tsuruhime on Kakuranger, and the other two sisters make guest appearances later on in Kakuranger, which started airing just four months after Shushutorian ended.
And if you know portuguese you can watch it all

He only designed Poitrine, though. The others have his name for advertising purposes only.

Kikaider came out in 1972, way before Inazuman and Robot Keiji.
Wrote it myself. I'm probably the biggest toku geek on this site, as I've seen about 80% of the shows on that list. That's a slightly old version though, since I switched over to a spreadsheet recently, so there might be a few missing here and there. The list ignores a lot of the Toei Fushigi Comedy series, which is something I've fixed in more recent versions. Thankfully other people have mentioned it in this thread.
Nah. That is most definitely a result of Toei getting permission. That's actually Ultraman (Susumu Kurobe is even in the episode), those are Ultra kaiju, and that is definitely Booska.
I'll never understand why spiderman has a robot in that show.
Can you think of a good reason why he shouldn't?
You know what country and decade it's from right? There shouldn't be any questions left.
When ever you have the choice between "having a robot" and "not having a robot", I think the proper choice is obvious.

The question is, "Why WOULDN'T he have a robot?"

Have you ever seen Henshin Ninja Arashi?
Of course. It's a bit odd compared to some other Ishinomori stuff, but that's its charm.

Where? I'm buying the DVDs because I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. Only the original manga.
That description alone makes it seem appealing by 100000%
I wonder why Zone Fighter never came to the U.S. considering the possibilities.
>Hurr durr, it's got Godzilla, so it must be a good show. Hurr durr.
Combination of DVDs and secondhand.
I thought it was alright for an Ultraman rip-off.

But we already had the real deal. And Jet Jaguar.
based Nekorider, one of the few that actually knows japanese.
Remember, most Godzilla fans hate the 1970s. Even though there were Zone episodes directed by Ishiro Honda, they don't consider it "true" Godzilla.

Also, I think ADV tried to get the rights once, but Toho wanted an arm and a leg.
>most Godzilla fans hate the 1970s
Gojira vs Hedorah says fuck you.
Actually i think it's just some sort of in-joke because Toei sold their robots to marvel in exchange.
I'm not surprised Zone's never gotten a domestic release for it's Godzilla content.
The stuff with Godzilla isn't terrible when you handicap it's under tv budget restrictions with recycled suits that had seen better days by that point, but that's a long way to handicap Godzilla footage.
