This was great. I smiled ear to ear the whole time. I got giddy like a kid when all the old characters were popping up. Fucking Torin coming back as a ghost made me feel feels. This is why I watch toku man. It makes me feel good.
Am I the only one that kind of wished that the Great Grandkid's actual colors were what they started with? Granted, them having their predecessor's colors makes sense, bu you don't have to have the main team colors to be BRAVE.
... It's probably because they would have had to have spent money on making a new combination weapon, isn't it?
>>11065484 I know, they were their true colors and all that, but still, did their true colors HAVE to be their predecessors' colors? It would have been neat to have seen the lesser used Dinos get their spotlight, at least...
>the personality of the characters was multiplied tenfold to make them wackier >amy and souji's descendants still have 0 personality while everyone else is ridiculously fun >daigo still steals the show
I know I'll get a lot of hate for this but I have never watched a sentai series ever since I was 12. But tuning into these v cinema/end of series specials makes me feel like I would have enjoyed it a lot.
>>11067327 I get the impression that the actor ad-libbed a lot of Uppy's mannerisms during the movie and even the ending dance. He's one of the more experienced actors in the cast and he kept adding little flairs to his poses in one of the press events.
I liked it. It's really not hard to make a good V-Cinema Sentai release like these, Shinkenger, Go-Busters, etc. just because you've had enough time away from the characters since the series ended, and they tend to play more with the characters a lot more.
I like it when Sentai has dopey but heartful messages driving the main theme, and this one was great because it tied into the whole 'brave' thing Kyoryuger did: if you're brave, you can take on anything. That felt pahfekt for an after series Kyoryuger special.
I do kinda, sorta wished they kept the color scheme they had going at the beginning, that was part of the reason I was looking forward to this one. A Sentai team of non conventional colors would have been cool, especially because an all cool color team actually looked pretty good together.
>Still no canon confirmation of Nossan x Candelira Goddammit Toei, stop screwing with our feelings. That' two second flashback while she was looking at Not!Nossan, we know what it means just stop jerking around. And the she shows up JUST a second too late to see Nossan's spirit, what a shit move, wow you guys are assholes.
Now only Trainger vs Sambasaurs is left. Fingers crossed...
>>11069711 >Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger x Future Kyoryuger 100 x Animal Sentai Go-Busters x Kanpai Senshi After V >ULTIMATE NOT-SENTAI LOSER TAISEN >Featuring guest appearances by Abare Pink, White Racer, Shoko-tan, and some other losers who will never be real Sentai members.
>>11067309 Nah, there's segments of spotlight hogging but it always levels out. The only true problem Kyoryuger has is the shoehorned romance bullshit in the last few episodes that absolutely kills the hype and the awful soloing of the extremely boring final boss.
I'm still too burned on the trainwreck that was the final Kyoryuger episode and the shoehorned, awful Amy and Daigo relationship bullshit to care about this movie. I loved Kyoryuger so much until it fumbled the ending and shat on itself.
I'm just going to pretend the last thing I saw was the final Aigaron ep and Nossan and Candelira actually got together.
>>11069973 Even if it wasn't "shoehorned," It was still horrendously handled and out of nowhere and had zero dramatic weight and is probably the most boring thing fucking ever you can leave the end of the series having to touch upon.
>>11070251 Her face is kinda fat, and it doesn't really come together to pull of the "cute" look. If she had a slimmer face I feel it would compliment her other features better. I don't think she's ugly, but I wouldn't put her as attractive either. Just an average looking woman. Seen much better in sentai.
"Everyone, thank you for cheering us on all this time. We couldn't have done it without you. And thanks to you, we hung in there until the very end. Don't ever forget about us, okay? And we'll never forget about you! Until we meet again, my comrades."
To be fair, W had its share of rather shitty plot moments too.
Such as Wakana suddenly turning all evil, for NO REASON AT ALL. I mean, they implied there was brainwashing or something, but they never showed it and basically she was just all evil until the end of the show when she died to bring Philip back.
>>11071155 But the Go-Busters were never sidelined in any of their movies. The most recent one with the Kyoryugers and Aba/Zyu had them doing pretty much all of the important stuff while the Kyoryugers were relegated to wearing black jackets for two scenes and then a fight at the end.
>>11071854 They were doing "plot important" stuff basically by fighting random grunts though while the Kyoryuger and Dino teams faced the main villains. It was smarter than what was done with the Gokaiger, but they were clearly sidelined from the main action.
>>11071854 >But the Go-Busters were never sidelined in any of their movies. Yes, only in the Kyoryu vs Gobus. Although I like that their appearance may be not short, but they always the one who saved the other teams.
>>11071920 >>11071931 Even so, at least they did something important unlike the others. Who located where Ryouga and Geki were? They did. Who shutdown the doomsday device before it could activate? They did. Yes they weren't in the big final fight with the main villains, but they at least did something important then "lol we're evil now. Fuck the dinos" Let's just come the fact that recent VS plots have become worse after VS Gavan.
>>11071931 >>11071920 >first on the case >know what's up with the plot >freeing and saving everyone in every fight they're involved in >Kyoryugers shoot a few dinosaurs and then spam finishers in the final fight, which the Go-Busters join in anyway at the end Go watch the movie again and keep your eyes open this time. I want to imagine more people on /m/ are simply bitter about the Gokaiger movie fiasco and choosing to believe Go-Busters got the same treatment, rather than believe they're just blind.
>>11071956 Since when has the "importance" of a team during a movie become based on plot instead of cool fights? They may as well have just sat at computers and hacked it it wasn't about fight sequences with cool weapons/explosions/rolecalls
i dunno, i was a bit disappointed with this special. i feel like these specials should be the place where they release one last cool gimmick, one bit of eye candy. something cool and memorable, like the riders always have special exclusive forms or some shit. here, i was hoping to see daigo use the white minityra to become kyoryu navy carnival mode.....yea thats not what happened and it sucked
>>11080395 >implying carnival mode navy wouldnt be fuckin awesome
sentai is a fucking kids show meant to sell toys. its entire purpose is cool gimmicks. yes, great stories are also a huge bonus, and the story in this special wasnt bad, but dont getting your panties in a knot and pretend sentai is the pinnacle of cinema
>>11080444 hey i didnt say this was the worst fucking special ever. all i said was that i was a bit disappointed. slightly. story was fine, it was a good epilogue for the series, but come up, you cant tell me that them using the blue colors for all of two fights and the white minityra turning out to be the red one as seen by color blind daigo wasnt a bit disappointing. they could have done better. they had the set up for better, but didnt go through with it
>>11080449 You seem to have missed the original team getting their own beast battery. That was the new toy this movie introduced as far as I know, it could be old actually, and that was enough IMO, expecting a new mech or something big out of this is being delusional.
I really liked it, it was surprising to see things like this >>11079395 and other stuff getting clossure when I was certain they pretty much forgot about those plots altogether. Also Uppy. And Nobuta. Man such fun actors, now I want to watch a Kyouryuger supercut with all their best moments from the series. Someone please tell me such a thing exists.
Honestly what I was personally hoping for was the mostly-blue Kyoryugers to go all in before swapping. Like using Tobaspino as their main mech and trying to jury rig out some kind of new all-combined attack from old props.
The entire idea that you need those specific six is kind of contradicted in the series itself. Most of the Kyoryugers were kamen rider style lone heroes and Violet/Cyan/Grey/Gold all saw more personal action than as a group.
I mean shit, with Utchy dead and Yayoi having fought a few battles shouldn't she take over as the full time sixth anyway?
>>11082765 Summer movie has higher budget than standard episode. "Returns V-Cinema" has basically the same budget of a standard episode for a longer story. You really shouldn't expect many new props from these.
>>11064418 Waiting for TVN is suffering. So is it a good Returns movie?
Also what the fuck is the deal with the new Toei Hero Next movie? Is it actually somewhat canon to Kyoryuger, or is it meta, or does it just happen to star the entire cast of Kyoryuger wearing the same colored clothes as their characters...or what?
The only thing that the Hero Next movie is related to Kyoryger is that the characters are in the shows universe.
The only slight references to Kyoryger is by the news caster who is portrayed by the actress who play Mele in Gekiranger and a scene where Yuki Yamada who played Gokai Blue gets scared and literally piss on himself by a fake Zorima.
>>11086285 >>11086300 >>11086318 It's kind of sad how I mention TVN off-hand, and then all of the armies of /m/ rush to rape my anus. You guys are worse than SJWs. You actually care this much about which shitty group I use to watch toku. I'm flattered, and your concern is appreciated, but please stop making idiots of yourselves.
The only reason you kids even start these sub wars is to look cool in front of all your anonymous friends, and to make yourself feel smart. You're welcome to do so, but it's not going to make me watch shittier subs than I already have to.
>>11086732 >bringing up SJWs for no reason >"Please stop looking black", said the pot, outrageously >you kids Hey, I give it a 1/10, have a nice reply so you feel good about taking that much effort to hook line and stinker.
>>11086750 Actually the comparison to SJWs is pretty accurate. Just replace Social with Subs. /m/ is lazy and chaotic, but give them subpar fansubs to criticize, and they will devour it just like the average Tumblr girl will devour female objectification.
>>11086732 I don't really think that fansub preferences are worth getting excited about, but it genuinely does strike me as odd that someone would wait for TVN. The reasons why are obvious, and well-documented.
I mean, I guess you might just like honorifics and flashy typesetting, in which case I guess that's okay. But even then... it's not like it doesn't have drawbacks still
>>11086772 Not defending TVN or anything but >>11086763 is correct. We can't fucking discuss or even bring up Hurricanger, Abaranger, or Gekiranger with insane sub shitwars derailing the thread. And not all those are TVN either.
>>11086800 Since you are a civil human being and not a shit-flinging ape, I'll humor you and explain myself.
Believe me, it's not that I like TVN. TVN is absolute shit. But it's a brand of shit I can deal with. Groups like O-T and Aesir on the other hand, are infuriating. For example, when I come across puns that are translated in a liberal fashion, it completely takes me out of the show because I know that what was subbed is not what they said. Sure, I can probably gather that it was a pun, but that's beside the point. I don't want to know what O-T thinks is a good pun. I want to know the pun that was said. O-T are not the writers of the show, so I don't really give a fuck what they think is funny.
As autistic as "o-baka-chan-tachi" is, it's not a big deal for me. Like most other people on this board, I know what it means, and it won't impede my understanding of the show. Plus they haven't pulled something like that in years. But of course /m/ latches onto the tiny examples to support their campaign against takenoko.
I don't mind honorifics one way or the other. I don't mind flashy typesetting one way or the other. I don't even mind TVN's notorious little mistakes. Unlike O-T, TVN's mistranslations are mistakes, and not actively changing what is being said. Sure, no translation is 1:1, but O-T/Aesir/whatever goes way too far in the wrong direction for me. Some people may be able to turn of their brains and just eat up the shit made up by these groups, but for whatever reason, I just can't.
And it's not like this is actually a big deal to me. All preferences seem much more passionate on the internet, I just use TVN out of mild dislike for O-T. And the only reason I'm waiting for the TVN release is for the sake of consistency, since I save everything. If O-T was the only one subbing, I'd download it without complaint.
>>11086872 You have shit taste. You're also entitled to having shit taste. But don't complain about getting relentlessly mocked when you express your shit taste in a "holier than thou" manner like in >>11086732
Well to be honest all anon said was how he was just waiting on TV-N subs >>11086160 and that's when this happened >>11086174 and it took off from there.
This happens every time some either mention TV-N or their image is from a TV-N sub. If someone likes or watches their subs it shouldn't have to be someone questioning them and saying that they have shit tastes. That's how threads get derailed with mindless back and forth jabs.
>>11086872 While I don't necessarily agree with your opinion, I really do like that your brought up the fact that /m/ makes TVN look like the fucking devil. It's like jews in /pol/.
I've seen anons remark about skipping entire shows, GREAT shows, just because they only have TVN subs. That's absolutely ridiculous. Like you said, most /m/en probably already know basic Japanese, so skipping a show like Kabuto out of spite because the subs say "onii-chan" instead of "bro" is really retarded.
...Other than that, since most shows these day have other groups subbing them... yeah, haven't found a reason to downloaded a takenoko show in years..
>>11087046 >It's bad, but not a complete abortion like their Blade subs. But, see, that's the sort of attitude that someone here will read and go "hmm, yeah okay maybe I'll watch Kabuto but definitely not Blade!" which is a real shame, since that too isn't really as bad as you make it sound.
But this is going nowhere. I'll say "it's not as bad as HK subs" and someone will say "nah man it's worse" and I'll say "fuck off at least they got the point across" and they'll say "by inventing lines and completely missing the point of the dialog?" along with the obligatory example image and I'll go "that's from a show they did over ten years" and then "yeah well it's shit and they still shit on shows to this day so fuck off" et cetera...
>>11087100 Blade is definitely as bad as everyone says. Just for the absolutely awful encoding it has. TVN barely has a grasp of English, let alone Japanese. It doesn't matter if it was a Decade ago or last week, they're still complete and utter shit.
>>11087114 I always laugh at faggots like this who claim to know what's going on, complain about translation choices, but can't be bothered to actually make a few simple changes that aren't even possible with TVN subs.
These are the kind of weeaboos that will never leave their parents' basement.
>>11087144 I've watched Blade twice witch TVN subs. It's my second favorite Heisei rider. The only difference between us is that you're an entitled basement dwelling child who purposefully deprives himself of good experiences in order to look cool on an image board about waifus.
>mfw you will still think you're on the high ground
>>11087187 And here we see the cancer of /m/ in its natural environment. Watch as it speaks. Its words carry a special venom that instantly attacks those who would employ logic against him. A very interesting and dangerous evolutionary adaptation, indeed.
>>11087224 Another interesting adaptation of this creature is to mimic other posts he has seen before. The creature is actually incapable of original thought, and thus imitates words of those who might support him in a dire situation. Fascinating.
>>11086732 >the year 20XX in the tokusatsu fandom >we have way better alternatives to most things post 2010 and everything before 2004 and slowly that 6 year gap period of unchallenged subbing is being filled in through much more well done retranslations >It's been nearly 5 years since many other groups have come into the limelight and somehow people STILL can't into change and continue to use the highly inaccurate, poor quality sub group that is below average in absolutely every category of their product
It's baffling how stupid this fandom is sometimes. There's nothing wrong with multiple groups having done the same shows, so the viewer can choose between them, but tv-n is such a horrible unchanging relic of early 00's weeb subs by people without the skills to do a proper job that everything they have ever done shouldn't be spoken of.
>>11087144 TV-N's translation actually changes the plot of Blade. They translate "Tachibana was with the Undead" to "Tachibana-san was controlling the Undead-tachi". Cue first time Blade viewers being confused when Garren continues to have no influence over the Undead whatsoever. It's quality is so poor it that it actively misinforms the viewer about what is going on. Then there's a certain bit of dialogue in Faiz they mistanslated that actually spoils the plot. And it's not just a mistake, it's an outright deliberate mistranslation.
Not liking the way Overtime or Aesir do things is fine, but you're acting like TV-N has anywhere near a clue what they're doing. And they don't. Their subs aren't more accurate because they don't translate puns or honoriffics, they're still inaccurate to the point that it ruins the actual show. They actively rewrite the original plot of the series just as much as you accuse Aesir of doing, they just do it out of incompetence rather than a desire to localise.
And that aside their font choices and encodes are still perpetually stuck in the fansub community circa 2004. The hate for them might be blown out of proportion, but it is entirely justified.
>>11090094 > Cue first time Blade viewers being confused when Garren continues to have no influence over the Undead whatsoever. I saw TV-N Blade and never thought that my husbando was controlling the undead. When did they say that? In the beggining when they suspected him?
Not the guy asking, and perhaps it's just that time has erased my memory of any confusion but context plays a large role in shows and understanding of them. I don't recall thinking that Tachibana was ever controlling the undead, presumably because even with that line it soon became clear from his actions that he wasn't. I'm not saying that TV-N don't make mistakes, nor do I even prefer them over a given alternative personally - but acting like the show any understanding of the plot of the show is fucked or irreversibly damaged because of such mistakes is massively under-estimating people's ability to reason simply for the sake of hating more on them. They're fine for what they are when there's no other alternative.
Unless you can prove that they got large portions of the plot wrong, so that a given viewer's understanding of the overall structure of the plot is entirely wrong - then not really, no. They might get specific lines wrong, cause some confusion which the show quickly corrects through context etc. but I don't think they've ever fucked up so badly that people come out of a show with a completely wrong idea of how a characters arc went, or what the overall plot was.
>>11091753 >>11091809 This. Subs are supplementary to your understanding of a show, not primary. If you seriously cannot use common sense and simply perceive the show you're watching, you're a braindead nigger who might make better use of his time watching Power Rangers.
TVN is awful, but there is literally no good reason to refuse watching their subs when it's the only option. These people actually think they're being cool because they deprive themselves of god-tier shows like Dairanger, Gekiranger, and Magiranger. It really is amazing how just a couple belligerent anti-TVN drones on /m/ has turned the entire site into the most effective alarmist propaganda machine. You guys would've been greatly useful during the Red Scare.
Which only points out specific instances, not the overall understanding of the plot or a given character's arc. Two completely separate things. There isn't a single instance on said blog of either that I know of, but if you want to point me to one I'm happy to be proven wrong.
And no, I don't mean a shot like the above controlling undead thing, I mean a group of shots that show that TV-N's subs indicate Hajime's arc was about becoming more human and accepting this as a good thing, opening up to the people around him while in reality it was actually something different. Getting a line wrong doesn't mean screwing the entire plot or arc up because there's lots of other lines and lots of other cues to a given plot or arc outside spoken word in a visual medium.
>>11091923 This is the true problem. It's not just TV-N hate. This is hate over any subgroup that isn't O-T/Aesir/GUIS. Same thing with Imagination Station. Their Aba subs aren't bad but /m/ still shits on them.
>>11091955 >306 >already on bump limit thanks tvn you literally killed the thread. This was the last kyoryuger thread ever. bye everyone! it was a ton of fun, gonna miss you all. See you for the crossover with trains.
>>11095750 >W-w-why don't YOU do a better job, huh!? Haha, this nigga. That's how you know something is shit, people jump to its defense with "if you don't like it, do better". Because you totally need to be able to make an awesome cake in order to complain about a putrid one.
