Daft Punk, as a pair of Zentradi techno composers/DJs.

The plot of the show involves fighting a bunch of mysterious powerful machine-ships that are very aggressive. The music theme this time is that Daftradi's gimmick is that the sample sounds and patterns from the deep space sensors and work it into their music for add that inhuman weird spice to their music.

Something they are sampling is part of the control signal that drives the machines, and when the music plays the machines pick up on that and start paying attention like they are going to be given orders. But the rest of the 'command' is techno music, so it just confuses the shit out of them and stuns them long enough to be destroyed.

Halfway through the series, we finally meet the builders of the machine ships. They are a protoculture seeded race that killed their BirdMan and reverse-engineered it. They got into their first war with the Zentradi and managed to survive with a pure military victory, no culture attack. In response, they started building the machine weapons to defend their space.

They know that the rest of the galaxy is dangerous, so they just churn out automated machine weapons and surround the region they control with them, programmed to automatically swarm and attack invaders. They are presented as being like what humanity might have become if we just violenced our way through the usual macross problems instead of using music and culture. And now that they know that there is a unified galactic power growing out from Earth (instead of a bunch of smaller warring Zentradi factions) they are feeling VERY threatened.

Culture isn't going to work on the builders, but music might still be the secret to beating their machines...

Interesting premise. Some nice worldbuilding. Flawed execution, and the plot goes full retard after a certain point as it throws away its most interesting features to be more generic and marketable.

Yes. It's not the worst thing in the world nor is it even memorably bad. But it was indeed a bad show.

It had an ensemble cast where literally 1 character mattered and just got dumber each episode. By s2 I was only watching for the slow dismantling of Slaine's life.

I would argue Getter doesn't necessarily follow that. Usually the Getter pilots are all on pretty even footing physically, with the Getter 1 pilot being the most physically adept. It's more along the lines of: hotblooded leader pilots Getter 1, aloof one pilots Getter 2, grounded and emotional core of the team pilots Getter 3.

Getter 1: Ryouma, Go, Takuma. These are all middle of the road leaders who are pretty strong and smart. Just like Getter 1 is an all rounder form.
Getter 2: Hayato, Sho, Kamui. These are all the calculating types. Getter 2 is always the fastest.
Getter 3: Musashi, Benkei, Gai, Baku. These are all the big guys who even dwarf the Getter 1 pilots in raw strength. Getter 3 is always the physically strongest form.

Now post Getter teams or don't post at all.

Except you are wrong? Gai is literally the brains of the Neo Getter team, not Sho. You also have proof that Ryoma was the strongest pilot more than once, specifically in New Getter where he beats the shit out of Musashibo. Are you also going to claim Gai is stronger than Go?

Getter 3 isn't the strongest mode it's usually the specialized mode. Getter 1 offers strength and versatility, hell Getter 3 doesn't even have a Getter beam. Getter 3 kind of had no purpose in the original team and got the least screen time. Getter 3 from G onwards became the aquatic fighting unit anger specialized in fighting larger, more cumbersome enemies but specifically ones that can't fly.

Getter team roles usually are more decided by personality rather than brains/ brawn. It comes from the whole thing that Getter chooses it's pilots.
