Gunbuster 2 is a better story than that of Gunbuster. The original Gunbuster was a just a mash up of different genres, cool poses, great shading and bouncing boobs. Of the six episodes the real meat of the story could be reduced to less than one episode. The rest is fucking useless pandering. Good pandering but useless.
One may hate Gunbuster 2 because the art style is different, or the message is different, or the because the main character isn't even human. But it has more heart than Gunbuster ever did. And the final episode is fucking EPIC. Animated this time not stills because fucking GAINAX ran out of money.

That's the old [EG] release, which has the wrong aspect ratio (image horizontally squished). However the [a-s] release cuts off the sides of the image, so it's not much better.
[EG] V2 is the best, but the subs are still in separate files and need some fixes before it can be uploaded anywhere. The main problem with them is that from the episode 9 onwards they are out of sync during next episode preview after the credits.
