Prior to that, wasn't it fighting AGAINST the Turn A all those centuries ago to prevent it from messing up Earth? It's been a few years since I've watched Turn A, so apologies for inaccuracies

Nope, and you'll see why when they introduce links. Melee and shoulder weapons aren't very reasonable to use aside from some specific situation. You could remodel them if you like that, sure, but gameplay wise they aren't that effective aside from specific situations.

Aw shit, sorry for sounding like a crazy robot, anyway, shoulder weapons have high hit rates (I think) but cannot link and are restricted on some missions. And well, FM5 puts a certain emphasis on links, so in later missions you'll be able to tear enemies apart without having to throw your Strikers at them, and with remodeling points put into handheld ranged weapons they can become really accurate.
You can go for EMP Striker, but in my personal opinion that's only mildly useful and enemies start to gain EMP resistance later on.

No, the big problem is that the movie just suffers from trying to adapt 26 episodes worth of plot and characters into some 80 odd minutes. Characters show up just to remind you they exist and never contribute beyond a name from the show. The more complex relationships are reduced to base surface level conflicts and themes and overall it's just kind of dull

Nothing happens, absolutely nothing fucking happens in this movie, yet it acts like everything is happening.

Paptimus Sirocco starts as a mid level guy in the TItans but quickly becomes the main threat with Kamille eventually taking him on on a very personal level
the same goes for ZZ, Judau had a weird 'thing' with Haman and was a rival for Glemy as well
that said if you want UC stories that arent "the hero saves everyone" you have 8th MS team
