GL basically tapped into the spirit of a booming online anime community, as well as the more idealistic outlook the internet generally had before the eternal winter of social media set in.

But now, the show stands up to the more cynical times we live in as well as the newly un-retired Dave Chapelle.

It's a period piece if I've ever seen one.

Decent enough. Amy was a tutorial NOT how to write a romantic lead, Leto was boring but had decent character development, world building was hit and miss, and the Gargantian came off as brain damaged at times.

Hard to say much about it since opinions are so polarized. I personally thought it had excellent direction, solid characterization and action, horrible plot, muddled all attemps at conveying the story, and bad character development.

Which one? Only seen the OVAs. fun for what it is.

Same deal with EVA. First sixteen eps was classic super robot show, brilliantly executed. Other have of the show is just a mess. The Super robot vs Despair aspects of the first part of the arc were badly executed, and the space arc was just awful, despite how beautiful the Dream Sequence ep was, it wasn't enough to save it. The ending was particularly infuriating as it mocked the the very same super robot tropes it lovingly homaged, and left a bad taste in my mouth. Great, but flawed show.

Is that Battle franky from one piece? I guess he's /m/ but the show isn't, so no review here.

Despite the filler it was a fun show, and I liked it, but it was very flawed.

Imagawa is going to Imagawa man. There are a ton of legitimate complaints about the show (The pacing, the side characters imported from other series showing up the main characters, ruining Boss's role as comedic relief, etc) but it still makes up for it when the high points are just that high. The ending is frustrating though.

Memes aside, Anime Ja Nai is vastly superior to Silent Voice.
Silent Voice comes of as a failed attempt to replicate the effect of Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete because it lacks the emotional impact for me, while Anime Ja Nai succeeds in setting the tone for the first half of the series (it's also a better song).

Gipsy Avenger sound so typical, like you'd expect a video game title with the word "dark" in it
Which saddens me because one of the fun thing about PacRim was the names the Jaegers had. Eureka Striker, Coyote Tango, Crimson Typhoon, they sound like a riot.

Still can't fucking wait for the movie though

So I mean to sound like a hipster/naysayer, but I just wanna say - Avenger makes me appreciate Danger more. I never really liked Gipsy Danger a whole lot (Eureka Striker best girl), but I think Avenger is really generic looking. I feel like I've seen every part of its body somewhere else.
