Yes, the by laws laid down by Bandai in the International Gundam Viewing Act of 2003 state that you have to watch Gundam X and cannot watch any further iterations of Gundam made after it without watching previous ones. That's why Gundam is required viewing in Japanese schools.

It has some pretty big visual cameos in Turn-A's big Dark History reveal, but no actual references in dialogue or anything else.
It also kind of has a proto-Dark History concept of its own in some ways since in spite of being officially an AU it makes several references to something that resembles UC when talking about the past.

Can't say as I share the sentiment. I found II superficially enjoyable but immediately forgettable and that it left no lasting impression beyond that I've mostly forgot it. I didn't hate or even dislike it, I just didn't anything it really. I do think it had a few neat ideas, like a journalist main character and the designs were nice, but mostly I just don't think it stuck with me.
7's first half was boring but the second half and OVAs are great, Zero is a slightly more enjoyable and memorable experience than II even if it was fairly mediocre overall and Frontier was an inferior retread of the original that was at least enjoyable and had some cool stuff even if it'll never surpass SDF Macross. Delta had a great first episode and that's about it. II is probably the weakest entry to me because while Delta was certainly worse, it was at least memorable and I can summon some kind of impression and emotion regarding it and articulate my feelings on it.

Is astroboy allowed here? I have played astro boy: omega factor for years now and from just that game have come to love the character. However I never have actually read any of the manga of the character. Can someone tell me if there is a physical release of the mangas they recommend? I am a physicalfag and am willing to buy the comics if I can. Thanks.

Hey, /m/ I'm relatively new to Gundam and have been going through UC. My current watch order has been: MSG (show), MSG:Origin, MSG 08th, MSG Pocket, MSG Thunderbolt.
I've been told to watch Zeta, ZZ and CCA before watching MSG 83. Is this the better watch order or can I continue chronologically?
