Top 5 author thread?
I really want to discover new writers and good books but don't know much besides the classics.
My current favorites are Vladimir nabokov and Gabriel García Márquez. I read A clockwork orange and enjoyed it but i cant see Burgess as one of my favorites. I'm current reading Brave new world and Huxley seems ehh as well. I know Fyodor Dostoyevsky is praised but i dont know if i want to start with him yet.

Hit it off with Heraclitus.
Read the Pevear and Volokhonsky translations of Dostoevsky if you do read him. I'm currently going through Crime and Punishment and it's a fucking world apart from the inconsistency of a Kafka collection I picked up a little while ago. It's a damn good translation.

I kind of get every placement except Pynchon. Or at least not in the top 10 or 20, let alone top 3.
What the fuck is his appeal? I'm guessing it's mostly because he's an American writer.

Dude, it's your journey. You can either follow the paths that others point to or pick or pave your own. I suggest the latter.
>>7681741
I remember this. I voted Murakami, Vonnegut and King just to mess with the results

If you know about the Odyssey you obviously know about the Iliad
