Just finished American Gods and then the Road, liked them both, what should I read next?

Pls no gravity's rainbow or something, my power level is not high enough to enjoy those yet.

More McCarthy

If you enjoyed the Road, I guess a good place to start is more McCarthy. I honestly didn't like All the Pretty Horses, but you might. So give it a whirl.

The Recognitions.

Thirding the McCarthy suggestion. Go for Child of God and Outer Dark. Otherwise, try Ligotti's double collection that came out with Penguin like four months ago.

Dhalgren is hard but worth it
Reading Gibson's The Peripheral right now. Not hard. Not sure if it's worth it.
