what the hell is existentialism
that moment where you realize you exist and it's really overwhelming and kind of spooky that you have to make decisions dependent on that reality.
Existentialism is a reaction to the nihilism inherent in the death of God and secularization of Western civilization. In previous eras, man's life was given meanig by God. With science slowly disproving God, we are left with a vacuum of meaning. Since nature abhors a vacuum, various philosophers have attempted to prove that man is capable of creating his own meaning even if that meaning ultimately proves absurd.

I think that the god thing is maybe part of what leads people towards "existentialist" thought, but existentialism is more of a metaphysics that rejects essentia, an epistemology that emphasizes presence, and an morality of empathy.
Pretty much exactly what you get from an amphetamine binge, which is exactly what Sartre's life was.

As opposed to what exactly, people growing up and settling down to being religious? Existentialism seems more fulfilling than being a cuck to empty spiritualist philosophies, at least it's self-aware.
it is the moment at which you are euphoric. not because of any phony god’s blessing. but because, you enlightened by your intelligence.

I prefer Russian nihilism to Western nihilism. Less existential.

Try meditation, weed or Salvia divinorum until you start to realize how insane the fact that you exist right now is, and until you start to get anxious about it.
Looking at your eyes in the mirror during a few minutes will probably also make you feel ''strange''. It fucking sucks.

It's recognition and cultivation of your agency and the perspective that you have no excuses because you always have choices.

>Since nature abhors a vacuum
the humanity despises vacuum.
If Schops were alive for it he'd ask the same thing.
