>Critic Harold Bloom said this of Walt Whitman: "I would go so far as to nominate him as Abraham Lincoln's only rival for greatest American"
Is this guy fucking serious? Lincoln was a dictator, murderer and set a new low for the presidency. He deserved to be shot. Walt Whitman was a not very exceptional American poet.
Is this what qualifies as an intellectual these days? These two as the greatest Americans that ever lived? Can't wait til this guy dies and just becomes completely forgotten and marginal.
If this is the only thing you know of him then sure why not.

This bait is quite poor.

Say whatever about Whitman, but if that's your opinion of Lincoln, you don't know what you're talking about. Or, maybe, you're just another clueless, radical hick
Can you at least try a little harder. Rape isn't fun if they don't resist.

I don't know what Americans see in free verse.

What do you see in clumsy rhymesters?

Unlike traditional kinds of poetry, free verse allows the writer to play around with rhythms, which allows them to experiment more.

No you're confused my friend. This board isn't the same as /pol/. It's getting there, but we're not quite ready for this level of bullshit.
