I've never been in a situation where I had to. I hope that if I am, I will have the power to do it though.

Yes, after many years I have come to develop faith in an objective reality beyond the senses. Even though I can never experience this reality it just makes sense to believe and act as if others are not merely the dream figures I have experienced them to be, but actually, beyond sense, intelligences of their own. I have faith young /lit/erate, but it isn't without doubt.

>leap of faith
As a logical being, endowed not with impairment of thought, this is well beyond my means.

You can't make the leap because your fedora is weighing you down lad.

It's hard for me to understand what exactly kierkegaard's knight of faith is.
I understand it to mean a person who has faith in its deepest most patristic sense; that is, one who has managed to assimilate into himself both his hope or love for something and his wanting to be (or be next to) that thing.
For instance, I perceive beauty in stories, I think it is a blessed thing to be a particular character in a book (this does not apply to all characters of all books) or to be like that character or in a more general sense to obtain the characteristics of this character or to have that same unconditioned sense of personality; to be your own inner nature without the awkward delirium of an imperfect reality.
Now, I perceive this as good, but to move towards this means that I must leave this comfy and beautiful world of the poet.
For the poet to become the hero he must stop loving the hero, but the knight of faith is both the poet and the hero.
According to this definition, then no I have not made the leap of faith, but I feel in a similar position as kierkegaard; I can see where I must leap, I can see over what I must leap, I can see whereto I must leap, and I even feel the leap itself impressing upon me but I can't do it, I am too afraid that I will lose the perspective which brought me to this point.
It is as if eternal happiness is right in front of you, but you know the only way to have it is to turn around and walk the other direction.
I have been in situations where I spent so long walking that I forgot why I began, but I kept walking, and that thing terrifies me so that I cannot make the leap.

I'm not a fideist so no, at least not like Kierkegaard.
>>
Isn't it more to ask the question of the leap TO faith, instead? Each are dependent on each other. A leap of faith is circular.

I like you.

Yes. Rational truth and singular knowledge means very little to me now.

Not OP but damn I never thought of that cool, thanks for giving me something to think about.

Can you make the leap if you do not have faith though? That is if faith is the destination and not the journey?

I suppose we use faith as a means or a fuel to power our leap TO some ideas of heaven or God or whatever
