besides, you don't read Gilgamesh for literary merits, you read it for its themes

I read the Penguin edition. Of course, that was the only edition of Gilgamesh I read. It felt decent. I really have nothing to compare it to.

Personally, I've read some parts of the Andrew George translation and really liked them.
