/lit/ any tips for reading/concentrating in loud areas?
Since moving into the city center close to my university, I can't for the life of me concentrate enough to read with constant traffic, car horns, trams, sirens, drunk people, etc.
OP I had this same problem and I had to switch colleges. Most people literally don't notice it, some enjoy it. Your grades are going to slip and your brain will always subconsciously associate loud noises with reading, whereas it should associate silence with reading.
>not being able to multitask
Really though, it's just to block out the outside noise. If someone hasn't already appreciated Beethoven before using it as background noise, then they should kill themselves.
multitasking is a fucking myth when it comes to appreciating complex art like good music (beethoven) or legitimate literature
im super autistic about beethoven and i would never use it as "background noise", it should command full attention.
yes, learn the buddhist meditations about concentration (samatha). you can read anywhere afterwards.
