>pynchon thread

At the start of part two in Mason and Dixon, it mentions the two hearing "rails whistling" and "screaming of brakes".

Is this an anachronistic reference to a train or am I completely retarded and there's something commonplace in 1763 America that this is referring to?

Eldriss Mohemed, in fact I hope Hillary Clinton passes a law making it illegal for anyone but a black muslim or undocumented immigrant to play roles in hollywood, this law will also include a section declaring that all directors and studio owners must be eligible for israeli citizenship, in the interests of strengthening america through diversity of course

Would only accept if it were some sort of Forrest Gump wack-fest where this stoned crackpot genius wanders around the world bumping into major historical events and figures going 'hyuck hyuck hyuck' *drags on joint, throws up, eats some corn chips*

As for an actor... well, it depends on the eras used of his life. Maybe Shia LaPoof could do it. Need someone who could get really invested and pull off the paranoid spazz.
Steve Buscemi for an older version perhaps if he were to grow his hair out and be a hippy. Jeff Bridges would have the perfect voice though. Nicholas Cage? John C. Reilly would be a good Slothrop. Maybe Walking Phoenix. Vincent Schiavelli could work for older Pinch.

Fuck I don't know. It would be a struggle to make a biopic of ole ruggles.

There will never be a movie about Pynchon's life because he has successfully hidden it from the public eye.

The only reason a DFW movie got made was that Lipsky published a transcript of his interviews with him. It's literally the only window we have into DFW's life.
>>
>>7617225
You can make a movie about his struggle to hide his private life or sth. Did you know philomena before the movie?
>>
>>7617225
It's called speculative fiction, numbnuts.
>>
>>7617225
I think we get a very good idea about parts of his life in reports from people like Franzen. That New Yorker article was quite informative.
>>
>>7617225
We actually know quite a bit more about his life than he'd want anyone to know. Enough to make a speculative adaptation, perhaps in the same style as the "Naked Lunch" movie.
>>
>>7617267
(meaning Pynchon there. Lots of people have been willing to point their fingers at DFW. Also he just watched TV all day long)
>>
>>7616629
John Ratzenberger
>>
>>7616629
James Franco, since he's the only one that understands Pynchon

Exactly. If you read some of the articles out there, we do know quite a lot.
http://nymag.com/arts/books/features/48268/
http://www.vulture.com/2013/08/thomas-pynchon-bleeding-edge.html
https://www.waste.org/mail/?list=pynchon-l&month=9505&msg=1496&keywords=siegal
http://www.vice.com/read/who-is-thomas-pynchon-and-why-did-he-take-off-with-my-life-198

Also, there will be a biography of him when he dies, and if there are no writers out there who are willing to do it, then we are truly in dire times.
