Have any of you read the Verity translation of the Iliad? If

It's very concrete and clear but not poetic. Though maybe it has a kind of deadpan poetry.

It physically disgusts me when people recommend any translation other than Pope's.

Pope's translation is a great piece of literature in its own rights, but it's not Homer. He was very liberal with his interpretation.
