How do I get acquainted with using literary terms when speaking to others about literature?
I feel so fucking dumb when some of my classmates talk to my professors in class. In other words, how do I git gud at literature?
Dip into literary criticism. Read the texts discussed. It doesn't really matter where you begin. You'll begin to find authors and critics whose views are compatible with or challenge yours in interesting ways.
most of them are probably just reciting some literary criticism they read online
see Patrick Bateman when he talks about Phil Collins or HueHue Lewis, he's just mechanically reciting (or trying to) what he's heard to sound smart without actually thinking about what he's saying.
Sophomore. I've taken 2 literature classes and have 3 more this semester. I'm attending a community college for my associates and I'm done with that after this semester. I just feel so inferior to my classmates as far as actually discussing texts. I do well on papers though.
