Hello /lit/, I'm trying to become a better screenwriter and I want to adapt several books in order to improve my writing skills.
Can you please recommend me some of your favorite books that haven't been adapted into movies?

I always thought The Deep would make a good film. It wasn't the best novel, but I feel like a lot of it would work great on screen.
Elric of Melniboné
Libra by Don DeLillo
I honestly think trying to adapt a miniseries of Dubliners that intertwines certain events and characters in interesting ways would be really cool. Having the kids in Araby be related to someone or live on the same street or something like that.

Start with something that's in the public domain so you don't have to pay for rights. Old fables and folk-tales modernized would be where i'd start. I'm actually writing a sort of adaptation of an epic.
Tender Buttons by Gertrude Stein
