Yes. I've been in several writing groups. Knowing what kind of person you're talking to can help you judge the quality of their criticism, irl groups tend to be more serious (much easier to flake on online stuff), get to go out and have food and drink and make acquaintances, &c

Writing classes in college, post college, and nanowrimo all had people who wanted to keep writing and getting feedback after the sessions ended.

I also found one held at my grandmother's senior center (not attended by people going to the center, that's just where it was held). I ended up not liking the crit format but one of the guys there was excellent and a couple more people had reasonable chances of being published.

I don't think the crit threads here are very good.
