In book viii of the republic Plato writes
>Now that which is of divine birth has a period which is contained in a perfect number
He then does a bunch of geometry before going back to the four types of state.
What does Plato's number mean?
So I just let these two pages on perfect numbers, squares, cubes and rectangles just whoosh over my head and move on? Has anyone commented on it ever about what it most likely means? I tried using Google scholar and found very little.
