Well, I guess this is what happens when you try to turn 500 pages of novel in to a picture.

If you do, how do you take notes when reading a book? Highlighting and notes in the margin, or do you write in a separate notebook?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I don't take notes. After I finish reading a book, I write a poem with themes and ideas found in the book, and in books I read before that. That way, I build a dialogue between different themes and ideas.
>>
>>9650991
write in margins with a #2pencil. have developed a code with greek alphabet so that often notes consist of single letters here and there.
>>
>>9650991
i just underline or bracket passages which i like, then stick a little sticky note on the page so i can go back and refer to it, and then later i write down what notes i would have written on the page in my diary instead, saving the book from being riddled with stupid notes

Do featureless (no internet, no useless bloat apps, etc) e-readers exist? I just want something that displays a book list and displays the book contents when I click on a book.

ah, yeah. most of them.

You can just turn off the internet and never use it

kobo's are like that
kindle's are like that

what bloatware would you reckon ereaders to have? watch one review of any given ereader and you could've figured this out yourself

By taking the poem off the page, away from the sterile analysis of New Criticism and restoring to it the voice of its oral heritage.

I still don't understand how hacks like Ginsberg and Kerouac even compare to William S. Burroughs.

More offensively, it seems like Naked Lunch is the least liked of the three classic beat books

I'm looking for the perfect book to fit my taste.

I need something that is non-fiction that's subject matter is something strange or paranormal.

Good examples:
The Sphere - Crichton
I Am Legend - Matheson
The Quiet Earth - Harrison
The Dome - King
Most Lovecraft
Most Junji Ito

I get stuck reading a lot of "pop culture" books because I'm admittedly not a connoisseur but I'm really hungry for a good read, please help!

Why are so many otherwise edgy young people scared of following their wildest dreams? Don't you realize that any sort of "safe and stable" mentality makes you a cog in the machine who sacrifices his life, spirit and basically his entire being to keep things stable so the real individualists can live life to the fullest and make full use of their creative energies to create something greater? Do you really think of your teen-20-something self as some kind of disposable little worker ant and nothing more?

Think about what a sacrifice you are making to people who don't know you and who will never thank you or reward you. Think about what a sacrifice you are making to yourself.

Marxism. Stop thinking you can have "just" a theory of advertising. Totalization is the bare minimum of intelligibility for social phenomena in a society such as capitalism.

So I'm reading Julius Caesar (/pol/ native), and I realize....they're exactly, but EXACTLY, the same story (pic related)

I mean literally fag, not some metaphorical interpretation. Nabokov was an artist and he consciously wove elements of Shakespeare's play into his novel that's then further masked and misunderstood as a novel about pedophilia (it's not)
>>
>>9650116
Have thought of it over time as more of a clash of civilizations novel- Europe\America; dreaming wayward youth\cynically driven adulthood. Henry James on American turf driven up a notch or two. I've only read L twice, however- both times when still in my teens.

A Nick Land Reader: Selected Writings is done!

PDF: https://u.nya.is/oauzos.pdf
EPUB: https://u.nya.is/ajccaw.epub

The epub didn't come out great, it lost some styling and the footnotes only work sometimes. It would take a decent amount of manual work to fix...I used htlatex to go from latex -> html and then calibre's ebook-convert to go from html->epub. If you know a better method, I'll try it out.

I'm sure there are errors, especially stuff where I didn't catch imperfections in the OCR process on the old articles. If you point them out I'll fix them.

Thank you so much, you sweet little bundle of joy.

My daughter is 7 years old, she does not read very much and I want to get her into reading. What are some good books for her.

I was thinking Alice in Wonderland or the Secret Garden or A Wrinkle in Time

I want some books that are empowering to little girls, right now she's just a cute little loli who sits on everyone's laps and uses physicality to gain acceptance and I want her to gain some perspective

There's contemporary philsophy going on?

Analytical "philosophers" circlejerking about formal logic doesn't count.
