I just finished this, and I've seen a few posts here and there referencing it.

While it had a few great scenes and has been pretty influential in popularizing certain occult themes, overall it felt like a low-budget, bloated Gravity's Rainbow, which was published about the same time. I wouldn't really recommend it.

In an off sense two books very distinct from The Collector, and very distinct from one another. My principle is books that almost entirely reverse one's expectations.
Cat's Cradle
Mao ii
And another:
Lady into Fox
I recommend, however, only the second.

Does anyone know a website with a stockpile of educative books (the books that you would have to purchase for college) in PDF or other format? I'm trying to get educated and make something of myself but I currently lack the financial resources to purchase books or pay for tuition, so this is my last hope. I tried searching the Bookzz site on the stickied post but to no avail; I have no idea how to get it working.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Just do ex or opencoursweare or coursera or whatever the free college classes online are. And torrent any other books you like, on topics you're interested in.

College is a waste of money of money and time, you'll do better to educate yourself, save for society demanding a stupid piece of paper. And I say that as someone with a Master's degree. Wish I had never gone to college.
>>
>>9623745
I agree with this guy up to a point. If there's one thing that colleges offer that you can't get anywhere else it's the constant access to experts of the field in the form of professors. Sure you can read the same books listed for the course and get a solid understanding of the subject, but having the professor to bounce ideas off of and learn differing viewpoints from is really something special. And no, talking to other faggots on /lit/ is not an equal substitute for the professor experience.

Hey /lit/, i don't know if it's the right place to ask for this, but if you can help me that'll be nice of you. I'm looking for a good website wich i can download books from, pdf format.

I got a Kindle and the price for the e-books are just outrageous, so excuse me Mr. King, but i won't spend 50 bucks to read 5 of your novels.

Thank you in advance !

>"For a person to have to face death from malignant lymphoma is a tragedy under any circumstances. For a 32-year-old ''adolescent'' who has never lived, made love, experienced friendship, achieved success, found comfort or known pleasure, it is a particularly grievous tragedy."

>''Mars,'' which was published in Germany in 1977 to some intellectual acclaim, is the autobiographical account of a young Swiss raised on the Gold Coast of Lake Zurich who attempted to find some meaning in his existence by writing candidly about it in the months that preceded his death. In that better world of the cinema, he would have left us an illumination that not only served his purposes but transformed his death into a final bequest for all who are suffering and dying."

>"Fritz Zorn was singularly untalented. With Fritz Zorn being a pseudonym (meaning ''Angry Fritz'') and the author now dead, a reviewer is released from the normal compassion toward the dying and solicitude toward the innocent."

>"He points out that Zorn is a ''man without ties to the outside world,'' and therefore the book is ''autistic in the most extreme sense of the word.'' He admits that the book ''could have gained in power if its author had given more attention to the 'minutiae' of experience, instead of indulging in his eccentric speculations.'' Andfinally, he decries the ''peculiarly tutorial quality in his style."

I'm pretty much new to reading books, but I noticed that many of them differ in print quality.
Some have nice sharp text printed on a white paper, and other look like printed using Tesco value inkjet printer with Chinese cartridges on a yellow toilet paper.
If I mainly order books online, where/how can I check what the print quality is like?

Petronius' Satyricon. A Latin (ancient Roman, not south American) novel. It's a pretty interesting piece of literature, since it's pretty much the only novel that was written in ancient Rome. Unfortunately, only a small part of it has survived, but it's nevertheless entertaining.
