>Lacan uses such facts to justify his claim that the unconscious discovered by Freud, is structured like a language. There is no need, either, to insist here that these laws - or rather the Law - are not abstractions but are inscribed in human culture itself and determine the subject through signifying chains forged by one's ancestral past, family history, social milieu and, as times goes on, the record of one's own personal odyssey as its frustrated desire searches for some kind of lost object through the mediation of language.

I have been writing genre fiction tales for most of the time, plus some poems and a nouvelle, but now I want to try something deep and realistic. The problem is that I am afraid to sound like a pseud so...

How do I get some serious themes without being in your face or reddit tier symbolism?

Do I have to have a profound connection with this serious stuff in order to make it sound real?

Example: Trying to talk about war without having lived one. Talking about being an old man while being someone close to his 30's.

If a character talks or gives an opinion how do I avoid sounding like a mouth piece or a sock puppet?

well yeah.
>>
The best part is that I do not find it hard in the slightest to believe you would write genre fiction, I do not feel at all puzzled that you would write so much without any clue whatsoever.
>>
>>9640387
Is not like I am completely oblivious about any of this, but talking about a theme in a tale is a different animal; I didn't had to go in deep and the rhythm was faster, an a novel is the opposite. If I am not careful enough I may end up burning all in just a couple of pages.

Is there a difference between bad writing and writing that doesn't sell well?

/lit/ always shits on genre and YA authors, but they're generally the ones who sell the most copies. Could you really call them bad writers if their prose reaches that many people?

Don't we all write to be published?

Don't be a money mark. Books sell well because they respond to marketing trends and demographics. They're written, essentially, by committee, to appeal to the widest amount of people (i.e. those without sense or taste).

Capitalism was a mistake

Usually when elites open a theme for discussion with the public, and ask

"Should we do it?",

and we answer

"No, it's immoral, and people are going to die",

they'll just do it anyway and claim that at least there was democratic debate,

and if someone loses their eyeballs because of them, then they'll blame the blind for not having seen it coming, innit bruvas?

You might be a good writer. You may be able to inspire, peak the interests and raze emotions of anyone who gives you a chance - But just as much as you may be able to do any of those things, you will be under-appreciated. Most writers are.

Don't let that stop you. Pursue your dreams but alter them accordingly!

Collaborate with film, music, social media. Sure it's not what you had in mind, but it's going to get your work appreciated, and is it really that different from a novel? Not really. A film is just a live-action novel. The difference is a film appeals to a wider audience, because when there are already so many books written by the greats, who apart from a literary fanatic is going to make the time to read your work?

Senility is writing bullshit in a witty way that makes others reflect about it.

Death is loving to read others witty witless bullshit on a daily basis.

Hell is not having an alternative but to read it because of your poorly thought-out career choice.

How old are the Greek and Trojan warriors during the beginning and end of the Trojan War.

What I do know is that Achilles is around 15 when the war began and 25 when he died.

"Rilke, I suppose my favorite writer really, and in the best sense a profound writer, is full of shit. I mean, his ideas are nonsensical. As philosophical notions I have no respect for them at all, but as poetic notions they are absolutely beautiful.”

He does. Apparently he took classes under Wittgenstein too. Not sure if I believe it though.

"But discussing literature is a personally edifying thing!," he shouted at the top of his lungs before imploding at the Snickers complex in outer space. He was the only victim of his attack, as usual.

He was a loner. Not because he was a-lone -- it seems to me he was always with people -- but because he wasn't understood.

You wouldn't understand, because he didn't want to be understood. Nobody understood his life, or his death. The only person privy to those Snicker-y in-jokes was him.

Whenever I see people falling prey to that caramel and chocolate goodness, I'm for some reason reminded of his tragedy.

First paragraph of each number is also a tl;dr.

1. I want to spend all my time sitting around drinking coffee but I want to be rich and spend all my time doing fulfilling and intellectual and fun work, which I'll need to work extremely hard to do, which makes me feel like I'm missing out if I ever do it.

And I recently moved to a giant city with better weather and much more to see. How do I fix this?

2. I'm 26 and have never had attention from women, flirted with one, or done anything with one at all, except for escorts.

I have zero friends. I'm not a Chad so I can't use online dating. I see women as living lives on easy mode.

3. My job is boring. I work in an office and it took a few days for me to be the ugly loser loner beta pathetic guy of my section of the office that nobody talks to. This is typical but it's the first time I've had an office job with other young people. Has anyone else had this experience?

4. I feel like every viewpoint is an attack on me. I trust my intuitions, intelligence, and taste. There are ten trillion people saying you have to read boring old books (and claim they're incredible) or else you're an idiot. "Go through SICP before you do any programming or you're an idiot. Follow current events or you're an idiot. Drink coffee or tea. Go travelling. Use Facebook." How do people cope?

It seems that any attempt to live life according to your tastes gets you ostracised or deemed stupid. I know companies push this to sell shit, but most people are pseudo intellectuals that worship academia and the media as a cult, along with creating their own cults. I simply want to read 10 pages of Great Expectations and throw the book away out of boredom without being called stupid.

I do what I want and don't give a shit about what other people do. But I'm also attractive and confident, so when I do what I want other people see it as admirable rather than wierd. Women are attracted to it.

If you did what you wanted, you'd probably be made fun of. Who cares? You're going to be made fun of whether you do what you want or do what everyone else wants. Do what you want and be marginally happier.

Why doe people always adopt an intellectual's way of communicating an idea instead of just his ideas themselves? Do people get more out of larping as a smart person than actually being one?

Mostly because why would you want to reinvent the wheel all the time? But what you're advocating for is something Wittgenstein did too, only it works better in philosophy obviously, than it would in a social science or science for that matter
