Is there a way to rewire a compulsive need to impress others to your advantage while writing? Or are you better off just training yourself to stop giving a fuck?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
What do you mean "to your advantage"? Just write and rewrite until it's the best possible and most impressive thing that you can. Why should that need to be rewired?
>>
>>9694717
I skimmed your post and I suggest that you stop wanking your mind, and grow modest. Think about other senpais.
>le shall I stop giving a shit? xD
No, because it is impossible. I say that you grow kind to other people, and hope that they are kimd to you. Realize that inferiorty is subjective, and we are all brothers under Christ. Do not judge others. Also, go to r9k for this.

I mean ostentatious prose. The 'compulsive need to impress others' is infused in my writing, that's why it's a problem. It's why I came here.

As much as I can agree that there is some poor writing and story choices with this series, can any other fantasy series rival its world building and comfyness?

Have you read it? What is your interpretation? What do you think Kafka wanted to convey?

It's my favorite Kafka story
I think it works on multiple levels. But to me it conveys a sense of helplessness, in which even someone trained to help fails. Struggling in a hopless battle, against unfair expectations. I think this is also reflected in the speed of the travels, while going he travels in mere moments, he is needed, he has a duty, on the way back it takes an eternity, he is deprived of everything. Failed at his job, stripped of his clothes, his maid taken and abused. Despite all that he knows it wasn't his fault, he merely responded to his duty and you can't fight inevitable death.

Read Poetics of space instead.
>>
>>9694529
I like Bachelard quite a bit. When you read up on his larger outlook, there are things I wouldn't agree with, but I like his aesthetic / poetics musings. Not as like THE way to see things, but as more enjoyable and inspired than a lot of theory out there.

Poetics of Space is good. I like Poetics of Reverie, Psychoanalisis of Fire, and Air and Dreams. All might be worthwhile.

He's probably most useful if you're an artist. I feel like writers like him, who I do like... it's not that I see it like they're showing the "right" hermeneutics.... it's that they might have a more allusive approach to reality that is creatively useful. Like something that works in a stimulating feedback with what I'm working through myself, without my having to reduce anything I do to it.
>>
I'd rather read Heidegger, Husserl, Lefebvre and Merleau-Ponty first. Bachelard is just the trendy son of all of these.

read the bibliography if you want a list of stuff to read on the topic of what impact the theory of evolution has in the realm of morality
>>
>>9694159
Just started reading that book, the insistence of a field having it's brief spark of brilliance till it's all done, all complete and sits inert - though useful. Is absolutely retarded, obviously false and quite off-putting. Though this probably due to the mentality of the day.
>>
Richard Joyce - The Myth/Evolution of Morality
Evolutionary debunking arguments are hot shit in metaethics and it's pretty embarrassing for moral realists not to have given a single sound retort.

Im pretty new to books and the like (Im a turbo brainlet) but I've recently read and finished Adler J. Mortimer's "How to Read". Reason it caught my attention was because there was a thread where an anon asked how to think. The thread were quite good, and with lot of information. However, after reading "How to Read" I got fascinated by the Great Books of Western Civ. but I had no idea where I would start so I just picked Euclid's "Elements". Now I just feel stuck and demotivated to progress through with it (propositions after propositions).

i find that alot a people have a simlilar quandry as you do an what I always tell 'em is that "you can't start with the greeks unless you already know some goddamn greeks. so here's what you do: start out as a 2yo with all the trappings of a human then begin to learn the language of the people around you MAKE SURE THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU ARE PLATOs that's the key here, my nigga(r), once you got that done ur just about done! alls you need to do is read every thread on /literate/ and tell 'em how you did it! BEgin AS a Geek! I think mostly people will get it (not just get it but GET IT) once ur done though go ahead and read Harry Blooms' "A cannon pointed west or something where he tells you all the good authers: he says "man, shakespeare is the best, he was the first one to be a person" and "Emily dickinson is good even thought shes a women because dont let it deceive you shes still got a dick and thats enough for genius
hope this helped and may you live a long litrary life

go to the library, look around until something catches your eye. read the book.

what your not supposed to do is slog through the great books of western civ because you think it would be a cool thing to do.

It's not because I think it's "cool" that I do it. I want to expand my overall understanding, that's why. I truly want to understand.

There isn't anything more annoying in this world than listening to a twenty-something try to explain to me why utilitarianism it is the most rational morality system.

Which books should I read if I want to get a feel for the city of Berlin? Novels, non-fiction, whatever works. A few I've been considering:

Sven Regner - Berlin Blues
Christopher Isherwood - Berlin Stories
Alfred Döblin - Berlin Alexanderplatz
Robert Walser - Berlin Stories

historical or contemporary Berlin ? Big difference. While old Berlin maintained a character of it's own the present one is not much different from London or any other modern migrant/islam infested city in the west. Also most german authors today are libtards, leftists and unashamed apologists of mass imigration and islamisation. you might try Christian Kracht, though he isn't really redpilled either. If anyone can name a really redpilled (or blackpilled) german author of the present, please raise your hand.
