Is there a better way to begin a philosophy book?

>stopping the pursuit of boys
Nope, Marcus is an absolute savage.
>From my dealer, the pleasures of the poppy
really, Marcus?
How old were you when you first realized that life is a wholly aesthetic sensation?
According to my understanding of Kant, everything in nature is beautiful.
Three and a half years of age.

He's always given high praise around here but his works are rarely discussed beyond memeing.
Personally Temple of the Golden Pavilion is one of my favourite fiction books of all time.
I really like his works too
Sound of Waves is my favorite. I feel like if he would've been less edgy he could have created some top-tier comfy lit
Bump. Love me some rare Mishimas.

Confessions of a Mask fag here. Could totally identify with getting hard to Saint Sebastian pics.
>Full disclosure: the first time i read Nietzsche i felt that his books were just a ridiculous collection of nonsense, written in poor German, and largely based on an embarrassing degree of ignorance about anthropology, sociology, art and science; and i haven't changed my mind since then. I still have to understand why he became so famous. I am not sure that he also became influential because i think the century that followed had little use for his philosophy and/or his method (assuming he had one).

Scaruffi is just a contrarian desperately seeking attention.

no i think he's an actual aspie.
Why is he so right about everything?
Authors whose bodies, whose physical persons preclude the concept of ever taking the content of their ideas seriously exactly because their own bodies manifest the proof that the content of their ideas are both false and a product of their own insecurity and inability to participate in hedonistic life as fully as they are programmed to wish to be able to do.
Other possibilities on this prompt: Hitler, any severely disabled person who writes a feel-good book.

I don't agree with this post. Just to look at this guy, he looks like just some well-dressed dapper 19th century guy.

Hello /lit/. Summer is here and love is in the air. It's time for anons in New York City to meet up once more.
We've had 2 successful meetings so far and are looking to organize a third within the next couple weeks. Nothing spectacular, just dinner and drinks.
If you're interested, join the discord so we can organize and get everything in order.

This was my first history book I've read front to back and it was a lot better than expected. It was amazingly well written.
More like this?
Destiny of the Republic
Jerusalem : A Biography
Every page of this was riveting. I especially liked how she was able to paint a vivid picture of the wild personalities that had impacts in the event that was so pivotal in shaping the rest of the century and, by extension, the world we live in today
Welp, /lit/, I've fallen for the STEM meme and now there's no turning back.
How do I cope.
>>9678184
Stem is easy to learn
>>9678191
It's so dehumanizing though.

Money, material prosperity, and relatively good job security.

>"yeah, I'm a Buddhist
>hasn't read any Buddhist texts
>thinks there's no hell in Buddhism
>think buddhism is a unified religion
Do you realize that the vast majority of Buddhist monks throughout history would not have read a Buddhist text? Are you aware that the word "hell" with all of its connotations completely distorts the meaning of suffering re-birth in Buddhist doctrine? What was your aim in making this thread?
>>9671109
>college stoners version of Buddhism is Buddhism
Are you a Protestant or something? You know religions have rules right?

I only read white Westeners. I recommend Schopenhauer and Hitler

Daoists seem more like laid back Cynic types rather than stuck up prudish Stoics.
>>9696649
Hmm I thought the Cynics were considered "super Stoics" by the stoics as they not only rejected pleasure but embraced pain and suffering as virtuous.
