why do you think someone like Bloom, who can't say enough about Pynchon and DeLillo, shits on this guy, who, to the average reader, bears a lot of passing resemblance to both (almost like a best of both worlds thing)?
why do you think someone who has read as much as Bloom, someone with as refined tastes and standard for judgement, would completely dismiss this guy?
why don't you?
Why do you think people post pictures of anime girls on lit?

How do you go about selecting which books to read next, anon?
i buy a ton of of memes and random shit that looks dank, and then when it comes time to pick a new one i just sort of grab some shit off my shelf and read it, sometimes when i know i'll have time to start a new book, i'll put two in my bag and then grab one at the last minute, the key is just to have a bunch of dank shit sitting around so when the time comes you end up grabbing something good
>have a to-read list
>go to the library to buy one of the items on this list
>see several books from said list
>see one I heard about but didn't put on the list
>end up buying and reading this one
Every. Fucking. Time.
Have a small list of authors that /lit/ recommended and seemed interesting. Usually read 1 of their novels and if it intrests me enough, I'll read some more of them. If not, onto the next author.

>just now realizes the old testament is just remix of random mesopotamian shit
and this is why it's important to go to school and become educated, so how's summer semester going? was that the first reading?
>Every pre-Abrahamic religion that originated in Europe to the Middle East had their own version of the Great Flood
Color me fucking shocked!

you don't have to read it to know biblical stories unless you live under a rock
In order to get a greater understanding of the western canon, which scriptures should I read? Should I read the Hebrew Bible or the Christian Old Testament? What's the difference? I can't really get a straight answer from google.

what did google say?

you're ready for the spiral

>Should I read the Hebrew Bible or the Christian Old Testament?
What did he mean by this?
Just read the KJV bible, and read all of it. You can skip or skim Leviticus if you really want to, but it's not too long so you should probably just read it.
Do you think it ever upset him that he could never match up to Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard?
>>9701704
He was literarily better than either, and that's precisely why he's less known. Horror fans are overwhelmingly illiterate morons, ever more pulpy of mind and ever less deserving of the golden age of cosmic horror.
whom exactly?
>>9701722
Clark Ashton Smith. On a related note, I just read "The Monster of the Prophecy" and it was fucken tite.
I love trashy romance novels, who else does? Sherrylin kenyon's league series is legot one of my favorite series of books ive ever read.
>>9701683
I fap to them but often don't finish them
>>9701683
Can't stand them. I can't even stand non-trashy romance stories. I hate romance. It's universally awful, with like, 5? exceptions.
I do like trashy books tho. Trashy adventure books. Urban fantasy. The Predator and Alien books.
>>9701683

What do you think of his work, /lit/? I'm alternating between The Rainbow Stories and Europe Central right now and I'm just so fascinated by his range of subjects in his writing.
