What the fuck did I just read?
A book that addresses base, simple truths that practically anyone literate can observe. The fact that that its content is so controversial speaks volumes of our culture.

Nothing is free, and that living with that is accepting life in it's rawest and most painful form. Whether you choose to use this as a motivation to make it better for your fellow man, or as most plebians generally get from this, is a ticket to be an asshole.
Have you read the good word of our lord and saviour: the Milk Man?

Good quote but he didn't foresee giant corporations importing low-iq laborers and simultaneously creating hybrid class and race war to ensure that the workers never band together.
You miss the part where he later says its OK to steal shit from your neighbours as long as you're strong enough to take and defend it.
>>9810314
what is the problem with that? are you some little scrawny bitch?
Who here /fit/ and /lit/?

Post your degree, your personality type, why you enjoy reading, and a specific quirk about yourself that relates to one or all of the above.
NEET, ENTP, I don't read, I have autism
>BA in philosophy, MA in psychoanalysis
>Melancholic
>really makes me think
>into escapism via abstract systems of thought
BA English lit, INTP, entertainment and knowledge, I am socially conservative (not politically) and generally dislike other people interested in arts

$45 is my limit. Been holding off on a university print of an obscure middle ages philosopher because it's $48. I just can't justify it. Since then I've spent more than $48 on Greeks.
What music would you listen to while reading paradise lost?

Who cares about lofty ideals of virtue and the human condition? The only thing that matters is money and power.
Don't believe the sociopaths who smile with pearly whites and convince you that your money is well spent pursuing the liberal arts.

What do you say to people who refuse to read or even brag about not reading?
they're right; digital multimedia is killing literature.
I cut them out of my life entirely.

Will computers ever be able to deal with the complexity of language and to generate interesting narratives? I know there has been research in story telling systems, but their results are very limited. So maybe Google will train one of its neural networks on Google books and teach it to generate stories? Any IT guys here that can confirm if this is possible?
Computer engineering student here. I believe such results are possible but are very far away since they require what is called "Strong artificial intelligence". The neural networks we have now are what is called "narrow AI", meaning you can train them on how to perform specific tasks but there is no "general intelligence", if you want it to perform another task you have to train another network.
Most humans don't have the capacity to make up good stories (I know I don't), so I think we are quite far from making machines with such abilities.
there is an ai that paints masterpieces based on the artists archived works. if you cant google youre not worthy

Why did Gramsci get all the attention, /lit/?
Apparently doing literally nothing whatsoever isn't a good way to overthrow capitalism

Why are bookshops flooded with feminist literature at the moment? Maybe it's just the UK, but right now I can't walk into a bookshop without a table dedicated to feminist literature displayed prominently right at the door.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking for an anti-feminist red pill women writer bashing thread. More a discussion about why, right now, the genre is so popular.

> three teen girls walk into store
> "hello, welcome to second-hand books! how can I hel-"
> "HARRY POTTER"
> "uh"
> "WE WANT ALL YOUR POTTER BOOKS"
> one of the girls drools onto her north face sweater and then another one licks it off for keto nutrition
> "we don't have any left"
> the three girls leave in confusion, as clearly every bookstore should have a never ending supply of commercial paper accessories such as Harry Potter, what else would a bookstore exist for?
> they go to barnes and noble, however they don't have enough blowjob money to buy a $30 new copy of Sorcerer's Stone in Hardcover, since the paperbacks wouldn't look as good on their armoire next to overpriced tea cups in their banal instagram posts
> they go home dejected and practice their clarinet, the instrument of choice of teenage girls given its erotic black length and warm deep African sound
So these second-hand bookstores instead, to gain enough money when the 3 daily harry potter resales run out by 9:05am (the store opens at 9:00am sharp), they have something to sell to the pieces of shit that wander in there with their starbucks frappuccinos that they place on nearby book stacks which they promptly stain. The result:
1. the retard feminist books are the ones stained
2. the shop makes a sale of "My Vagina; or, The Whale" by Amy Schumer and pocket an easy $10 per girl
3. the girls turn into bigger wastes of space after reading the books; this is an indirect way of punishing the girls' parents after turning them into tedious Harry Potter "reading" drones.
Or, it could just be that the shop owners are cunts.
