If the original Star Wars movies were published today as a trilogy of books, would they fall into the Young Adult Dystopia genre?

Yes.
>>
Switch luke and leia's roles in the story and itd be a best seller and get a crappy movie adaptation
>>
>>9866857
Interesting question.

>>9867054
This is what would happen (has happened?), but if we look at what the release of Star Wars as a book in 1977 would have probably led to, it would have been much less interesting than the same story as a movie. Maybe, just maybe, it might have led to a Harry Potter style series, but who knows?

Who are some late writers?

Wallace Stevens had his first published poem released at the age of 35, and didn't publish his first collection "Harmonium" until age 44.

Kant had several earlier works, but the first edition of the Critique of Pure Reason came out when he was 57

I don't know if /lit/ considers it "good" or not but I know A River Runs Through It is highly acclaimed and was the only book the guy ever wrote. He wrote it when he was 71

>barely read as a kid, just play games (both video games and imaginary)
>get told early on i'm good at writing
>read now but still not nearly as much as I 'should'
>still get told i'm good at writing

why is this? is it just imagination? I like writing, and reading too, but I couldn't read everyday. I do write often though. It's the one thing that i've been consistently good at in my life.

For an English project I need to compare the idea of 'Great Expectations' between two books, one of which must be 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens. I'm quite stuck on what other book to compare it to. I want to do something that contrasts with the ending of the Charles Dickens' book, so I can compare the two easier.

So I ask 4chan, what do?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
pick some cynical french novel and shaggy-dog it up till you've driven home the point that it represents low expectations
>>
Compare it with Finnegans Wake
>>
I maxed out all my scores in this shit in high school and college. Just write like you mean it and use proper grammar, and it helps to have some weird sexual tension with your middle aged litterature teacher.

I agree, it felt a bit "gossipy" at times. Alright, I've heard pic related is pretty gud magical realism too. I've only read some of Borges short stories, which I liked. I guess something like pic related then.

Why do you bother keeping a backlist of books? You're never going to read them all.
6 posts and 1 images submitted.

>>

This.
it's just a list of books that had your interest at one point. It's a pool to pick from when you're looking for a book.

>You're never going to read them all.
In life inclination and attitude is everything, I have 4 unread books for every one read.
I have capped myself from buying anymore because I ran out of space to read them, once I finish a high enough stack I will buy some I have under my "will buy asap" shelf.

I will finish every book I have before I graduate and so help me god.
You can't jinx me because I am anonymous here.

Can you write about a subject even if its an over saturated market?

How would you throw a twist into the subject that hasnt been done before? By inventing a completely different element (ex. if youre interested in WW2, why not create some make believe war that happens in europe 5 years later so its different) Or do you try to find as many twists as possible for the subject(ww2 but having jesus christ be one of the soldiers)?

I need general idea help really. All i do is write a sentence, then write another that continues it, but i feel like im naturally uncreative.

pic related. I want to write about miko girls like Reimu!

Your skill as a writer will determine whether your setting is bland and boring or a breath of fresh air.
I don't see how stuff about armpit whores should be considered over saturated.

Just keep practicing writing. I don't think you're at the point where you're ready to write seriously. Write about whatever you like, just make it good.
