Do you and your girlfriend share similar tastes in literature?

If you do, do you think it adds to your relationship?

If not, do you resent that?

I'm single. Mostly because the only girls I'm in a position to meet are total plebs. I actually ended my last relationship almost entirely because I ended up hating her because she was, for lack of a better term, a fucking pleb. I honestly wish I could even meet a pseud who at least understood the value of being well read.
>>
>>9890196
I ended my last relationship because she decided out of the blue to get tattooed on her upper breast. Like what the fuck, man. She was pretty normal before that, too.
>>

I think the only thing my GF reads is twitter. Yes I do resent that

Does no one see a problem with the publishing of a little girl's diary when she never consented to it and almost certainly never wished for anyone to read it, let alone the whole world?
53 posts and 9 images submitted.

no
>>
what was published was not even her diary anyway, jews are so pathologically unreliable when it comes to recording events that you need textual criticism even on a 20th century girl's diary
>>
I imagine stuff like that goes on all the time. I mean, I don't give a shit. If I was dead you could bang me all you want. I mean, who cares? A dead body is like a piece of trash. I mean, shove as much shit in there as you want. Fill me up with cream, make a stew out of my ass. What's the big deal? Bang me, eat me, grind me up into little pieces, throw me in the river. Who gives a shit? You're dead, you're dead!

I thought it was pretty good...I mean....not like great.

I think the whole thing was, "OMG! It's a comedian who actually wrote an actual novel type book, BY HIMSELF!"

Like yeah....I mean...considering that it's good, but it's not an actual great funny book.

Haven't read it but I think this will be the first time I'll go with an audiobook.
>>
>>9889203
I actually started reading it, went a number of chapters, and after an hour or two decided to get the audiobook and read it at the same time.

Great decision. I was reading it in his voice anyway, so it was even more enjoyable like this. But I wouldn't go with the audiobook alone, for the nuances.

It just gave me this huge HST vibe. Funny enough, there's an HST thread on the first page right now too, but a couple of days ago, when I was reading the chapter where they were driving to Vegas early on, I just couldn't fight off that feeling. And of course, that stayed constant to the end.

Out of the books I've read this year, I'd place it on third, after Laurus and The Master and Margarita.

Because that's empty and not fulfilling.

The range of emotion experienced from consumption parallels and, in some cases, surpasses those that seek the usual walk.
>>9889037
What makes improvement fulfilling? It seems like it propagates that very problem: you will never be fulfilled unless you do A, B and etc.

are there any books with stable, happy polyamorous relationships in them? I don't like romance, but I feel like something comfy. Hollywood romances agitate the shit out of me, though.
160 posts and 10 images submitted.
>>
The thought of polyamory makes me sad. I want nothing but a single qt for myself, and I expect her to not want another man besides me. Is that so unreasonable?
>>
>>9887628
>Is that so unreasonable?
No, different people want different things. I enjoy the concept of polyamory. I'm asexual, so my ideal relationship is two best friends that love me, and can have sex with each other. But I'm serious about the books.
>>
>>9887633
That's just a classic relationship + you as a friend; not even polyamory.

Nothing too exciting, I finished the Iliad a week ago and enjoyed it enough to warrant the purchase of the Odyssey, plus it was only $3.50 at Chapters. I was also surprised to find For My Legionaries at a downtown liberal bookstore, I look forward to reading it. Additionaly, I recently bought and read Storm of Steel but I couldn't find it. Please don't be too harsh, I grew up in a plebeian Philistine environment and only recently embarked on the /lit/ path.

Are there any good books on post-modernism that are not inherently socialist/Marxist in nature?
Seems like all the books/lectures I can find are either Marxist in nature or its just some modernist boomer talking about the "evils of post modernism".

I've got that nausicaa edition, pretty decent though I wish they were properly bound and were cloth instead of paper.
What are the other miyazaki books like?
>>
>>9885564
I... probably wouldn't be close friends with you.. acquaintances sure.. but everything from the weeb/nerd vibe to the total lack of books I'm interested in beyond the classics which don't signify much to even the rather repulsive design decisions which predominate in this book selection indicate to me a set of literary and cultural values with which I do not jibe and which I share very few of.. out of 10.
>>
There pretty neat if you're interested in Miyazaki as a director. They're filled mostly with interviews and essays that he did around the time he was working on his films. Lots of magazine articles and such.

characterisation and comfyness = M&D
overall fun time with decent characterisation = AtD
crazy mind-altering experience but little characterisation = GR
>>
I'm reading Against the Day and it's pretty darn good. I'm leaning towards GR next because it's his most known masterpiece. M&D's prose seems really transcendent, but requires very careful, slow reading.
